Chapter 16 - First day at school...

Aiden and Kyle discussed longer for a while and ended it since it was getting late and Kyle still needed to get back home to rest and also prepare for the first day of last grade in senior high school.

Times like this, if Aiden was in his old body, he would be thinking about how to make good use of the term and get a recommendation letter for his admission into oxford. Getting into Oxford was one of his academic dreams as he believed that huge rewards awaited him there.

But now… it seemed like it wasn't needed. He didn't need to go to Oxford nor necessarily go to university to study for a possible profession since he was going to inherit his new father's business. If any, he only needed to get into business school and be done with it.

Aiden jumped into his bed after getting back from seeing Kyle off. He requested to see his status and it showed thus;

Some certain statistics confused him so he asked, "What does these percentages in front of my allies connote?"

[System: It is used to gauge their level of loyalty.]

"How low is ten percent?" Aiden asked, staring at Kyle's percentage. He had his own assumption concerning Aiden's friends but just wanted to confirm it.

[System: 10% loyalty means that the level of loyalty from that person towards you is so low that it flickers. The only reason the person answers to your command is because of the master tie. It also means that the ally is liable to betray you.]

"Why did Kyle do this when he knew that I'm going to be able to see the percentage of loyalty he has towards me?" Aiden pondered after absorbing the system's information.

With the way things were, it seemed as though Kyle was not someone to be trusted.

Aiden sighed then closed the screen, "I wonder what Sophia is doing now.." Seeing how high her loyalty percentage towards him was made his heart wavered to her. Apart from his mum in his past life, he had never received any love from the opposite gender so this affected him hugely.

[System: Do you want to connect a mind link with her?]

"Huh?" Aiden sat upright on his bed, "You mean that I can do that?"

[System: Yes, when you purchase it from your inventory. Originally, it is meant to be earned when you complete a task but since you need it now, you can buy it exclusively from the system's inventory.]

"Oh…how much is it?" Aiden asked with his brows knitted.

[System: 3000 Credits]

"Pfft…" Aiden coughed as he heard the system words, "How am I supposed to get that…I don't even have up to that amount of credits."

[System: You can buy it on credit though there will be an interest of 200 credits.]

"I'll leave it out," Aiden shook his head as he laid back on the bed.

"It's going to be a long day tomorrow…" he muttered before sleep took over him.

*Knock* Knock* Knock*

The soft knocking on the door of his room woke Aiden up from his sleep. He rose from the bed and rested his back to the bed frame as he rubbed his eyes with his hands.

He stretched his body before dropping his foot on the floor. He stretched properly as he stood upright. He staggered towards the door and unlocked it.

He opened the door to meet maids, rows of maids lined at his door.

"What do you guys need?" He asked, still pretty much in the sleep world.

"Young master, it's your new day at school for the last year. We are here to get you ready." The head of them announced, finally bringing him out of his reverie.

"Oh…" Aiden only managed to say and then he opened the door properly to let them in.

The maids all entered and some went towards his bed to get it done and the other started placing his school dress on the couches and setting some other things.

"Young master, you should get in the bathroom and have your bath or do you need my assistance with that?" One of the maids walked up to him who was still lost looking at them and asked politely, shining him the warmest smile.

Somehow, it felt like an insult to him rather than the way she portrayed it to be. Aiden only managed to shake his head, sending her back to do what she came to do.

He walked to the bathroom and filled the tub with water to have his bath.

"When I'm not a king, why the king's treatment? Isn't it kings that have maids and all that? So weird…" The absurdity of the rich way of life managed to keep Aiden's company as he had his bath.

He came out of the bathroom to see his room empty. "Finally, I can have the space to myself with no one in my face," he said as he breathed out a long sigh.

He sat down on the side of the bed after cleaning the water from his body and applied lotion to his body as he got himself dressed.

Aiden stood in front of the mighty mirror standing in his room as he fixed his white shirt, connecting the cufflinks into the holes.

"I've always wanted to do this," he muttered as he checked himself out.

He adjusted his tie, which bore the school's abbreviated name, and then draped his navy blue blazer with a school crest on the left chest pocket over his shirt.

The school uniform was a corporate one, comprising trousers, shirt, and suit for the boys, while the ladies wore a skirt, shirt, and jacket. He paired the outfit with dark gray trousers and black shoes, polished to a high shine.

With a final adjustment to his tie, Aiden gave himself a nod of approval in the mirror.

"Time to get to work," he said, his eyes focused on the tasks ahead. He grabbed his bag and headed out of his room, ready to take on the day.

Aiden left his room and walked down the stairs to the sitting room where he saw his mom and Sophia in the kitchen with some other maids.

"Hi, Mom," Aiden said, giving Julianna a quick peck on the cheek as he approached her.

"Hi, Sophia," he added, nodding towards Sophia, who was busy mixing flour in the kitchen. He still had unfinished business with her, tasks he needed to complete.

"You should head to the dining room for breakfast, your secretary is waiting outside to brief you on some things before you head to school," Julianna said.

Aiden nodded, though he had no idea what she was talking about. As he walked to the dining room, he spotted a maid approaching his mom in the kitchen. He deliberately stepped in her path, causing her to trip and fall onto her back.

"Ouch!" she cried out in pain. Aiden rushed to help her up, trying to stifle a snicker.

"Sorry," he said, though he couldn't help but feel a thrill of satisfaction at completing his long-pending task. He left the kitchen, feeling a bit guilty but also pleased with himself. After finishing his breakfast, he headed outside, ready to face the day.
