As night fell, the shadows around the school deepened. We knew we had to keep moving. The zombies were getting stronger, and we needed more stones to protect us.
We decided to search the basement next. It was dark and damp, with the smell of mold in the air. The flickering lights made it even creepier. We moved carefully, our makeshift weapons ready.
Suddenly, a group of zombies burst out from a side room. Their eyes glowed with hunger, and their rotting hands reached out for us. We fought back with all our strength, swinging our weapons wildly.
One zombie grabbed Miu by the arm, trying to pull her into the darkness. She screamed, kicking and hitting it with all her might. I rushed over, bashing the zombie's head with my bat until it let go. Blood and bits of bone splattered everywhere.
Mr. Alex was surrounded by three zombies. He fought them off with a metal pipe, swinging it like a club. Each hit made a sickening crunch as it connected with the zombies' heads. He was covered in blood, but he didn't stop.
Ellis, still hurt from his earlier wound, struggled to keep a zombie from biting him. Davis jumped in, using a broken chair leg to stab the zombie in the back. The zombie fell to the ground, twitching and groaning.
We finally managed to kill all the zombies, but we were exhausted. Blood and gore covered the floor, and the air was filled with the stench of death.
"Are you okay?" I asked Miu, helping her to her feet.
She nodded, her face pale. "Yeah, thanks. That was close."
"We need to keep moving," Mr. Alex said, breathing heavily. "There might be more of them."
We continued our search, moving deeper into the basement. The farther we went, the darker and colder it got. We found an old storage room filled with dusty boxes and broken furniture. In the corner, we saw something glowing faintly.
"It's another stone," Kaori said, picking it up. "Just like the one on the roof."
"Great," Mr. Alex said. "We need to find a way to use these stones to protect the school."
As we turned to leave, we heard a loud crash. The door to the storage room burst open, and more zombies poured in. We were trapped.
"Fight!" Mr. Alex yelled, swinging his pipe at the first zombie.
The fight was even more brutal than before. Zombies came at us from all sides, their rotten teeth snapping and their claws reaching out for us. We fought back with everything we had, but they kept coming.
I swung my bat, hitting a zombie so hard its head snapped back, and it fell to the ground. Blood sprayed everywhere, covering my face and clothes. Another zombie grabbed my arm, its teeth sinking into my skin. I screamed, using my free hand to bash its head until it let go.
Kaori was fighting two zombies at once, her face twisted in fear and determination. She used a metal rod to keep them at bay, stabbing and swinging with all her might. Blood and bits of flesh flew through the air.
Ellis and Davis fought side by side, their movements slow but determined. They used anything they could find as weapons, smashing and stabbing the zombies with broken furniture and metal scraps.
Finally, we managed to kill the last zombie. The storage room was a mess of blood, gore, and broken bodies. We were all covered in cuts and bruises, but we were alive.
"We can't keep doing this," Miu said, her voice shaking. "There are too many of them."
"We need to find more stones," Mr. Alex said, his face grim. "It's the only way we can protect the school and survive."
As we made our way back to the rooftop, carrying the stone we had found, we knew that the fight was far from over. The zombies were relentless, and we would need all our strength and courage to survive. But we had each other, and as long as we stayed together, we had a chance.
Back on the rooftop, we placed the new stone next to the first one. The glow from the stones seemed to grow brighter, giving us a small sense of hope.
"We need to figure out how to use these stones to protect the whole school," Mr. Alex said. "But for now, let's rest. We have a long fight ahead of us."
As we sat there, exhausted but alive, we knew that the battle against the darkness was just beginning. But we were ready to fight, no matter what it took.
