Chapter 13 - Searching For Teammates

Three days later, Gilgamel was delighted that Dodo had finally returned to his side with the two Owl Tears Potions that Madam Teressa made.

He kept one of the Owl Tears Potions for himself and handed the other to Junior as per their agreement.

On Gilgamel's way back from Gil's Appraisal Room, he also did not forget to sell the remaining White Spider Fruit in his hand to Medelien, hoping that she could advance to level 9 at the same time as him.

Inside the room, Gilgamel did not hesitate to pour the Owl Tears Potion into his mouth.

Immediately, a chill spread from his throat to every pore of his body. Simultaneously, a surge of mana flowed through him like a rushing river. Gilgamel didn't ignore this sensation and quickly channelled it, distributing it evenly among the four elementals in his mana sources.

The mana source is the storage of mana inside the wizards' bodies. It appears as a blob of immaterialized energy with different colours depending on the elemental affinity that the wizard has.

Gilgamel's mana source comprised four colours: blue for water, red for fire, white for wind, and brown for earth.

Two conditions need to be taken into account to enhance the level of wizards with chaos talent.

Firstly, it is essential to increase the mana level to a certain extent. However, chaos talents require a substantial amount of mana, resulting in slower progress compared to other magic talents.

Secondly, it is crucial to maintain a balance of elements in the mana source. Specifically, Gilgamel needed to evenly distribute the mana he acquired among the four elements in his mana source.

This process took the whole day before Gilgamel finally opened his eyes and sensed a change in his strength.

He let out a cold breath as the information panel immediately appeared before his eyes.

The smile on Gilgamel's face couldn't be contained after he saw the change in his level.

Although he had anticipated this, he still felt pleased with the discovery of his significantly increased strength.

He instantly felt relieved as the recent feelings of inferiority weighing down his heart vanished in the blink of an eye.

Gilgamel smirked as images of Collin, Farad, Magnus, and other exceptionally talented people flashed through his mind. He inwardly said, 'See, with resources and opportunities, even a sloth like me can catch up with a cheetah.'

He stood up, stretching his body. The cracking sound echoed like celebratory fireworks.

The first trial was only three days away. With Gilgamel's current level, he was even more confident that he would perform well there.

The only thing left was to fill two spots in his team.

Hence, his plan today is to invite the two people who could fill those two spots.

To be honest, Gilgamesh didn't have the confidence to invite the two people he had in mind. However, one wouldn't know if one didn't try.

"Dodo, let's go out!"

Gilgamel called to his dog.

"Woof!"

Dodo happily responded and immediately followed its master out of the room.

He strolled down the corridor, his eyes darting left and right in search of a specific number.

"No. 600... No. 500... No. 400.... No. 300..."

The Dormitory on the first floor had a thousand rooms, which precisely matched the number of members on the first floor.

However, there was no Anywhere Curtain in the Dormitory, so the members could only walk manually if they wanted to visit other rooms.

Fortunately, the wizards had extraordinary energy, so walking for hours would not exhaust them.

Gilgamel's room was quite a distance from the room he intended to visit, so it took some time to locate.

Just as Gilgamel was busy looking around the room, he suddenly heard the sound of footsteps coming from the opposite direction.

At first, Gilgamel didn't pay much attention to it, as it was customary for members to pass each other in this corridor. However, that thought vanished when he heard the familiar voice of the person walking in the opposite direction.

"It's been a while, Gilgamel."

As the darkness receded, a handsome young man with yellow hair, clad in a sleeveless black t-shirt, gradually emerged.

Gilgamel smiled and said, "It's been a while, Farad."

"What business does a busy man like you have in a place like this?" Farad said sarcastically.

Gilgamel did not feel offended by these words but calmly replied: "Although I am rarely in the castle, I am still a first-floor member. So, where are you going, Farad? You've missed many stairs to get here."

The Dormitory is expansive and lengthy, with numerous staircases leading up to the Aurium, dividing multiple rooms.

"I'm looking for someone."

The answer Farad provided was brief, yet Gilgamel could discern an underlying significance in Farad's gaze.

"Woah... whoever it is, he must be very unlucky."

The corner of Farad's mouth twitched slightly. If it weren't forbidden to fight within the castle, he would have immediately electrified the person before him with his lightning magic.

"It looks like you're also looking for someone, judging by the fact that you're also skipping a lot of stairs."

