Chereads / Princess Lily / Chapter 19 - Lilian Capulet

Chapter 19 - Lilian Capulet

"Sister."

"..."

"Thank you."

Lily gazed quietly at the scene outside the window. Though, he was a child now, he was still the same man who would take everything from her in the future.

The carriage moved again as soon as Franz stepped down and silence ensued. Only the sound of the turning wheels and the walking horses could be heard admist the silence.

Mary, who had no idea why the first princess shunned her younger siblings could only pout her lips as she gazed inquisitively at Lily.

Lily also ignored the intense stare, she had no plan of striking a conversation. Simply sitting in the same carriage as Franz had drained her of all her energy.

"Your highness." Mary finally called out, breaking the silence, however Lily simply ignored the call as she closed her eyes and leaned against the window.

"Your highness?"

"..."

"Are you asleep?"

"..."

"You were awake a second ago..." Mary grumbled, her voice trailing off in a distance.

"I said I want the langsher land! How dare he!"

A maid quivered as the lamp thrown at her barely missed her face by a few inches. The room was an utter mess and the woman who stood in the middle of it was responsible for all the mess and broken items.

"How dare he give that little brat my land." The raging woman bit her finger. Her purple hair stuck to her sweaty face and her dark purple eyes with beautiful golden rims gleamed in anger.

"That little brat." She murmured under her breath as she racked her mind in search for a solution.

"Why do you need the langsher land, My lady?" A man whose figure was shrouded in the dark asked.

"Why?" The woman scoffed, "Because it's the only land that has a peerage, what could that witch possibly need it for?"

"It is a barren land, My lady."

"That's what you think, I can make life sprout in the most barren lands, I just need the title that comes alongside it."

"The princess, however, has no need for the title of baron." The man said, taking the words out of her mouth.

"Exactly, her mother made her do this. That second queen." She clenched her fist as she fumed heavily.

"Knowing fully well that you can not be crowned queen if you are not nobility, she must have done this on purpose." The man voiced out before his voice faded into the dark. The woman turned to his direction and even his shadow could no longer be seen. She then turned to the maid who now had her face to the floor, "Get me some tea and clean this place up."

Lily fell asleep from her get-away tactic and only woke up the next day right before sunrise. She picked up a shawl that was drapped on her couch and wrapped it around herself, before walking to the balcony. She then sat on the woven chair and watched the dark horizon pierced by a ray of light. The warm glow of sun slowly rose up.

"Good morning... Lorain." She muttered softly and sat still as she watched the sunrise.

In a few hours, Mary stomped into the room.

"My princess!" She yelled as soon as she saw the empty bed.

"Here." Lily waved her hand without moving from her seat.

"You're awake already, that's good."

"Why?"

"Because you have a guest." Mary picked her up and rushed into the bathroom, "Ah. Forgive me, Your highness. Good morning" She greeted as soon as she realized her mistake.

Lily chuckled as she wrapped her arms around Mary. Carrying her like this without her consent was even more punishable than forgetting to greet her, but Lily said nothing and simply watched Mary prepare her bath.

"Greetings, Your highness. It's a pleasure to be finally meeting you, the first princess."

Lily blinked in surprise - This all familiar face had a none familiar expression on it.

"Ah! Pardon me. I am Lilian Capulet, daughter of Count Capulet and sister of the current Countess Capulet."

"I see, it's a pleasure to finally meet you too, Lady Capulet."

It really was the lady of high society but her demeanour was something that Lily has never seen before.

"Please... have your seat."

"Thank you, Your highness."

Lily pressed her lips into a thin line, she had expected to see Lady Lilian in no less than a week, but seeing her right now was rather...

"I'm sorry, I couldn't handle my excitement when my niece informed me so I came as soon as the sun rose, however, I was informed that you were still resting."

"Hmm." Lily nodded, she didn't even get to have dinner yesternight and now, she wouldn't be having breakfast anytime soon, "Follow me." She stood up, leading Lady Lilian to the dining room.

"Mary, please get my breakfast ready." She said to Mary who was tailing right behind her.

"As you wish, Your highness." She bowed, disappearing from sight.

"Ah! No! I don't deserve to dine with your highness...at least, not like this." She murmured the last part underneath her breath.

"But you deserve to watch me eat." Lily tilted her head and the dumbstruck expression on Lady Lilian's face made her burst into a fit of laughter. She knew what Lilian meant by 'atleast, not like this' - Lilian was know as the creme de la creme of high society, hence she soaked in extravagancy, now, dressing like this with barely no make-up on and just a few jewels here and there would probably not be something nice to her, but Lily was fine with this. Her simple look made it much easier for Lily to converse with her, however, a little extravagancy wouldn't be too bad in the near future.

Mary arrived shortly with the food, she dished out a meal for the princess and moved to Lilian who declined.

"Did you believe my words, Lady Capulet? I was only jesting." Lily smiled.

"Your highness...but still-"

"Do you want to make me out for a princess who can not feed her guest?"

"What? Definitely not."

"Good, please have your meal then." The small smile on Lily's lips widened as she watched Mary dishing the meal.

She then turned to her own plate as soon as Lady Lilian was served.
