"There we go." It's now the next morning, marking the fifth day since I arrived here with Charlotte, but judging from how she sounds, today seems like it'll be a lot different than the others.
She dressed me in what looked to be some sort of uniform that's mostly black with some white plating on the front and my shoulders for added protection. Charlotte also wore a uniform, but is quite a bit different than mine. There's no added plating on hers, but still had the black theme like mine, covering most of her skin.
"Alright, you ready?"
"What's happening?"
"We're going to talk with some people for a bit, so just stick close to me and let me do all the talking, okay?"
"Okay." Her tone comes across as serious, but she still shows me a soft smile as she pats me on the head. So all I have to do is keep quiet and stay with Charlotte? I think I can manage that.
"Good, then let's go, shall we?" She takes hold of my hand before leading me to the door to the room. Charlotte told me to never open this door, which I did follow, but it appears that I'm finally getting to see what's on the either side. She soon puts a card on the scanner of the door where a 'beep' sound could then be heard, and in the next moment, Charlotte opened the door to reveal a white hallway, which Charlotte soon brings me into.
"Stay real close to me, Shiro." At her words, I move in closer while still holding her hand. I chose to keep quiet as I'm not sure if I'm allowed to or not yet. But as we turned a corner, revealing more white halls, I could see many other people exiting and entering doors off to the sides. Charlotte however, continues to walk past the rooms as I keep as close as possible to her. I was a bit worried if I'd end up hurting others, but even as I look at the people exiting and entering the rooms as we pass, their heads remain where they are. I internally heave a sigh of relief as some of the tension in my body dissipates.
"You're doing great, just a bit more." She tightens her hold of my hand just a bit as I continue to look around at the many room we pass.
Eventually, we come to a door that is locked behind another scanner thing that our room had, only this time, Charlotte chooses to knock instead of using her card. Could it be that her card only works on certain doors? But in the next moment, the door makes a 'beep' sound like the other door before opening. And upon entering the room, I was met with a much more darker room as the floor was black and was made of some sort of material that's similar to the floor in our room.
"Lieutenant." Just then, and old man's voice echoes through the room as I immediately recognize it. It's the same voice that was speaking to Charlotte back before I was brought to Charlotte's room.
"Sir." I guess this is where I shut up and stay close to Charlotte.
"I see that you're still in one piece."
"Yes. I've ran into zero problem in regards to the girl." She's not referring to me by my name? I've slowly gotten used to being called Shiro, so now being called 'girl' feels a bit weird; especially by Charlotte...
"Your report says that the girl has no reaction to human blood?" It was then that another woman's voice entered the mix. A woman with long, black hair, seeming to be quite proud."
"Yes, Major Frigg. I confirmed it a couple times, but she does appear to have a bias for demi-human blood, rather than human."
"Now isn't that something..." The Major appears to be smiling as she looks over at me. She's quite tall...
"That's quite the risk though, Lieutenant." The old man speaks once more.
"Yes. But I deemed that it was safe to do so. The girl has also obeyed me throughout these five days. I see no issue for things to continue, General." Charlotte bows her head to the old man, something that I have not seen until now.
"You're quite eager to go out there, huh."
"Yes, sir."
"I don't see why not." The Major speaks up once more, seeming to be backing up Charlotte.
"Frigg-"
"Yes, yes~ Charlotte." Her words seems to be quite fluid as she interrupts the old man's words. I would've thought the man would get angry, but it doesn't appear to be the case.
"Yes?"
"Do keep in touch with me, okay?"
"Understood." She smiles at Charlotte before shifting her gaze back to the old man. There's many other people in the room, but they all remain silent, seeming to be here just to observe this situation. All of them however directing their gaze on me.
"We'll proceed from here as planned, General. I'll notify everyone if something happens." The Major is the first to speak up, directing everyone's gazes.
"But what are we to do with the harvests?" Suddenly, another man's voice comes up before the General could reply. I couldn't help but take notice to the word 'harvest.'
"Tsk..." That was when I heard Charlotte click her tongue. It was quiet, but as I looked up, I could tell that she's quite annoyed. "Don't you already have enough?"
"For now, but-"
"Then shut your mouth!" Her words are filled with anger as I could see that her eyes are slowly changing from gold, to red. At her words, the man freezes up as the whole room goes quiet. This is bad, right?
