The quiet confidence in my aunt's voice wasn't faked. I knew that. She was over a century old. She wasn't afraid to die. She just didn't want to.

Relief washed over me as I felt Rory roar into the link, and immediately begin racing closer with a fist of Gammas, strong and true.
But even as I was grateful for their readiness to stand with me, in truth, I knew they weren't going to be able to help.
This wouldn't be a battle of the bodies- I'd win one of those against Maya in a heartbeat.
No, this would be a battle of power.
Power that I had been depleting for many, many hours.
