Stuck in a hospital, once again. I need to calm down. So, today is the day I fight with Rayne, if he won. There's a knock at the door before it opens. "It's me."
"Rayne. Hello." His big steps fill the silent room. "How'd you manage to mess yourself up this time?" Turning my head to look out the window, "I don't know. I heard a voice repeat "again." I didn't even know my arm had burned until I had come here. I did feel a surge in my arm before passing out though."
"A surge?" He asked. "Along with the voice, I felt my arm burning. Of course, I didn't think it was actually burning."
"Well," he begun, "Better be ready by the fight today. It's your last resting day." While sliding my legs off the bed I let out a groan. A sharp pain shot through my arm. My other hand clasps the injury. "Calm down. You don't need to get yourself in some unreversible injury." Rayne stands at my side. He's a tall guy. With his height alone, he towers over most people, including myself. Any hit from him with that axe is for sure to leave me injured. Even at the end of the tournament, I've only seen him fight once. "you'll be the one in here next time, Rayne. Today is where we settle."
The tournament is finally ready to begin.
"Okay! Today is the final day for the tournament! Can you all give us a giant CHEER!"
The crowd roars with excitement. The man who continues to be hospitalized versus the man who has yet to touch the medical room.
"Now, both are contestants have yet to lose! As expected! Only today will one of them lose! So, I'll ask out contestants some questions! Beginning with Lare! Lare, what do you believe will be the outcome of this match?"
"I believe I'll win."
"Bah! What a basic answer! Now! Rayne, how do YOU believe this match will go!"
"My skills will be challenged but, I will come out on top."
The crowd releases a louder cheer this time, chanting Raynes name.
"There we have it! Rayne and Lare have each given their beliefs! Let's see if either are correct!"
My mouth forms a smile and Rayne smiles back. The announcer begins to count down from 10.
part 2
"Drawl's Bolt!" As the bolt flies at Rayne, he dodges it. "HAAA!" Swoosh, I dodge. Another strike. I continue weaving his attacks. "Defensive play?" He shouts. "Only way I can play into you!" A wall comes from the ground blocking his next attack. Boom! the wall takes a hit. It didn't fall? He strikes it again, making it collapse. Damnit! It can take one hit at least! My hands raised to my face again. I'm prepared to take the chance against his axe. Whoosh. Miss after miss- the axe collides with my side, my left side begins to flame up. A liquid releases from my body and flows onto my shirt. "Ta's Wall!"
"A hit and another wall! It doesn't look good for Lare!"
The wall crumbles. "Not this time!" My cut leaves a stain on the floor as I dodge past Rayne. "No time to let me think?"
"Not now!" I need to get close enough to use my lightning! The matt releases a sound as my feet slam into it. Raynes confidence radiates onto me. How can he be so aggressive with that thing. Weaving to the sides and under his attacks to get closer, I finally get into attack range. It makes contact, my fist. Right on the side of his chin. My fist. It feels like my fist just shattered. Rayne takes steps back from the hit. Shocked. Another strike. One after the other. Each on his head. "Drawl's Bolt!" Time slows once more. "Finish him. Leave no ties." What? I feel my chest crack as my breath is ripped away. "What?" The axe slams into my head next. Blood flies out of my mouth. Another one? I'm left on the ground convulsing. "If you'd not have hesitated, you would have won! You know we can fix injuries we cause!" The announcer is lowered down to Rayne and whispers into his ear. The sound of the axe makes an incredible thud. "What?" Rayne speaks in a soft tone now. "What do you mean?" Time slows once more. "Lemur. You failed. How did you fail, my champion." This time, I can see the figure. It's shrouded in a black fitting. It hides the creatures features. It resembles the one who was in the hospital. "If I gave you one more chance, do you believe you could win?" Through the distortion, I can hear its raspy voice. "Would you show empathy to your partner once again? You need to drop it. He is not vital to you or your ambitions." I can't reply. My body is completely giving out. "Lamur, please, meet me once more."
Part 3
"There we have it! Rayne and Lare have each given their beliefs! Let's see if either are correct!"
What? was that just a dream? The announcer begins counting down. Rayne gives me a smile. Is he intending to....? He charges at me once the announcer reaches zero. He does. "Ta's Wall!" I'm not letting you leave a single mark. He slams once into the wall. It has improved! The second slam makes the wall collapse leaving a cloud of dust. "Drawl's Bolt!" It zips right into his shoulder. "Agh!" The injured arm droops down before he recovers with a new resolve. My feet slam on the mat as I rush him. Whoosh. He misses, over and over. Even if he can wield that thing, I'm faster. Finally getting into arm length I throw a punch directly into his face. A sharp edge cuts into my side. Gritting my teeth, I throw another punch. One, two, no, three more hits directly onto his head. Rayne relinquishes his axe. Not vital to my ambitions? What the hell could that even entail! "Drawl's...." I stare at the man beneath me. He lies bloody and forming bruises. I cannot, and will not show apathy to my friend. The announcer is lowered onto the ground as I step back.
"It seems...Lare has won."
The pain hits me now. Blood streams from my wound now. the cut burns. This is okay. I can manage with this. My legs give, leaving me on the ground as the crowd cheers for the last time.
