Chapter 2 - What do you mean by that?!
In an endless white space.
A naked Elias stood afloat, drifting towards a cacophony of multiple colors. It didn't take long, and he reached a crimson color with a luster of silver light around it.
The color was a small dot that sucked his body in without a warning.
All this time he was unconscious, and his body was drifting under the control of some unknown force.
After being sucked into the crimson color dot, he regained his senses.
He was no longer naked, but he was covered by a piece of silver cloth that covered his private parts, making him look more presentable.
It's obvious that you wouldn't want your thing on display when talking to someone, and it would be troublesome if the person was a beautiful woman of your taste.
In his surroundings.
There were millions of the colorful dots around. Each of them at an equal distance, making the other figures appearing from their respective places comfortable walking instead of adjusting.
To his surprise, he could see the figures, but their faces and bodies were all colorful shadows. On the faces, the eyes were visible but different from any human he had ever seen.
Eyes like cats that would shine when light flashed at them from nowhere.
There were also some figures that only had a single eye on their forehead.
Bodies with multiple limbs, huge physiques, bodies that could fly without wings, etc.
Before he could fit inside the situation, he saw a small figure floating.
It was a little child wearing a cute fox mask, but the child could fly.
"Mr. Elias Thorne is it?" The child asked with its melodious voice.
Elias was shocked to see the flying child, but he had already made a guess about his current condition.
He looked behind the child and saw that there was a set of reception desk with vacant seats.
"Yes, I am Elias Thorne." He said after clearing his inner thoughts.
"Okay, Follow Me." The child turned around and began hovering towards the reception desk.
He followed suit.
…
Though the reception desk looked near, but it took more than an hour to reach there with the continuous walking.
Elias was now seated on a comfortable wooden chair, but he was not feeling comfortable at all.
"Are you sure that you remember the last details before your death?" The child had a troubled expression on its face.
"I've already told you the details. All I remember is that I just opened the door of my apartment." Elias spoke annoyingly.
"You are asking me the same question again and again!" He retorted.
"I apologize for this, but we can't let you transmigrate without a proper death criteria that is registered in our database." The child stood up from the chair, holding onto some papers.
Elias was still processing what the child's words meant before it stood up.
"Don't worry, I'll be transferring you to the main branch." The child spoke confidently.
Elias stood up without his will from the chair under an unknown force.
The reception desk disintegrated along with the chairs.
For some reason, he couldn't muster any word to the child.
The child snapped its fingers and a blood-red circle began to glow underneath them. Numerous ancient texts were being filled from the center of the circle, making it more incomprehensible.
Flash!
They both disappeared.
The pillars supporting this place were majestic, and the ceiling they were supporting was not visible at all. Only a sea of white clouds surrounded the 'ceiling' through which the pillars pierced.
Elias and the child appeared in the place out of thin air.
The child immediately took out a small bell.
TING! TING!
The bell jingled with a faint sound.
Elias felt a sudden sense of danger enveloping his body. He wanted to run away from it, but he couldn't muster the strength to do so.
"Little one, why are you here ?"
A voice that was old but young came from their front.
"This person here was supposed to transmigrate, but he doesn't know how he died. So, I brought him here." The child pointed at Elias.
SWOOSH
A crimson gust of wind materialized and turned into a towering humanoid figure of more than 10 meters.
Its whole body was covered in colorful flames. The flames would change color sporadically.
"You... were never supposed to transmigrate." The figure pointed his fingers at Elias.
All the pressure and sense of danger that Elias was feeling faded away.
"What do you mean by that ?!" Elias roared.
"This... I think... You were sent here by mistake. Don't worry, it's a rare case, and we can talk this ou-"
The child was interrupted by the tall being before it could continue.
"You are dismissed. I'll take care of him."
The child didn't say anything and only nodded before leaving.
Its eyes were shining like stars, and it gave a thumbs up to Elias.
"Sit." The tall figure spoke with its usual tone.
Elias found himself seated on a chair again. In front of him, the tall figure was sitting too, but in a chair that could accommodate its size.
"This is the way you died." It pointed at the space in the middle of their seats.
A square shaped panel appeared that began to play a video.
...
An hour later.
BEEP
The panel disappeared after playing the video.
"Sigh" Elias looked above the sea of clouds with a satisfied look on his face.
