''That your family background is slightly, in your words not mine, similar to my family background,'' Charlotte replied, ''It's so obvious that life didn't treat you as bad as it did, me. Now, tell me. What does your dad do?''
''He's dead,'' Avery deadpanned, without so much as a blink of the eye that could give her away. This wasn't a lie though…the lies were yet to come. She almost scoffed at the shocked look that dominated her partners face within seconds.
''What?! Oh my goodness, I'm so sorry. I had no idea and I said…'' Charlotte trailed off, adjusting her glass nervously, an action that strangely reminded Avery of Archie.
Well…not that strange since they both wore glasses, but why was everything reminding her of him recently? She shook her head slightly to clear his face off her mind; there was no time to think of that now.
''You know I'm really sorry, right?'' Charlotte's voice sounded apologetic.
