Chapter 12 - 12: The Lightning War Hammer

As Edgar looked at the holographic image projected by Thomas, his mind went numb from shock and disbelief.

His heart did not want to believe it. His mind wanted to reject or find falseness in the image. His entire being wanted to reject what he was seeing.

His beloved masters were dead?

How were they captured and killed?

Why were they being targeted by the cult?

Who had they offended?

What was the reason for all of this?

So many thoughts appeared in Edgar's mind as he stood rooted on the spot while looking at the grotesque image of his masters' dead bodies.

'The cult.' Edgar gazed at the grinning and chuckling Thomas, and he felt something in him snap at that moment, 'I'll destroy them all.'

Meanwhile, as Thomas was basking in the intense pleasure he was receiving from the emotional instability done to Edgar, he felt the wind becoming more turbulent.

His brows furrowed, and he looked at Edgar. When he did, his eyes widened, and his heart skipped several beats.

"What the fuck! You have a weapon from the otherworld!" Thomas cursed out loud as he watched Edgar take calm and measured steps toward him with a war hammer in his right hand.

Meanwhile, despite hearing Thomas' words, Edgar remained silent and just kept on walking toward Thomas.

With every step that Edgar took, the ground cracked and the winds became turbulent. Blue sparks appeared on the war hammer, and the clouds above darkened.

"You traitorous bastards. You bastards actually colluded with the otherworld. You Waynes actually deserved death." Thomas cursed, and then he stretched out his palms and his claws elongated.

"Don't think I'm going down easily."

Despite the brave words spoken by Thomas, he felt a tinge of anxiety as he observed the weapon in Edgar's hand.

From his observation, he realized that the weapon was at least a Sage level weapon of the Otherworld. With every step that brought Edgar closer to him, he could feel a familiar pressure engulf his surroundings.

'Gravitational Force.' Thomas gritted his teeth in frustration and anger.

Meanwhile, as Thomas wavered slightly, Edgar noticed this and then he moved.

He took a step, and in less than the blink of an eye, he vanished.

BANG!

BOOM!

Rubbles flew up into the air, and the shockwave produced by Edgar's acceleration destroyed the ground and uprooted the surrounding trees and grass in the garden.

Thomas' eyes widened when he saw Edgar coming at him at a speed his eyes could barely keep up with. He instinctively took a step back, and when he did, Edgar stopped before the barrier that separated him from his goal- smashing Thomas to a pulp.

He gripped the war hammer tightly and raised it to the sky, and in the next moment, blue lightning sparks appeared on the war hammer.

"Fall"

Edgar's emotionless voice reverberated in Thomas' ears, and he felt his skin tingle.

CLAP!

"What?" Thomas looked up in disbelief when he saw the clouds darken with bolts of lightning flashing in them.

"Impossible." Thomas' eyes widened.

RUMBLE

The instant Thomas spoke, the skies rumbled, and a lightning bolt fell. To Thomas' horror, the lightning bolt fell in their direction, or to be more specific, the war hammer in Edgar's hands.

Thomas instinctively shielded his eyes, and when he realized his blunder, he quickly looked back at Edgar. His life was in danger, he could sense it.

"What the?" Thomas' eyes widened in disbelief as he looked at Edgar who had lightning surrounding his nanosuit and war hammer, making him look like a lightning god.

"This is impossible!" Thomas shouted, "Only the otherworlders should have the power to control the elements! What have you done?! Who are you?!"

Thomas shouted with an expression filled with disbelief and panic as he looked at the rising energy of Edgar.

'Fuck I'm gonna die.' Thomas thought.

Despite the words spoken by Thomas, Edgar only responded with one word: "Break."

His arms moved, and if one were to look at Edgar's movement, one would realize that his movement was as slow as the attacking speed of an average human.

But boy, oh boy, was that wrong.

So very wrong.

Thomas knew it.

He knew that Edgar was not moving slowly at all but was moving at a speed that made it seem like time itself had slowed down.

His bestial instincts rang in his mind. He wanted to move, he wanted to protect himself, he wanted to live.

And this immense desire granted him the ability to move. Albeit, he could only move his arms. Though, that was enough for him.

He placed his arms in front of his head and lowered his head behind them. And a second after he did this,

KACHA!

KABOOM!

The barrier shattered to pieces and a massive shockwave exploded from the impact. Before the shockwave could even reach Thomas, the war hammer reached Thomas, and it collided with Thomas' arms.

CRACK!

BOOM!

The sound of bones breaking resounded before the massive shockwave that followed.

The ground broke apart, the trees were uprooted and flew away, rubbles flew haphazardly everywhere, and a bloody figure tumbled an uncountable number of times toward the mansion of the Waynes.

BANG!

The figure broke through the outer glass walls of the mansion, and it tumbled a few more times before slamming into the inner stone wall of the mansion.

The figure's body remained stuck in the stone wall for a few seconds, then it fell face flat to the floor with lightning sparks appearing around its body once in a while.

The figure twitched, and it tried to move its arms, but it failed miserably at that.

'My arms are broken.' Thomas thought with blood pouring out from his mouth and his nose, 'I also can't move any other part of my body. The lightning has paralyzed my entire body.'

'Also…' Thomas grimaced, and just as he did, he felt his body revert back to its human form. 'I don't even have the energy to maintain my devil beast form.'

As Thomas had these thoughts, he realized that he had severely underestimated the power of the Wayne butler and the power of the war hammer he held.

He knew he was going to be a dead man in a few minutes. It was either he died at the hands of the Wayne butler, or he died of suffocation.

His face was directly facing the ground, and with every moment that passed, blood continuously poured out from his nose, mouth, and eyes, making him breathe in his blood.

'What a pathetic way to die. I didn't even get to fight back.' Thomas wanted to chuckle, but he couldn't. He would just breathe in and swallow his blood.

Tap Tap Tap

He heard the sound of footsteps, and he released a soft sigh.

Just as he did, he felt a grip on his head, and he found himself face to face with the butler of the Waynes.

Cough Cough

He repeatedly coughed, staining the nano suit of the Wayne butler with his blood, and he managed a weak grin despite the bloodied, battered, swollen, and multicolored face he had.

"I'm immensely grateful for you giving me the chance to take my time and cough out all the blood in me."

Thomas mocked, and just as he did, his eyes caught sight of an object moving at an insane speed.

BAM!

An extremely fast and powerful metallic fist landed on his face causing his head to snap to the back, almost breaking his neck in the process.

Cough

He coughed out some broken teeth along with a lot of blood, but he still maintained his grin.

Edgar was about to launch another fist at Thomas, but Thomas' next words made him pause.

"By the way, before you kill me. Have you forgotten about your young master?"
