Chapter 36 - Where Is Lakeman?

With his current physical condition, it is difficult for him to get sick even if he takes a cold shower in winter.

In the room, Lakeman sat on the edge of the bed, looking into space with an excited expression.

Finally, the binding was completed!

[Current progress: 100%]

[You have successfully bound Borsalino (codename Kizaru) and enjoy his daily training benefits!]

"Good!" Lakeman clenched his fists hard and raised the corners of his mouth.

The binding was complete, which meant he was liberated. Although it was quite interesting to watch Kizaru, an old man, perform in front of him with eloquent words, you get tired of it if you watch it too much. If it weren't for the binding, Lakeman really wouldn't be interested in dealing with an uncle with a vulgar temperament every day. Playing poker in the cabin was more fun than dealing with Kizaru.

"Starting tomorrow, I don't need to go to the deck to stare," Lakeman smiled and said to himself. "I wonder what kind of feedback Kizaru can give me?"

With such expectations, in his sleep tonight, Hancock was held in his arms and heard Kizaru's name from Lakeman's mouth again.

"???" Hancock looked confused. 'What is it about that vulgar Vice Admiral that makes you miss him so much?'

The next day, Kizaru finished his morning practice and quickly headed to Lakeman's boat. He was looking forward to what would happen today.

But when he arrived on Lakeman's boat, Kizaru was stunned. On the deck, there were only the three Boa sisters. Lakeman, who used to lie on the sun lounger every day, was nowhere to be seen! The butler was also missing!

"??" Kizaru had a bad feeling in his heart.

He couldn't help but ask the Boa sisters, "Where is Saint Lakeman?"

"The master said that he feels staying here will interfere with our cultivation. He will not come here anymore. We can just start practicing on our own," Hancock replied calmly with a composed face.

"What!?" Kizaru listened, but it felt like the sky was falling. This was completely different from what he expected! What happened? Didn't Lakeman give him a look yesterday? They should have had a good talk today! Why did he leave so suddenly?

"Mr. Vice Admiral, the master said that your lunch and dinner will still be prepared by the chef team on the ship, but the master will not participate," Hancock said softly and calmly. "You can choose to eat here, or you can take it back to the warship to eat."

"This..." Kizaru choked. He was tempted to say no, to continue having lunch with Lakeman. But it was impossible to say this. Because Lakeman is a Celestial Dragon with a distinguished status, Celestial Dragons can decide who to have dinner with, but others cannot ask Celestial Dragons to have dinner with them.

Kizaru suddenly became a muggle. His thoughts flickered, and thousands of thoughts arose in his mind. Why? Has the world government given up? Or is it that Lakeman has completed observing and testing him over the past twenty days? Kizaru was confused.

On this day, he was a little absent-minded while instructing the three Boa sisters to practice. Since Lakeman didn't show up, Kizaru naturally didn't want to have lunch here. He asked the chef team to send all the dishes to the warship. Kizaru enjoyed the meal alone in the captain's cabin. He felt extremely uncomfortable. He even missed the time when he had dinner with Lakeman.

"Why?" Kizaru thought painfully. He couldn't figure out what he had done wrong. But he hadn't been able to figure out the answer. Finally, Kizaru sighed in resignation, took out his phone, and called Marshal Sengoku.

Marineford.

Naval Headquarters, in the Marshal's Office.

Sengoku was drinking black tea and enjoying his leisurely lunchtime.

Brubru…

The phone bug suddenly made a sound.

"Borsalino?" Sengoku raised his eyebrows and immediately answered the phone. "What's the matter?"

"Marshal, something unexpected happened," Kizaru's voice came through. "Saint Lakeman suddenly stopped meeting me today."

"What?" Sengoku was shocked. "Explain the situation to me in detail!"

"Yes!" Through the phone bug, Kizaru recounted what happened today in detail.

In the office, Sengoku frowned and fell into confusion. This was completely beyond his and Tsuru's predictions.

It shouldn't be like this! Saint Lakeman, with the order of the world government, should take the initiative to contact Kizaru. The closer he gets to the Sabaody Archipelago, the more frequently he should contact Kizaru. Why was the situation reversed, with contact suddenly halted toward the end of the voyage? Not showing up once all morning?

"What do you have in mind, Borsalino?" Sengoku asked in a deep voice.

Kizaru smiled bitterly and said, "I think he must have used some method to complete the inspection and evaluation of me in the past twenty days, so he stopped contacting me."

"It is indeed possible," Sengoku nodded slowly. "But it's troubling that we didn't anticipate this. What should we do now?"

Kizaru sighed, "I don't know, Marshal. This sudden change has left me puzzled. Should I continue to approach him, or wait for him to make the next move?"

Sengoku rubbed his temples thoughtfully. "Let me think about it for a moment. I'll call you back with further instructions. In the meantime, try to stay alert and observe any changes."

"Yes, Marshal," Kizaru acknowledged.

"Then let's leave it at that for now," Sengoku concluded.

The phone hung up, and Sengoku was left deep in thought. He took out another phone bug with a solemn expression and called someone.

"Tsuru, there's an emergency. Come to my office."

"Good."

The person on the other end of the phone spoke concisely and to the point. After receiving the call, they set off resolutely.

Less than a minute later, there was a knock on the office door.

"Come in," Sengoku said.

Tsuru opened the door and walked in, sitting in front of Sengoku. She got straight to the point, "What's going on?"

"Saint Lakeman did not talk to Borsalino as we predicted but suddenly stopped showing up today," Sengoku said in a serious voice.

Tsuru showed a stunned expression. "This is unexpected. Has the world government given up on this approach?"

"No, it's unlikely. The world government will not allow the Marines to escape their control. They will continue to exert influence. The existence of Garp and myself has already tested their patience," Sengoku explained.

"If the Rocks Pirates hadn't severely damaged the Knights of God and Roger hadn't started the era of great pirates, we might have been removed long ago."
