Chapter 20 - Crisis Within

● Graviton

Exact Location: Inside one of the many homes in the Space.

"I swear on my soul Amy, if I have to come up there myself…" a woman yelled up a flight of stairs. "Come down now let's have dinner!"

She walked back to the sitting room where her husband sat on a chair with his legs crossed as he scrolled through his phone. "Let her be honey," the man started. "She'll come down when she's starving."

"Well there won't be any food to come down to, because I'll finish it all right now," she said with a higher tone, hoping her daughter would hear.

The man shook his head and turned to his wife. "You'll only drive a wedge between you two if you continue to act like this."

"How else will she learn if I don't discipline her?"

He smiled. "She'll evolve on her own," he said. "This isn't Earth, Honey, the children here learn things and grow on their own."

His wife gave him a stank look, causing him to clear his throat and turn back to his phone. "I'll beat the damn evolution into her body if I have to, I want to raise a society-friendly child, not a menace…" her words were cut short by a soft knock on the door.

"I'll get it, just make sure you have Amy down before I'm back or I'll drag her out."

"Right."

The woman walked up to the door and pulled it open to see a pale-skinned man with blue eyes and gray hair. He wore a pure white outfit and held his hand behind his back.

"Hello," the man greeted. "Do you have time to talk about the calamities that have befallen this planet?"

"Honey, who's that?" Her husband asked from inside the house.

"Don't worry, it's just the neighbors."

She turned back to the gray-haired man. "Unfortunately, there are no believers in this house, sorry." Before the woman could finish her words, Leo Silas dropped his hand by his side, revealing a dagger.

Before the woman could process what was happening, Leo stepped forward and slit her throat open, spilling blood all over the place including his white dress. The woman gurgled before dropping to the ground with a thud.

"Honey? What's happening…" the man's words trailed off as he gazed down at his wife's bloodied body. "Wh--" his words hooked in his throat and his chest pounds.

Leo crossed over the body and slowly approached the man who was too shocked to move any part of his body.

"Do you know what is the punishment for getting married to a human?"

The man tried to talk but could only make out low mumbles as his eyes moved from his wife's dead body to Leo Silas who stood in front of him.

"Death." Leo stepped forward and plunged the dagger he was holding into the man's abdomen. He pulled it out and attempted to stab the man again but he fell to the ground before Leo could strike again.

Leo curbed in front of the man and exhaled deeply. He then used the blood stain in his hand to draw five equal vertical lines on the man's forehead. "Esna elrytra victos," he muttered as he drew the lines.

A creaking sound from behind caused the gray-haired man to stand quickly and veered around with his dagger aimed forward. He eased up as he realized it was the couple's young daughter.

She stood at the last step of the stairs, staring at Leo and his blood-stained weapon with a neutral expression on her face.

"A Star-blood," he hissed. "What a shame."

Exact Location: The Forbidden Zone

Liam took out a syringe that was attached to the forearm of his suit. He made a small opening in the neck region of Zara's suit, just enough for the needle to pass.

The teal green-eyed man breathed heavily and quickly as he pressed the liquid in. He then tossed the syringe away and took out a small device that he used to scan the suit.

"Crap," he exclaimed as he noticed multiple failures in her protection mask, including failure to supply breathable air.

The light brown-haired man froze as he pondered his options. Without further hesitation, he unplugged the wires connected to his helmet from his suit.

He inhaled deeply and removed his helmet, shutting his eyes as the breeze of the Forbidden Zone lightly hit his face. He then swiftly exchanged Zara's helmet with his and put on hers.

Just as he moved forward to help the other unconscious agent, his name echoed through the air. "Liam?"

The said name turned to immediately recognize Willow standing before him with her blaster in her hand. He doesn't see her face but the shock in her eyes was audible.

"Shit."
