Chapter 18 - Two kilometers

The branches, no more than 4 centimeters in diameter, were now intertwined and looked like sharp, polished spears, and they wanted to hunt them.

Their melodious voice now reached the ears of the group members and they wanted to witness their suffering.

There was only one more turn left for them to see the exit and get out of that spiral.

But suddenly, a skream of pain filled that cursed space. "Aughhhh...!"

It was Billy's voice; one of those spears had pierced his right shoulder and his red blood flowed like a boiling spring, drowning Karina's face in blood, who was in his arms.

Hearing Billy's scream, Joshua turned in that direction and wanted to turn back, but Zack stopped him. "Stay right there, Josh, I'll take care of Billy."

Joshua hesitated, but he had no choice, so he trusted Zack and went to the path ahead to push those branches aside and open the path.

Zack had noticed Joshua's concern, but he couldn't let him do anything reckless, because if Joshua didn't clear the path ahead, the group would be in trouble and their escape would be blocked.

So he went to Billy himself, unfortunately his wound was very deep and they had no means to bandage it.

Billy's hands were shaking and the strength in his arms was decreasing and he could no longer hug Karina.

His face was as white as chalk and his lips were losing color.

At that moment, Tahel went to Billy and wanted to pull Karina out of his arms, but a hand stopped him, it was Zack.

Tahel stared at Zack with a surprised face, but Zack didn't care about him and hugged Karina himself. Even though she was injured, it didn't seem that hard to hug Karina, and since she looked like a 4-year-old right now, she didn't weigh much.

Tahel sighed in disappointment at seeing Zack's distrust of her so obvious. "Ah."

So the only thing he could do at that moment was not to be a cumbersome. The least he could do was to watch out for Billy and keep him company.

Meanwhile, the number of monsters he was chasing had doubled. All those deformed creatures were emitting a concentrated aura of bloodthirsty, causing everyone in the group to be affected by it.

Zack said in distress, "Ah..damn it…!"

This time, he had to sacrifice 500 life points to gain more power. He only had 2 out of 3 million life points, and using that much in one day would be too much for someone who had only gone through his second awakening.

But in such a situation, he had no choice, even if it meant giving up all his life points.

So this time he compressed his aura to absorb more energy, he wanted to use a powerful all-encompassing spell; the Air Freeze Spell.

He was freezing the air around him, fortunately, because of those branches and the poison inside them, the air inside the labyrinth was sufficiently humid, so he could do it safely.

But just as he was about to prepare his spell, those moving branches noticed his high energy and changed their target towards him.

In addition, those deformed monsters also noticed the branches rushing towards Zack and found a small opening to pass through so that they could go to the other members of the group.

This caused an ugly smile to form on their uneven faces.

"Kakkekke...!"

Now that Zack was caught in the roots, he suddenly saw a black shadow pass by him, but it was too late and he could not stop it, so he shouted, "Josh, be careful..."

When Joshua heard Zack's voice, he turned back and saw that black shadow. It seemed that several deformed monsters had managed to make their way to the middle of the group.

This situation was very tense, on the one hand, he had to push the branches aside, and on the other hand, he had to face those monsters.

At this moment, Billy also realized the seriousness of the situation, but there was nothing he could do, he was severely injured and no longer had the strength to fight back. His body was in pain and trembling. "tremble... tremble."

However, at one point, a hand reached out to him and grabbed the dagger in his hand. It was Tahel.

Although he looked anxious, he had to do something if he wanted to survive, so he took the dagger in Billy's hand and used it to hit the branches blocking their path.

Although he didn't have much strength, he could at least help a little. Thanks to this small act of his, Joshua was able to gain some breathing space.

So he used petrification, which made his body look like a solid block of stone and those branches couldn't penetrate him, so in this situation he switched places with Tahel.

Tahel and Billy stood in front of the path and pushed the branches aside. Fortunately, the branches weren't focused on them, and they were mostly focused on Joshua and Zack, so they could easily keep their path forward with their limited strength.

At this moment, Joshua stood in the middle of the group and fought the three deformed monsters that had infiltrated the group.

Although Joshua looked stronger and more muscular than the others and acted like a tank due to his tall stature, he couldn't use his full strength right now, because he was carrying Elaine and had to take care of her during the fight.

So it was making it difficult for him, because he had a weak point and those deformed monsters had also noticed it and wanted to attack Elaine who was unconscious on Joshua's back.

One of those monsters targeted Joshua's right side, so Joshua reached out to counter it and hit the monster hard, the monster's face was twisted and it was thrown to the other side.

But at the same time, the other monster managed to get to Joshua's back and the third monster attacked him from the front.

So Joshua had no choice but to first get rid of the monster behind him and pull him away from Elaine, then he hit the monster's lumpy leg with his hammer, causing it to fall to the ground, and the third monster in front of him hit Joshua's side with its claws, causing him to bleed, but fortunately the wound he had received was superficial and not that deep, but the scar burned badly, as if salt had been sprinkled on his wound.

A little further away, Zack was also busy fighting the branches and had not yet been able to find a space to perform his all-out spell and had to block the monsters and those branches with ice spears.

"Krrrch...Krrrch...!"

But suddenly a loud noise caught their attention and they could see the thick dust that was further away from them. It seemed that a huge creature was approaching them, because even those moving branches were moving and seemed to be moaning. "Howl...howl!"

This tense atmosphere cast a fear on all of them. And there was only a kilometer left to reach the exit.

So they had to speed up their work and use the last strength they had in their lives to escape as quickly as possible.

Trust was no longer an important issue, but survival seemed even more important. Although Zack hesitated, he decided to hand over Karina to Tahel. After all, he was certain that he didn't want to die like this in this hell. Then he asked Joshua to switch places with him for a moment.

So Zack went to the middle of the group and called out to Tahel; Tahel closed the distance after hearing Zack's voice.

At that moment, Zack handed Karina over to Tahel and turned back to use his all-encompassing spell to control those monsters.

Joshua bought time Zack some time and after a minute the spell was ready. So Joshua went to the front of the group to help them.

Blue energy swirled around Zack's hands, and the rune letters on his hands appeared like a tattoo that went up his arms, and his golden eyes shone, and after a moment, a cold air filled the surroundings, causing those monsters to shiver from the cold, even the lively branches had slowed down their movements, it wasn't long before the space in front of Zack completely froze, and those monsters and branches dried up like stone statues in their place.

This made Zack breathe a sigh of relief. "Ah."

But still, they had no chance to rest, because the longer they waited, the less chance they had of surviving.

So now that they had gotten the monsters out of the way, they had to move forward at a faster pace. So with this chaos that had arisen, silence no longer made sense, so they ran quickly, ignoring their backs and pushing back the branches that were in their path.

Although they pushed some of the branches aside, some of them penetrated their defenses and wounded them.

But for the other group those wounds did not matter, they just had to get out of that labyrinth.

There was only a little left. 100 meters, 80 meters, 70 meters, 50 meters, 30 meters,.....20 meters.

The entrance was clearly visible, they could feel the fresh air from the entrance; fresher air than inside the labyrinth without the smell of decay and mold.

The last bit of their strength was being consumed and their eyes were going dark, but everyone tried to bear it. Finally, there were only 10 meters left.
