Chapter 5 - Chapter 5

Fiona's POV

"Dylan..."

"Dylan!"

"Dylan!!", I yelled his name for the third time, and he finally halted to a reluctant stop, a frustrated sigh exiting his lips with his back still turned on me.

The wedding ceremony was over, but my misery was far from ending. The hurt was still very much fresh, like a slice on a tender part of my skin. My heart was still heavy. I could barely think straight.

Everyone was back to the palace, and had retired to their rooms. My face was to be in a pillow crying my eyes out right now, but I was too restless to cry.

I managed to catch up with Dylan in the hallway before he could retire to his room to be with "newly wedded wife."

"What do you want?", I heard him mumble with his back still turned to me.

"I don't deserve this", was the only thing I could bring myself to say without crying.

"I did nothing to deserve any of this. Why did you have to make me fall in love with you if you knew-"

"I didn't force you to be here, Fiona. I never opted for you. Why are you complaining?"

"I never asked to be here either, Dylan. My stepmother sold me to your family without giving me a chance to decide if I wanted to leave or not. You could've chosen not to look my way. But you made me fall for you. You made me think you were the man of my dreams, and that I was the girl you would die for. Why... Why did you have to make a fool of me-"

"Because you were stupid, Fiona!!", He thundered suddenly, turning to face me.

I took my eyes off the ground and stared at his. They were just as cold as his words.

"I did what I did because you're dumb as fuck!! Is it my fault you're fucking poor?! Is it my fault that you were merely a collateral to pay for the debts of your stepmom? How in your wildest dreams did you think we'd end up together? What kind of love story did you read that has a miserable pauper like you end up with a royal prince like me?!", As he yelled, veins popped out his neck, his eyes showing nothing but hate for me.

Words couldn't explain how I felt, so a single tear fell down my left eye.

"And now she's going to make me look like the bad guy", he scoffed angrily and rolled his eyes. "You're going to make me look like I ruined your life, meanwhile, I have no hand in your wretchedness", he spat without remorse.

"You... You're hurting me, Dylan", I choked on my words.

"I don't give a fuck. I just want you to know this...", He neared me and poked me on the chest. "I'm not to blame for your miserable life", he muttered.

I opened my mouth to speak when the door to his room got opened.

"Honey?", My eyes fell back to the ground, not bothering to look in the way of the approaching footsteps, as I knew it was my stepsister.

"I heard you yelling. Is everything alright?", Her voice held so much concern, I was almost fooled to think she was an angel.

"No, it's... It's nothing. It's not important", he took his eyes off me and I heard their lips touch shamelessly.

"It's our wedding night. I've been waiting for you to come in. Let's go have our night together", she led him away from me and into the room, leaving me to stand alone in the dim hallway.

I promised not to shed a tear over Dylan anymore, but hot fluid kept rolling down my face, without my permission.

At this point, I was beginning to accept my fate - I wasn't meant for anything good. I was destined by the Moon Goddess to be miserable till I die.

"Ma'am...", I heard a feminine voice call out from behind him. I slowly turned to meet the eyes of a palace maid.

She held out a piece of clothing out in her hands.

"What's this?", I questioned as I sniffed my snort in.

"It's a... The Luna ordered me to give this to you", she replied without answering my question.

I took it from her hands, and noticed it was the same material with what the maid had on. It didn't take me long for me to realize that it was a maid uniform.

"Good night", the maid muttered and walked away before I could ask her any questions.

I scoffed as a painful smile crawled up my face. I needed no explanations.

I was demoted from the prince's future bride to a common maid, in a space of twenty-four hours.

Dylan's POV

"What were you both talking about?", She dropped her act and turned to me with her hands on her waist once the door was shut behind me. "What did she say to you?"

"Nothing, Jemisha."

"Are you sure?", A hint of doubt in her voice as she questioned.

"We didn't talk about anything", I sighed tiredly.

What exactly did she want to hear?

"Well, if that's so...", She picked up the feminine aura and stared into my eyes, hers calling to me seductively, "... Why don't we make the best of this wedding night?", She cooed.

The room was dimly lit, but I could feel her fingers crawl up my skin. I felt them caress my chest as she unbuttoned my white shirt.

I felt hands travel from my upper body to my legs, and I could imagine the mischievous smile on her face as she squeezed the lump of flesh in between my legs.

Why...

Why was I not aroused by her teases?

Why did my body not react lustfully to her seduction?

Her fingers traveled up my skin again, and this time I felt my hairs stand... In irritation.

Was this my wolf repulsed by her?

This couldn't be. I hoped it wasn't what I was thinking.

Was this my wolf rejecting her?

I was so lost in my thoughts that I didn't feel her breath on my face until now.

She attempted to bring her lips to mine, but, for some reason, I retreated without thinking.

"C... Can we not do this tonight? I'm tired", I mutteredChapter 5
