Kai crouched down, looking toward Michael at the kid's eye level. He pointed to the display of costumes along the back wall.
"Do you like any of these?" Kai asked.
"Yeah!" Michael cheered. "I like... Bluey, and the vampire."
Kai chuckled. It seemed almost all kids loved the blue dog. He had watched it a few times when he babysat him and thought it was actually pretty cute.
The vampire? No.
"Alright," Kai nodded. "How about Bluey? And Mika can get an adult-sized one of Bluey's mom."
"Yes!"
Kai grabbed the correct-size package off the display. He handed it to his nephew. "Take this to your mom."
Michael nodded and excitedly ran off, clutching the costume against his chest as he ran to go find Mika.
Kai sighed and looked around. Everyone else was still up front at the counter. He took the opportunity to sneak out of the store from the side entrance.
