The streets he was walking down were quiet with the exception of a few cars passing by. There were houses lined up beside each other all the way down, the only thing separating the houses was a traditional wood fence. He walked up to his new house with a small sign on the front labeled "IKATI HOUSEHOLD." It was a small thin 2 level home with no garage. He opened the gate closing it behind him as he entered the front yard, he took a step down and opened the small door into the first floor of the house. It was empty with boxes everywhere.
"Dad, I'm home!" he could hear creaking sounds upstairs as his dad came down the stairs to his right and stood in front of him face covered in dust. Aisuru recognizes Mia not hugging him.
"Welcome home, Mia… sorry for all the dust" he wipes most of the dust off his face and puts the broom down.
"Don't worry… I see you've been cleaning?" He looks at piles of dust and trash bags around.
"Yeah, this place was an utter mess when I first entered… I coughed my head off because of the dust in here" he chuckled as Mia grabbed the broom and dust pan.
"Let me help dad" Mia started sweeping up the piles of dust everywhere.
"That would be appreciated," he smiled and returned upstairs. Mia kept sweeping the dust up and dumping it into the trash cans. He held the broom and walked upstairs where his dad was and continued sweeping.
"Hey dad?" he dumped the dust into another trash bag and looked at his dad.
"Yeah, what is it?" he started unpacking boxes onto the cold floor.
"The AWA wants us to move into the dorms" he stopped unpacking the box and stood up slowly and hugged him.
"Please don't leave me Mia… you're my son…" Mia didn't know what to say and just stood there.
"I-I don't…" his dad broke the hug and looked out the window at the setting sun breaching the horizon.
"So… you're leaving me?... please don't go…" Mia, still not knowing what to say, turned and looked out the window at the same sunset. The two jumped as the phone started ringing. He ran over to the phone struggling to figure out how the old Japanese phone worked, eventually figuring it out and holding it up to his ear.
"Hello?.... Yes this is Aisuru Ikati…. Okay will do, thank you…" he hung up the phone and hugged Mia again. Mia was surprised but didn't react and returned the hug confused.
"You good?" his dad looked up at him and broke the hug quickly.
"Sorry, AWA just called about your teacher forgetting to mention that you can come home on the weekends…" Mia smiled slightly and looked at his dad.
"I'm glad for you… I love you dad…" the two embraced yet again. Eventually they broke the hug. They grabbed the mattresses out and laid them down. It was already late by the time they finished so they decided to leave the rest for tomorrow. Mia sat down on the couch beside his dad and looked at the ceiling.
"So much has changed since the beginning of this year… huh dad…" his dad looked at him and stood up and walked up to the T.V.
"Yeah… so much…" he started wiring up the TV so they had something to watch.
"How's your job? What is your job?" he was still looking at the ceiling as his dad finished wiring up the TV.
"I'm retired… remember?" he sat down and grabbed a beer from a wooden box. He sits back down and starts drinking it.
"Don't get yourself drunk dad… I don't wanna deal with that" his dad laughed as he turned on the TV while taking another drink.
The two played board games and watched TV. Mia keeps an eye on his dad's increasing drinking problem. Mia sat at the table with a glass of milk in his hand. It was late and quiet, the only sounds being the sounds of the occasional car passing.
"I feel kinda… I don't know… sad" a voice echoed from the open window beside them. Mia's dad jumped up as his fists caught fire and stood there in case of attack. Mia on the other hand stood up slowly looking at the figure of whom was sitting on the window cill with an expression that screamed of both sadness and anger.
"What do you want with us, Nohan?" His dad was ready to jump into action at the slightest threatening move by Nohan, of which was now visible to have Black hair and dark eyes, as well as a light skin tone. The red scarf around his neck blew in the light breeze as another car passed by.
"Oh it's nothing, just wondering if I still exist as a normal person in your eyes" his eyes were baggy and seemed tired beyond the point of recognition. Mia took a step in front of his dad, surprising him.
"Of course Nohan… I'm just confused…" his dad stepped back from behind Mia as the figure's hair blew in the wind. A relatively noticeable fire emblem on his cheek.
"Why don't you tell me… Kat" his face was only filled with sadness now as he was still sitting on the window cill. Requiem asking Mia.
"How many people have lost their lives because of your hands?" Mia was surprised to see his friend in this state. Nohan didn't say anything as he exhaled and fell off the window cill from the second floor they were on. Mia jumped forward and looked out the window and glanced around not seeing him anywhere.
"Who was that Mia?" his dad's voice was filled with fright as he sat on the couch and Mia closed the window. Mia turned around and sighed as he sat on the couch, Aisuru noticing the sadness in Mia's eyes. And his eyes were covered by the shadow of his long hair.
"Remember my best friend? Nohan?" his dad instantly recognized him.
"What… happened to him?" Mia shook his head, he said the only thing he could think of.
"I…. I don't know… I don't know anymore" the two just sat there as the new played on the tv in the silence.
"...you better get to bed… you have school tomorrow" he held out his fist in front of Mia, Mia turning his head to look at him. His dad lifted a small smile at him as Mia fist bumped him and stood up and chuckled.
"Okay dad, night" he smiled as he turned around and walked downstairs to his room. He closed his door behind him, making sure it stayed closed. His room had a small closet opposite the entrance door, with a window looking out onto their front yard.
He closed the blinds his dad had seemingly put up before he got home and sat down on his mattress. He sighed and flopped on his bed questioning what had just happened. He got ready for bed and laid down under the covers on his mattress. No matter how hard he tried he couldn't stop thinking about Nohan and why he looked and acted the way he did.
