Chapter 3 - A quarter of pain

This was until a screen had popped up in front of my eyes. 'Is this death's way of laughing at me?', I had asked myself.

[The heavens has seen your will, it has granted you a second chance. You have being blessed with the mark of an angel's halo]

The message had come too late and my body had already given up on me. Such a pity, did the angels finally notice my misery?

———-

A sudden pulse of energy coursed throughout my body abruptly. The sizzling sound of lightning had immediately hit my ear drum which was still recovering from the aftermath of the pulse of energy.

'What in the hell was that?', I had asked myself. With an aim to get a better view of things, I tried to open my eyes but they felt heavy as if stones had been placed on them.

The sizzling sound reverberated throughout the place once again. This time though I had tried my best to open my eyes but they were still as numb as before.

Bang!

Eyes widened out of shock when the pulse of energy had once again coursed through my body. "Please, I'm awake!", I pleaded. The energy had caused an unbearable pain to go through my whole body.

"Sorry, I thought you needed more since you weren't going to wake up anytime soon", the voice said but I could feel that there was some sort of giggles in between as the person spoke. Raising up my head, I had decided to give this person a handful of my mind.

"Do you think this is funny?", I asked with steam literally escaping from nose. It was as if I was baring some unknown fangs at the person. I was about to continue with my protest when my eyes had finally taken the whole face of the person into consideration.

It was a woman, one I had never seen before. My lower jaw hanged loose as my mind processed what I was about to do. All she did was to giggle with her hand covering her mouth. She was a middle-aged woman with blue eyes and long pointy ears. She wore a kimono which had the colors: Orange and yellow, eloquently mixed together.

I turned my head whiles trying my best to hide my face. Her giggles had gotten to me. She raised up her right had and the sizzling sound was made again as lightning covered her hand. The bolt of lightning moved up and down, from her fingers to her elbow. Each time a complete oscillation was made, a loud noise erupted which almost made my skin crawl.

I began to think about going back to bed but her words had totally pierced through that idea. "Do you want some more?", she asked with a devilish grin while moving her eyebrows up and down.

I surrendered with my arms uplifted as I swallowed hard on my saliva. 'What kind of place am I?', I asked. The sizzling sound had once again knocked me out of my trance. This was my first time seeing a person perform such a trick but I wasn't perplexed.

Was it because of what I have been through? Thinking about what I have been through, my hands began to tremble as everything I have been through begun to resurface back into my thick skull. An Image of my mother had popped into my head. A smile had quickly taken over my face but that smile was short lived. The image of that monster, the one who had taken my mother's lifeless body away had now chipped itself into my head.

Ba-thump

Ba-thump

My heart pounded in my chest as anger and regret settled into my body. "Amon, it said that its name was Amon", I mumbled under my breath. "Huh, what did you say?", she asked, her curiosity piqued. "Oh, it's nothing ", I simply tried to shrug everything off.

"You can't lie to me", she said with her demeanor slowly shifting from her playful self to that of a monster straight from the depths of hell. Why the sudden change though, I thought with my hands on my head.

"Tell me the truth", she commanded, this time though the sizzling sound had gotten much worse as the frequency of the oscillations increased rapidly. 'Was the lightning bolt reacting to her emotions?' I sat silently as I processed Whatever was happening in front of me. How can such a beautiful woman bear such a fearful side?

Bang!

Before I could open my mouth to speak though, her lightning strike had quickly landed in between my chest muscles. The strength behind this attack had lifted me into the air with my whole body trembling in fear. A tremendous amount of pain had surged through my body without it being prepared for such turn of events.

Gritting my teeth, I had tried my best to look strong since I was a hunter. The pain though seemed to increase with each passing moment.

'Fate is indeed a one-sided bitch!', I screamed in my head. My head continued to spin as my body convulsed uncontrollably. Surprisingly though, a rectangular screen had popped right in front of my eyes. 'Is this death's way of teasing me once again?', I chuckled while biting my lower lip and drawing out some blood.

[User has been striked with a chain damage attack]

My eyes widened as I stared narrowly through my blurred vision. Was that why the damage continued to increase even though I had already been struck with it long ago?

Soon a couple of screens flooded my vision. They all seemed to be warning me about something. Something which could happen if I didn't do anything about my situation.

[User's health will continue to deteriorate with each second spent within this chained damage attack]

[User has been injured critically]

[Health points are been emptied up]

[0 health points will result in the death of the user]

"Please stop this, I promise you that I'm not going to lie to you ever again!", I shouted out with all my might trying my best to make sure she heard my voice. My voice which although was fidgety but was trying its best to overcome the sizzling sound of the lightning bolt passing through my body. I hate to admit it but this woman was totally changing my view about females.

With my mother, she was the most kindhearted and loving woman I have ever known. She always made sure I had all that I needed even though she had none to offer. That was the kind of woman she was.

Why did such a beautiful person had to leave this world while horrible ones like this woman still remained— terrorizing our lives.

The pain continued to linger as her hand still remained in between my chest muscles. My body was at its limit and at any moment I could have just slipped back into death's hands again. 'No, that pain was unbearable. I don't want to be in that situation again!', I shouted with a cemented resolve.
