M'gann, feeling remorseful for her earlier telepathic intrusion, approached Superboy, who was brooding in a corner. "Superboy, I'm really sorry. I didn't mean to invade your privacy."
"Don't talk to me," Superboy snapped, his tone harsh. M'gann's shoulders slumped, and she turned to leave, but Superboy glanced back and sighed, standing up to follow her.
Meanwhile, Aqualad knocked on Toneri's room door and heard a calm "Come in." Upon entering, he was struck by the elegance of the room, adorned with simple yet sophisticated decor. In the center, Toneri was meditating mid-air, legs crossed, exuding a serene yet powerful aura. The silence was almost palpable before Aqualad spoke.
"Miss Martian was wrong for what she did, though it wasn't intentional. It's what she's used to."
Toneri opened his milky eyes, causing Aqualad to feel a moment of discomfort before Toneri's gaze softened. "It's not as if she caused me any discomfort; I just don't like intrusions in my mind." Toneri floated down and walked towards Aqualad. "Had that been someone else, though, I would have shattered their mind beyond mortal repair."
Aqualad felt a chill run down his spine, thinking, 'I'll have to warn magan against touching upon his mind then,' before speaking aloud. "We are going to check out Miss Martian's surprise. Would you like to come with us?"
Toneri considered for a moment. "Hmm, well, it's better than nothing. Lead the way."
They all walked down to the garage and saw a red, oval-shaped craft with black lining. "It's my Martian bioship," M'gann said excitedly.
"Cute. Not aerodynamic, but cute," Wally said.
'Interesting,' Toneri thought. M'gann's ship did not look that impressive at first glance.
"It's at rest, silly. I'll wake it," M'gann said before the ship suddenly transformed, its metal shifting like liquid, gaining large wings and becoming a more impressive vessel.
Toneri raised an eyebrow, a small smile forming. 'It was emitting a low life signature, but now I can sense it properly. This ship is very much alive. I take back my earlier thought—it is impressive.'
The bioship then levitated up, turned around, and a door morphed from the back, opening to provide an entrance. M'gann began walking towards the ship while the others stood there. She turned to them. "Well, are you coming?" she asked.
Toneri moved closer to the ship, examining it before touching it and sending a small pulse of chakra into it. The ship hummed gently before the red color began to shine. M'gann asked worriedly, "What did you do?"
The rest looked at Toneri, who removed his hand, and the ship returned to its natural state. "I wanted to test out a theory," he said before smiling. "You have an impressive ship, M'gann."
M'gann smiled proudly. "Thank you."
They all soon made their way to the cockpit of the ship, and everyone took a seat in the chairs the ship provided, which then strapped them in. M'gann sat in a separate seat acting as the captain's chair, where she piloted the ship from.
"Red Tornado, please open the bay doors," M'gann said, communicating with the android, who complied and opened the doors.
The ship then flew out of the doors, and M'gann piloted it through the air at high speed.
"This is incredible!" Robin exclaimed, peering at the ocean.
"She sure is," Wally said, staring at M'gann dreamily. Toneri rolled his eyes at Wally's antics while M'gann looked at him. "I mean, the ship. Like all ships, she is a 'she.'" Wally corrected nervously.
Toneri looked at Wally while shaking his head. Wally noticed and smiled sheepishly.
"Fast on his feet, not so much with his mouth," Robin said to the Martian.
"Dudes!" Wally exclaimed.
As the others were talking, Kaldur decided to talk with Superboy after his outburst with M'gann back at the cave. "I don't need to have psychic powers to guess what you are thinking right now," the Atlantean said. "You overreacted, and you're not sure how to apologize. Just say you're sorry." However, the clone didn't reply.
M'gann looked at him sadly. Robin noticed this and decided to ease the pressure on her. "He'll come around."
"He doesn't seem to like me that much," she replied.
"You guys do realize that he has super-hearing, right?" Wally reminded them. Superboy didn't look at them, but the Martian was a little embarrassed.
