Mariam was silent. She stared at Stephanie, trying to check if she was lying but even if she were, she would never know.
This was the same girl who played with her feelings for years and she never caught on to her act.
But what if she was telling the truth? What if she was truly apologetic?
"Mariam," Stephanie called showing her teary eyes as her conscience ate at her heart. "I'm really sorry. Please, can we start over?"
Mariam's heart skipped. Ah, this was bad. It seemed like she never really got over her and just buried it all deep in her heart, covering it up with work and all the issues at hand.
