Tavian gasped for air, his fingers clawing at Valcroy's grip. Desperation flickered in his eyes as he struggled to make him let go, his thoughts racing. How had it been so easy for these two to infiltrate a building teeming with guards outside? Like there were tons of people outside, yet here they were, flaunting like this place was their home. It didn't make sense, and now he was trapped with no way out.
His frantic thoughts were interrupted by the creak of the door. For a moment, hope sparked in his chest as his eyes lit up, trying to look out from the cell to see who entered, but it was extinguished the instant Erik stepped into the room. Tavian's shoulders slumped, the weight of desperation pressing on him.
Erik's gaze flicked between Valcroy and Tavian, one eyebrow raised. 'I said bring him out, Val. Alive, preferably.' But he didn't say it out loud. He knew Valcroy, so he just waited to see what was going on.
