Chapter 36 - Entering the mist again

Cyrus ran quickly along the edge of the cliff, cutting tree trunks with magic, setting them on fire, and throwing them at the pirate ships. Some of the logs were destroyed by the ship's protective shield before hitting them, but others floated on the waves, creating small obstacles for the ships.

Cyrus leaped from one cliff to another, continuing his attacks; however, the burning logs were not a significant obstacle for the sloops. The size and speed of the sloops gave them a lot of maneuverability. Unlike the galleon, which was a large ship with several masts, the sloop had only one mast and carried no more than twenty people.

Cyrus noticed the sudden change in the sloops' direction. "Damn it, what are they up to??" With a sudden turn, the sloops disappeared behind a large rock.

The galleon passed under a high cliff and continued breaking the waves, heading towards open waters. Although its sails were fully unfurled, it still couldn't match the speed of the sloops.

The armed cannons could cause devastating damage with a simple command.

Julian climbed the main mast to reach the crow's nest. From there, he could better assess the situation.

He picked up the binoculars and looked in the probable direction of the sloops.

He thought to himself, "Something doesn't add up…"

The sloops had been missing for a while. Given their speed, they should have blocked their path long ago.

Suddenly, a voice shouted from the other mast.

"Pirates!!!"

Julian immediately turned the binoculars in another direction. A brig with black sails was coming towards them.

He cursed under his breath and shouted, "Ship at 10 o'clock!!!"

The captain looked in that direction. Pirates were swarming the ship's ropes like ants.

"What should we do???"

On one side were the sloops, and on the other, a brig was coming towards them. He was confused. Logic dictated that they should face the sloops' threat, as it would be easier to target and sink them. Although the wind direction kept changing and was unstable, the brig was fast and not as heavy as the galleon.

In fact, the galleon had three masts, but during the journey, one of the masts was damaged, and now they were only using the power of two masts.

For a brief moment, he gave up. It seemed the journey he had started was coming to an end too soon.

The tension in his fist released, and he lowered his head.

"Head towards the mist!!!" Suddenly, a voice shouted.

Cyrus immediately pushed the helmsman aside and took the helm himself.

Even the chance of victory against the brig and sloops was better than entering the forbidden sea.

"Are you crazy???" The captain shouted.

Cyrus's angry look shocked the captain.

The captain was momentarily taken aback but quickly regained his composure.

"We're heading towards the sloops!!!"

Cyrus turned the helm several degrees, throwing everyone off balance. The captain fell to the ground, and Julian struggled to hold on. Almost one side of the ship was sinking into the water.

"Fire!!!" Suddenly, Cyrus shouted.

As soon as the ship stabilized, the crew fired the cannons on both sides without any objection.

"What the hell are you doing, you madman???" The captain shouted.

The cannonballs aimed at the brig fell into the water before hitting it.

"crazy bastard!!!" The captain, red with anger, said.

He tried to take the helm from Cyrus.

Suddenly, an explosion sounded from the lower part of the brig, and all its crew jumped into the water.

The captain, who was just a step away from the helm, was stunned and muttered, "My God… how is this possible…"

He remembered that Cyrus was a wizard, but casting magic from this distance was not something anyone could do. Moreover, how had he even covered this distance to the ship?

He looked at the brig, now being destroyed by small and large explosions on its deck.

The cannons were reloaded, and Cyrus ordered fire again.

This time, a rock on the other side was mercilessly shattered by the cannon fire.

Suddenly, the broken mast of the sloops, crushed under the fallen rocks, became visible.

The captain stammered, "Y…you… how…"

He had many questions but preferred to keep his mouth shut.

The sloops had been hiding behind the rock, waiting to destroy the galleon with a barrage of cannon fire when it came into their line of fire.

The captain felt the danger was over, but Cyrus was still heading towards the cursed sea.

Before the captain could say anything, Cyrus said, "The main threat hasn't entered the field yet… the pirate king will follow us to the depths of hell… the only way to escape is to enter that part of the sea… my magic power is exhausted, now I only have enough strength to enhance the wind…"

He said this and with a sharp turn, the ship picked up speed.

Everyone awaited the captain's response. However, when he weighed the situation, he realized he had no other choice.

"This guy, he's right. I never thought I'd admit this, but going to that hellish sea is our only way out." the captain thought.

Although he was opposed to this suggestion, he announced, "Full speed towards the cursed sea!!!"