"I'm looking for teammates." Gilgamel didn't deny it as he responded calmly.

"Teammates?" Farad was taken aback and asked, "You haven't gotten any teammates yet?"

"That's right! So, I don't have time to chat with you. Goodbye~"

Gilgamel was about to continue on his way, but Farad quickly stopped him.

"Who do you want to invite?"

"Definitely not you. So, don't worry."

Gilgamesh's response successfully provoked Farad; he couldn't help but retort, "Why? Are you afraid I'll decline your invitation?"

Gilgamel raised his eyebrows as he carefully looked at Farad for a long moment before saying, "I was about to invite Magnus."

As expected, the moment that name left Gilgamel's lips, Farad's expression contorted immediately. He gritted his teeth and exclaimed, "You chose that bastard over me?"

Gilgamel's cheeks reddened slightly. He glanced right and left before complaining, "Can you please not make that sound weird? Also, you don't even like me; why should I bother inviting you to my team?"

Gilgamesh's words rendered Farad speechless. Nonetheless, he persisted, asking, "But why Magnus?"

"What's wrong with Magnus?" Gilgamel asked in bafflement.

"That's right, what's wrong with me?"

The moment this voice emerged, Gilgamel and Farid were startled as they both turned towards the source.

"Yo!"

A young man with fiery red hair raised one hand. He smiled and said, "I don't mean to interrupt your time together, but I have no choice because you mentioned my name. So, what's it all about? It sounds like fun~."

Initially, he had intended to go to the cafeteria for lunch, but who would have thought that he would witness an intriguing scene between Farad and Gilgamel not far from his room?

"Nothing." Gilgamel shrugged his shoulders and helplessly said, "I just wanted to invite you to join my team, but this guy seems to object to my intention."

"Form a team with you?" Magnus's eyes widened in surprise.

If someone else had invited him to form a team, his reaction would have been dull and indifferent. However, this was an invitation from Gilgamel, a man who had always avoided him like the plague.

Then again, when he saw Farad's sour face, a slight smile formed at the corner of his mouth as he agreed: "Sure, I will join your team."

"So easy?" Gilgamel was taken aback and asked again, "Are you sure? I haven't even mentioned the benefits I will offer."

In order to persuade Magnus, he was even willing to give up some conditions, such as doing appraisals or configuring potions for free.

Do not underestimate those two conditions. Whether it was performing appraisals or configuring potions, they could not be bought with money alone.

Even though Owl had his own library that contained numerous books, there were still many things that books could not explain.

However, his appraisal was unique. Gilgamel could provide highly detailed information about objects that people wanted to know about, even for high-level objects, as long as they were willing to pay the price.

Configuring potions is a complex task that requires highly skilled Potioneers. Their fees are usually very high, and personal connections are also necessary.

Gilgamel also provides this service, but he only does it occasionally. Additionally, it only occurs when the customer offers a substantial price.

Only with those two premises did Gilgamel dare persuade Magnus, the third-ranked member on the first floor.

Who would have thought Magnus would easily agree before Gilgamel could reveal all his cards?

Magnus chuckled and said, "How could I reject your invitation, knowing that you've chosen me over Farad?"

He glanced at Farad with a smug expression, feeling momentarily victorious.

Gilgamel was speechless.

Was this even a competition?

Also, can you not make it sound weird?

These two really have a knack for rubbing people the wrong way!

"I will join your team as well!" Farad suddenly exclaimed, his voice echoing in the corridor.

Gilgamel became even more speechless.

Then again, he wasn't that surprised; after all, this was what he was aiming for in the first place.

"Is that so? Then, we will be teammates from now on. We will meet again on the day of the First Trial. I hope you don't go back on your words! Bye~"

After saying that, Gilgamel hastily departed, waving cheerfully as if worried they might change their minds.

Gilgamel's unexpected departure left Magnus and Farad feeling stunned.

It took them quite some time to realize that Gilgamel had set them up.

"Hahaha, he got us!"

In a split second, Magnus bursted into laughter.

This was the first time a fellow member has dared to set him up like this.

What a bizarre experience!

"Idiot." Farad rolled his eyes at Magnus before he left.

Magnus pursed his mouth and said inwardly, 'If I'm an idiot, then what are you?'

Ultimately, he places both hands behind his head and casually strolls away, whistling.
