The next morning, Cassie woke up with an odd feeling. Her head felt a little dizzy, and her body was weak, but she forced herself to get up. The morning sun gently illuminated her bedroom, but its warmth did little to ease the anxiety creeping into her heart.
Cassie walked to the kitchen, trying to follow her usual routine. She brewed a cup of coffee and sat at the dining table, staring out the window. The sound of birds chirping and the gentle spring breeze seemed calming, but her thoughts kept returning to Kevin. There was something she couldn't shake from her mind, a feeling that Kevin was hiding something from her.
After breakfast, Cassie decided to call Kevin. She needed to hear his voice to make sure everything was okay. Her phone rang several times before Kevin finally picked up.
