Kai's head was planted face-down on the desk next to the computer at the nurse's station. He groaned. He was too tired.
Even with Liam poking and prodding him to wake up and get ready, he was still in a rush.
He had slept so hard, but it wasn't for long enough. He needed more sleep. His body was weak.
He needed coffee. He needed salt.
He wanted fries again.
"Ugh," Kai mumbled incoherently against the desk.
The desk was so uncomfortable, but it was more comfortable than keeping his head up.
"I see you're awake," a female voice called.
"I'm asleep," Kai muttered.
"No."
"Go away, Nancy," Kai grumbled. "Go do some actual work. Like, change briefs or something."
"No." Nancy frowned. "It's not even four yet. I will change them at four."
"But isn't Liam working?" Kai pressed his forehead harder against the desk.
"Yeah," Nancy stated. "But that's because he's answering all the call lights."
