We barely had time to catch our breath before the zombies broke through the door. Their rotten faces and outstretched hands filled the room. We had no choice but to fight again.
"Hold them back!" Mr. Alex yelled, swinging his weapon at the nearest zombie.
I swung my bat, feeling the impact as it cracked against a zombie's skull. Blood and bits of flesh splattered everywhere. The room was a mess of screams, growls, and the sickening sound of flesh being torn apart.
Ellis screamed as a zombie grabbed his leg, pulling him down. Kaori rushed to help, smashing the zombie's head with her pipe. Ellis scrambled back to his feet, his face pale but determined.
"We can't stay here!" Miu shouted, shoving a zombie away. "We need to find a better place!"
Mr. Alex nodded, his face grim. "To the roof! We might be able to hold them off there."
---
We fought our way to the stairwell, climbing as fast as we could. The zombies were right behind us, their guttural moans echoing up the stairs. I could feel their cold, dead hands brushing against my legs as I climbed.
When we reached the roof, we quickly slammed the door shut and barricaded it with a heavy metal beam. We stood there, panting and covered in blood, listening to the zombies pounding on the door below.
"We need a plan," Davis said, wiping sweat from his brow. "We can't keep running forever."
Mr. Alex looked around, his eyes scanning the rooftop. "We need to figure out why they can't enter the school grounds. There has to be a reason."
As we rested, we noticed something strange. In the center of the roof, there was a small, old-looking stone with strange symbols carved into it. It seemed to glow faintly in the moonlight.
"What's that?" Kaori asked, pointing at the stone.
---
Mr. Alex walked over and examined it. "It looks like some kind of protective charm or artifact. Maybe this is what's keeping the zombies out."
Miu knelt beside the stone, tracing the symbols with her fingers. "If this stone is protecting the school, we need to understand how it works. Maybe we can use it to our advantage."
Just then, the door below us began to crack under the pressure of the zombies. We could hear their growls getting louder.
"We don't have much time," I said, my heart pounding. "We need to figure this out fast."
Mr. Alex nodded. "Let's gather whatever we can find on the roof to defend ourselves. We'll need to hold them off while we figure out how this stone works."
We quickly searched the rooftop, finding pieces of metal, bricks, and even a few loose pipes. We formed a circle around the stone, ready to defend it with our lives.
---
The door finally gave way, and the zombies poured onto the roof. Their eyes glowed with hunger, and their rotting bodies moved with surprising speed.
"Hold the line!" Mr. Alex shouted.
We fought with everything we had, our makeshift weapons clashing against the undead. The night was filled with violence and chaos, but we stood our ground, determined to protect the stone.
As the battle raged on, Kaori noticed something. "Look! The stone is glowing brighter!"
The more we fought, the brighter the stone seemed to glow. It was as if our determination and courage were feeding its power.
"Keep fighting!" I yelled. "We can do this!"
With renewed strength, we pushed back against the zombies. The stone's light grew brighter and brighter until it filled the entire rooftop with a blinding glow.
---
The zombies recoiled, their bodies disintegrating in the light. One by one, they fell, leaving nothing but ashes behind.
When the last zombie was gone, we collapsed to the ground, exhausted but victorious. The rooftop was silent, the only sound our heavy breathing.
"We did it," Davis said, his voice filled with disbelief. "We actually did it."
Mr. Alex smiled weakly. "We still have a long way to go, but we've made it this far. We can figure out the rest."
As we sat there, bathed in the light of the stone, we knew that our fight was far from over. But for the first time, we felt a glimmer of hope. We had found a way to fight back against the darkness, and we would keep fighting until we had reclaimed our world.
