Aiden strode past the empty hallway and arrived at the front of the classroom, where he would have his first major class.
After he was done with it, he would be able to have a class with just the elites.
The power dynamics in the school accommodated the preferences of the rich kids, but looking at how strict the principal was, things might have been slightly disrupted.
Aiden sighed as he recalled the principal's words. No wonder everything was different; it was in place to prevent any other deaths - more than twenty! It was quite a lot.
"Let's go in," Aiden heard Kyle's voice behind him, urging him, "You don't plan to stand here all day, do you?"
"Nope." He replied curtly and then left Kyle to enter the classroom. As he entered, the room became silent, just like when the white-haired kid entered the assembly hall.
....
"This marks the end of this class…" Aiden heard the teacher say, concluding the class for that day.
Very soon, the bell rang, and his face turned towards the window side. He wouldn't deny being slightly irritated by the way his classmates were looking at him, but what could he do?
"Aiden, let's go." Kyle's tapping on his shoulder brought him out of his thoughts.
"To where?" He hastily asked, his mind still foggy.
"To the cafeteria. Aren't you hungry?"
After a few moments of banter, which he didn't know why he engaged in, he stood up from his chair and followed Kyle to the cafeteria. He decided to make Kyle his guide for the day.
The cafeteria was spacious, with tables and chairs neatly arranged, and the waiters and waitresses were neatly dressed. As they entered the hall, the room fell silent, their influence on the school becoming evident.
"I told ya he can't be dead," someone whispered.
"What do you think he's here to do? The world is better off without him; he possibly can't do anything to us again."
"The look in his eyes has definitely changed."
"Why didn't he die?"
Aiden could hear different whispers from the students as they focused on their meals, seemingly oblivious to everything else.
Aiden sighed and walked through the path the students had cleared for him. They didn't even need to queue for their food, as the students quickly made way for them to get served first.
He picked up a plate and got himself served from the available food before walking off. He stood in the center of the hall, waiting for Kyle to finish getting his meal.
"What are you doing, standing there?" Kyle asked as he finished getting his food.
"Waiting for you, what else could it be?" Aiden replied, his gaze fixed on a certain student in the hall.
"Never mind, scrap that," he said, walking down to the student and handing his plate to Kyle. "Take this, help drop it on my seat."
Aiden walked off after handing his food to Kyle, who managed to mutter, "We don't actually really have a seat here," as he watched Aiden approach a student.
As Aiden walked, the system notification clouded his face;
[Ding!
Daily task triggered.
You are in the midst of students, do what a typical demon, descendant of the devil would do. Bully a student, cause terror!]
He cracked his knuckles as he walked up to Kai.
"Hi, Kai." Those were the words Kai heard before Aiden's fist landed on his face.
"What the fuck, Aiden. Are you nuts?" Kai asked, stumbling on the ground, blood spilling from his mouth.
"I kind of heard you talking about wanting me dead, and I don't really like that…"
Aiden masked his reason as he looked around the room. "I mean, all of you certainly don't like me, and you've said a few words, but death? You want me dead?"
Aiden laughed hysterically as he stepped on Kai's hand, which was trying to lift him up. "I'm afraid you'll do more than talking."
He used his foot to hold Kai in place as he turned to one of Kai's friends. "Hand over his food."
"Yes, boss." The student he commanded didn't waste any time, passing him Kai's plate. After collecting the plate from him, Aiden proceeded to pour the food all over Kai's body.
"Sorry for beating you…I mean, I just needed to complete something, and you were the perfect fit."
"As you can see, I helped by feeding you your meal, since your hands might not be able to do that for now." Aiden stood upright after finishing his deed.
He looked at Kai writhing under his foot, a certain happiness flooding his mind, but he shook his head to shake it off.
He looked around the hall to see Kyle laughing as he watched him, and some other students recording him. He sighed before removing his foot from Kai and walked over to meet Kyle.
He stopped in his tracks before getting to his seat and said, pointing over a few students, "Don't just make this a movie. Take him to the health center."
"What did you do that for? It was fun," Kyle said as Aiden took his seat, laughing.
"It had to be done, and he was the perfect fit," Aiden replied, digging into his meal.
"Come to think of it, I was a pro in that," he muttered, watching his slightly injured knuckles heal.
They conversed for a while as they ate their food until the hall became silent, as if someone important had entered or fear had gripped them.
"I think you should definitely turn around and do something about what we're looking at now," Aiden heard Kyle's voice, a little distorted, as he was still immersed in his thoughts.
He turned to check what was causing the trepidation and was surprised. Before him was Kai, who looked like a zombie, battered and bruised, with flesh hanging loosely from his bones and eyes that seemed to hold a hint of death.
[Ding!
An undead is bearing killing intent at you. Eliminate him and let their kind know their place.]
"An undead?" Aiden was perplexed. "You mean there are undeads in this world."
"What other creatures are there, again? Monsters, Ghosts..."
[System: Yes, there are many creatures you can't even imagine.]
"What the fuck?" Aiden sucked in a breath as he watched Kai lunge at him, and he quickly moved himself to the other side. Kyle's attack launched on the table they were sitting at earlier, shattering it to pieces immediately.
"System, what weapons do I have?" Aiden asked, dodging Kai's attacks.
[System: I'm afraid you don't have any weapons, except for a few abilities. However, you can buy weapons.]
"What abilities have I got, then?!" Aiden exclaimed, desperate for a way to defend himself.