"Hey, how about showing us a little Martian shape-shifting?" Robin asked, trying to change the topic. M'gann stood up and changed into a female version of Robin. She twirled around and changed into a female version of Kid Flash before turning into a female form of Toneri with long flowing white hair and pale skin.
"Is it wrong that I think I'm hot? And omg, female Toneri is just..." Wally asked with a goofy grin on his face. Toneri rolled his eyes and shook his head. 'Hmm, it's like Henge no Jutsu (Transformation Technique) but not quite. Where Henge is just an illusion, she seems to actually change her form,' Toneri thought.
"Impressive," Robin said, clapping. "But you're not exactly going to fool anyone with those."
"Mimicking boys is a lot harder," M'gann admitted sheepishly.
"My clothes are organic, just like the ship; they respond to my mental commands," she said in response to Aqualad's question.
"As long as they are the only ones," Superboy huffed. M'gann looked down.
"Don't mind him. Cadmus's telepathic lab rats left a bad taste in his brain," Wally said. She nodded. Wally then turned to Toneri. "Just look at Toneri—he's not annoyed anymore."
Toneri looked at him and said, "It's pointless holding a grudge for what she did. She communicated in ways she's used to. If I am to blame anyone, it'll be her uncle for not educating her beforehand."
M'gann silently mouthed "sorry" before Toneri nodded at her. Wally smiled and asked, "Say, Toneri, what else can you do with your powers?"
Toneri gave a brief explanation. "Chakra is the combination of both physical and spiritual energy that exists in every single living being on the planet, such as people, animals, and plants. I have the ability to manipulate chakra and use it for my abilities." He demonstrated by holding up his fingers, and at the tip of each finger, an element manifested: fire, wind, water, earth, and lightning. The elements danced around his fingers, and the team watched in shock and awe.
"That's incredibly versatile," Robin said.
Toneri then canceled out his powers. Wally looked impressed and then turned to M'gann. "What about you, Ms. M? Can you do that ghosting through walls thing like Martian Manhunter can?"
"Density shifting? No, it's a very advanced technique," she responded.
"Flash can vibrate his molecules to phase through walls," Robin said, pointing at Wally. "When he tries it, he gets a bloody nose." He chuckled.
"Dude!" Wally hissed, not wanting to be embarrassed in front of a pretty girl.
"Here's something I can do," M'gann said. Around them, the ship seemed to fade away completely, along with them. "Camouflage mode," she said.
"Red Tornado to Miss Martian," a sudden robotic voice called over a communicator in the ceiling. "An emergency alarm has been triggered at the Happy Harbor Power Plant. I suggest you investigate covertly. I am sending you the coordinates now."
"Received," M'gann said in a new serious tone. "Adjusting trajectory."
Robin sighed. "Tornado's just keeping us busy again."
"It's not like we have anything better to do," Superboy said after remaining silent for a while.
"Well, a small fire is what led us to find Superboy," M'gann pointed out. "Might as well see what caused this alarm."
"I think I know why," Toneri said, gesturing to his right. They all turned and saw a tornado heading their way.
M'gann tried to avoid it, but the current pulled them into the funnel of the tornado. They were spinning around in the twister with seemingly no end. Toneri used Wind Style, enveloping the ship with his wind chakra, negating the effects of the tornado. Luckily, M'gann was able to pilot the ship out of the twister before sustaining any serious damage. She gently landed the ship in the parking lot, and they stepped out, watching the workers evacuate from the building.
"Remind me, are tornados common in New England?" Kaldur asked before turning to face his team. He noticed they were missing someone. "Where's Robin?" They looked around but found no sign of him, except for his mischievous laugh that seemed to come from inside the building.
Toneri shook his head at Robin's antics, thinking, 'Too hasty.'
"But he was just here?" M'gann said.
"Believe us, he does that a lot," Wally replied before they all rushed inside the power plant.
