Upon reaching the VIP ward, Xing Ziyu's chatter finally ceased. He led her to the front of one of the rooms and nudged his mouth: "Here, this is the one."
Ye Liangyan reached out to push the door open when Xing Ziyu suddenly let out an "Eh", "Xiaoyan, that... are you sure you want to go in and take a look?"
Ye Liangyan nodded her head calmly, after all, she was also responsible for that car accident. Even though she might not be able to compensate the driver for anything, she needed to make sure that he was alright before she could be at ease.
"Actually, if you ask me, I don't think this person is short of money. If you go in, maybe..." Xing Ziyu shrugged his shoulders.
His words weren't finished, but the meaning was clear—going in would be pointless, and it might even bring trouble.
The expression on Ye Liangyan's face did not change, "I know. I just want to go in and have a look."
Just as her hand was on the doorknob, a somewhat stern young voice suddenly came from behind them, "What are you two doing?"
Xing Ziyu turned his head and saw the newcomer, a flash of surprise crossed his eyes before he quickly put on a smile: "Doctor Qin, hello!"
The man was also slightly taken aback upon seeing him, "Xing Ziyu? What are you doing here?" His brows furrowed slightly, and his tone became stricter: "This is the VIP ward. Generally, if you're not the attending physician, you are not allowed here. Don't you know that?"
With an awkward laugh, Xing Ziyu shifted his gaze towards Ye Liangyan, and the newcomer also followed his line of sight to the young woman standing beside them.
At first glance, she seemed to give off a very refreshing impression.
She had a plain, fair little face with clear, dark eyes, soft rosy lips, and long, straight black hair tied back into a ponytail, revealing a clean and beautiful forehead.
Her attire was quite casual, a plain white long-sleeved shirt with the cuffs simply rolled up twice, light blue jeans, and canvas shoes.
It was a very ordinary outfit, but it looked pleasing to the eye on this girl.
Only, her expression was so aloof! It wasn't that he was bragging, but in his over twenty years of life, every woman who laid eyes on him for the first time had revealed a look of admiration to some extent. However, this girl in front of him had a calm demeanor, and her clear, distinct eyes were like a gentle stream as she nodded slightly in his direction.
Qin Shaoqing lifted his eyebrows in slight surprise and asked Xing Ziyu, "Who is this?"
Xing Ziyu immediately rushed to Ye Liangyan's side with a hehe laugh and explained: "Doctor Qin, this is a junior of mine from school. She... She's just here to visit our hospital, and I was showing her around when we inadvertently came here." He added hastily: "Please don't tell the director about this!"
"..." Ye Liangyan, standing behind him, was somewhat speechless. Even she didn't believe what her senior was saying, let alone the young and handsome male doctor before them.
As expected, Qin Shaoqing smiled, his gaze shifting suspiciously between the two, "Just strolling around... and you ended up here?"
"Uh..." Xing Ziyu was at a loss for words for a moment and could only give a silly smile.
Qin Shaoqing found his demeanor a bit unbearable to witness, thinking he might just be showing off in front of a young girl. Shaking his head, he was about to suggest they leave quickly when the quiet young woman gently pushed past Xing Ziyu and looked straight at him.
"Hello, I'm Ye Liangyan. I'm here because I want to visit the patient staying in this room. May I enter, please?"
Her voice sounded crisp and soft, and her tone was very polite and courteous, which indeed was quite pleasant to hear.

Qin Shaoqing slightly curved his lips, with a trace of an indescribable emotion flashing in his eyes. He gestured toward the door of the ward with his chin and asked, "Why do you want to see the patient in here? Do you know him?"
"I don't know him."
"Then it's...?"
"A car accident, I'm half responsible."
Xing Ziyu, standing nearby, had been anxiously sweating for a while, yet Ye Liangyan ignored the glances he was giving her. Hearing her statement, Ziyu's hands fell weakly to cover his face, thinking they were doomed now!
Doctor Qin was clearly surprised for a moment, staring at Ye Liangyan with wide eyes, then for some reason, he suddenly clenched his fist over his mouth, looking like he was holding back a laugh. Clearing his throat, he said, "Well then, the patient in here is under my care. I need to go in and ask for his opinion. You should go back for today, and if he's willing to meet with you, come back tomorrow at this time. How does that sound?"
A flicker of emotion finally crossed Ye Liangyan's calm face as she slightly furrowed her brows, seemingly pondering something. Seeing this, Doctor Qin was about to speak when he heard her say, "That's fine then." After which she said to Xing Ziyu, "Senior, thanks for today. I'll come again tomorrow."
After saying this, she turned and walked away.
Doctor Qin seemed somewhat taken aback, finding this girl's brevity and straightforwardness rather interesting since she didn't beat around the bush at all.
Seeing that Ye Liangyan had left, Xing Ziyu chuckled and naturally made a quick escape.
Doctor Qin let out a light chuckle and pushed open the ward door.
After passing through a small living area, he entered the patient's room.
On the hospital bed lay a slender figure wearing patient's garb, leaning back against the headboard with a book in his hands, reading leisurely and comfortably. His relaxed and contented demeanor made it seem less like he was recovering from an injury and more as if he was in his home's backyard, reading a book while sipping coffee—his face was serene and handsome, without a hint of emotion.
The only somewhat comical aspect was his left leg, which was in a plaster cast and propped up on the bed's metal frame, somewhat ruining the otherwise aesthetically pleasing scene.
The moment Doctor Qin entered, he unapologetically curled his forefinger and knocked on the plaster cast of the man's left leg, noting that since the car accident, this guy hadn't seen a single acquaintance, presumably because of his current state. But if someone were to actually see him like this, they would probably be in for quite the shock, right?
"I have a piece of good news and a piece of bad news. Which one would you like to hear first?" Doctor Qin asked, sitting nonchalantly on the sofa next to the bed.
The man in the bed didn't even glance at him, obviously not intending to engage, his gaze still fixed on his book.
Doctor Qin didn't seem to expect a response and simply continued, "The bad news is—after hearing about your car accident, your fiancée has run away from home! Oh, seems like this wedding won't be happening, and it looks like I won't get to be a groomsman after all. What a shame!" He spoke the words of regret, yet his tone was filled with teasing and schadenfreude.
The man's expression remained unchanged, his slender fingers casually turning a page of the book.
Doctor Qin then said, "The good news, though, is that I found the person responsible for the accident you asked me to look for! And just outside the ward, I met her just a while ago."
As he spoke, he watched the man's reaction, and finally saw him raise an eyebrow and glance sideways at him.
