No news on his current condition. Due to me being the one to cause the injuries they've decided against me entering the room with him; leaving me stuck in the hotel. It's been two days since the fight happened. I didn't know I inflicted this much damage to him. Two days and still no word from my visitor either. What is going on? Nothing is being explained. Even after calling me its champion. Once the fight ended, I denied care for my wound beside disinfecting items.
A knock rings at my door, "Come in." The doorknob releases a click then opens. "I didn't think you'd win."
"Welcome back, Rayne." I can't tell him about what I saw. "I heard you didn't take help from the infirmary."
"I took it as my punishment. I made mistakes and I deserve to live with it." He walks with a cane now. A wooden cane that keeps him stiff. A bandage is wrapped around his right eye. "I see you've left with some...memorabilia."
"Thanks to you."
"You're welcome!"
"It wasn't a thanks." He chuckles. "What do you plan for us now, Lare?" I don't know, honestly. "We can look around town? This is a pretty big city." Rayne sits on the couch in front of me and places his cane beside him. "It'll be about 2 weeks before I can walk normally. You willing to protect me?" A smile flows across my face. "Of course. How could I not take care of the weak." We both laugh. A knock at the door slices into the laughter. "Who is it?" Rayne asks. "Let me in."
"Who is it?" He repeats. The voice says nothing. "Stay seated, Rayne. The cold doorknob sends a shock to my fingers. "Last chance," I begin, "Who are you?" No response, again. "It seems it's no--" Thousands of small pellets slam into my back. It feels like waking up after sleeping on your hand. Stinging needles.
Part 2
Days have gone by. Nothing. There have been zero sign of anything.
After even more time passed the lights awoke. The room is now decorated in bones and rotting bodies. Echoes of somebody's steps come knocking down the stairs. "Hello?"
"Hello, Lare." The room shifts into an open space and my shackles are removed. Bodies lay beside me. "You see it?" The visitor asks. "I do."
"Your future. This is how you are destined to end." Scanning the area I see fire flying across the sky, explosions appearing over the horizon, and dead bodies piling on top of one another. "What."
"You will cause this. The time has yet to be determined. This event is inevitable. No actions you take today will make this outcome different." I sit atop a hill that has a view of the entire field where the battle is happening. "Lemur!" A voice flies to my direction. "Lemur! I will kill you! You're MINE!" Who is yelling? "Your destiny has already been shaped for you. Lemur, please be my vessel." Vessel? "You're my pearl. Crafted by my own hands to be a husk."
"No. What? This is ridiculous." I jump to my feet. "To believe I would..."
"You will." Hellfire continues as I turn around. "I will not allow anyone to attend this horror."
"Is this what you decree?" Just before a giant arrow skewers me, the scene changes once more. It's Rayne. He stands above me. "You..." He doesn't finish. "What is this?" I ask.
"how have you not understood yet? This is your future." My eyes don't veer away from Rayne. "That is my decree." The room shifts back into the dungeon as it laughs. My hands are cuffed by chains once again. "Oh, my vessel. I do so wish to see you fight fate itself to avoid your actions. But, I do not have that luxury. When I see you again, I hope you're more understanding. Good night, Lemur."
My eye lids shoot open at the sight of my ceiling. I'm back in the chair. Was it a dream? Vessel? A moment of silence flows across before I decide to finally stand up. Maybe leaving home wasn't the best idea? Ugh. "Rayne's probably still asleep." The clock reads 4:23AM. only 4AM? Do I tell any of what's happened to Rayne? Yeah. I should. He saw the figure while I was in the hospital so It's only fair if he knows what is believed to be my future. A future that involves...
Rayne finally exits his room. "How long have you been up?"
"Too long." I reply. "What's up?"
"I had another visit from the figure." He puts water into the coffee machine. "Really?"
"Yeah. Except, It's been a dream both times. Just last night and during the fight." The machine beeps at the button presses. "The fight? What do you mean? What happened?" The black liquid dispenses from the machine into his cup. "Before it visited, I spaced out and imagined our fight. You had essentially killed me. I was convulsing and after you'd slammed my head, my body began to shut down. It then visited, calling me Its 'champion.'" Rayne takes a sip from his coffee and makes a face of revulsion. "I killed you in the dream?"
"Yes."
"then it visited after and we fought for real."
"The weird thing is, it felt real. I still feel the pain from the first 'encounter.'"
"What else did it say?"
"It said something about giving me a new chance and that I need to let you go and stop showing kindness."
"What was the one last night about?" The cup now resides on the table. "It showed me my supposed future. There were bodies, dead ones. Fires and fighting. She told me I was destined to cause it. You were there too, except you were yelling my name, calling for the death of me. She called me her vessel."
"Destined to become cause a war and I'm the one leading the charge against you. Pfft, destiny is nothing. Countless heroes fight destiny and win. I promise you that you won't be a vessel for this entity." I smile. "You're amazing, Rayne. I really do wish for you to be by my side till the end."
"It's what I plan. We've already gone through so much in the last month. I think It's finally affecting your mental." A sigh releases itself from my mouth. "You're probably right. I need a long break. No more fighting for now. Let's just practice our abilities."
"Speaking of abilities, your wall took more than one hit last fight."
"Oh! I was shocked too! I thought It'd crumble after taking a single hit from your giant axe!"
