It was a picturesque sunrise in Coast City
"Wake up birthday boy", Jessie, Nate's younger sister mumbled softly as he barged into his brother's room.
"Huh, there's the brightest child in the house", Nate replied
She stared at him with an expensive look and smiled
What?!, it's been ages since you stepped into this room!, he added
"So it's now a crime to come into my brother's room?... anyways, it's your birthday you deserve more, she replied briskly
Nate paused and smirked
A while after, they both went down stairs into the living room. Their parents are ready to share blessings with Nate, congratulate him for his day and unwrap his presents. He opened the first gift box and saw a blue necklace and a blue vest with black and white stripes shaped like a "V" at the front of the vest. He knew it was from his mother but decided to pipe down and appreciate the gift. He opened the second and found a watch built to scan and detect inter dimensional anomalies and also has a built-in GPS tracker.
He turned to his father, sigh silently and left the scene
"What the hell is his problem?!", Harry asked
"What is wrong with you ?!", His wife exhorted angrily.
"Wha... I'm only trying to keep him safe!"
For God's sake Harry!, today is his birthday can you at least not be a d**k?!
It's my job to protect the good citizens of the city which includes my family, he responded
Hah...you what, I'm talking about this!.
After the commotion between him and his wife, Harry left his house for work.
Nate was on his bed looking furious about his father's action earlier while his mother walks in, she sat on the bed and place her hand on her son's right wrist.
"Nate, I know you're angry and I won't tell you not to be. I just wish I could change everything about him to be the perfect father that you've ever wanted but this...this just seem to be our fate
" You don't understand mom!, today is MY birthday, unlike all others I thought today would be a lot different but it's not and all you keep saying is that it's our fate!, why is that?!"
" That is because I believe, and my faith has made me understand the fact that fate doesn't make mistakes, we just have to live with what we are destined".
"Huh, well I don't have to live with it if it's going to be a torture " he replied and left the room. He then left the house and decided to take a quiet stroll than the street. Few meters away from his block and took a turn into the alley down the street. He sat on the floor near a trash can, thinking about his father's behavior and was immensely filled with rage. He sat for a while and then decided to leave the area as two huge men walked into the junction. They were both chatting about a heist they pulled off. They paused as they saw a teenage boy sitting alone in their spot
"Hey, who the hell are you?", one of them asked
"I'm just came here to have a quiet time" Nate replied
Quiet time huh, well, nobody crashes here except for us, let's show him why.
Nate decided to make a run for it as they tried to capture him. He ran as fast as he can but they both out ran him. One of them grabbed his arms and tied his wrist behind his back as the other squatted Infront of him, he stretched out his left arm and opened his palm. A dense white fume was gushing out of his palm at first but turned into ice after a while.
This was part of the GIFTS your so called 'SAVIOR' gave me. the man said. He shaped the ice into a sharp knife and threatened to kill Nate .
"If you kill me you'll die to I promise" Nate said
"Huh, your ghost is going to come for me or what? 😂.the man responded sarcastically
No, you won't get away with this, my father is the chief captain of the CCPD.
Listen kid, if your father really care about you, you won't be here. Don't worry I'll teach him about the consequences of being a bad father
He held the knife firmly and stretched out his arm to stab Nate in his chest. Just as the glacier knife hit his chest it broke in half. They were both frightened and had no other option than to beat him to death but as they reapproached, out of anger and frustration Nate's eyes turned grey and a blue shadowed flame was emitting from his body. The man re-created a longer glacier knife and tried to stab him again, as the knife got closer to Nate it melted. Nate fought back and injured them severely but decided not to kill them
A while after, the coast City police department (CCPD) arrived at the scene and found two harmed men and a young teenage boy lying helplessly in the alley
"Captain!"
"Yeah?"
"The boys awake"
The CCPD captain walked into the interrogation room to question Nate.
"So...tell me what happened" the captain said
"I want to talk to another officer" Nate responded
"Huh...suit yourself kid".
The captain we out of the room and instructed another officer.
After Nate narrated his story to the officer, the detective reported back to his captain and told him everything Nate said
"...and that's all sir...I just hope he's not hiding anything from us" the officer said
"Just let him go darek he's had a long day", the captain replied
"But sir...he was found at the scene!"
"Yes and he's also my son, so I'm demanding his release, immediately, he's just a kid for Christ sake".
"...UNDERSTOOD sir"
Shortly after his release he went to the city's general hospital to meet his uncle who is a medical attendant.
"So, I heard you were in custody earlier today" his uncle said
"Yeah... hey!, uncle hen, is it possible that I was affected by the nuclear wave?"
"Huh, I can't tell, but you were still a feotus back in 2007, I really can't tell unless we run some test". Henry replied
"Okay. But...if I was affected, I want this to be between the two of us". Nate said
"Okay, let's get to work then"
