"What's wrong with him? Why is he like that?" Sophia asked Leona as she watched Luca shivering on the bed, even though he was still passed out.
Leona sighed. "He's been like that ever since that day, Sophia. Luca has never been the same."
Sophia was speechless. She was beginning to see the extent to which Luca was broken, and it unsettled her even more.
"The doctors have tried everything to help him," Leona continued. "But it's been fruitless. Luca is always having nightmares. Sometimes he passes out... and he's also an alcoholic. I don't know what to do, Sophia."
Sophia watched Leona struggle with her emotions. She was close to crying and barely holding on.
"It must have been hard for him," Sophia murmured.
"And you too," Leona smiled sadly at her. "It's unfortunate that you both had to go through something like that."
