Third Person POV
"I need this dish cooked as soon as possible, and I need it done in the best quality. I don't want any of you wasting my precious time. You! Get to chopping the onions right now. You! Make sure that meat is well cooked. The royal family deserves nothing but top notch. And you...", The short, round, middle-aged chief maid who had been shooting orders all over the large kitchen finally turned to Fiona.
The once loud, hollering woman was suddenly quiet upon turning newest maid's way, and it got the attention of some maids.
"You!!", She shrieked in anger and all the maids shuddered in fear, but most especially Fiona.
She turned immediately to see the glaring eyes of the chief maid which held shock.
"Fuck"
She needed no seer to tell her that she'd messed up in some way, but how exactly was what she didn't know.
"M... Ma'am?", Fiona stammered in a faint voice.
"Wh... What are you doing?", She questioned, as she slowly began prancing towards Fiona.
Fiona had her back on the kitchen counter already, so she had nowhere to run.
"I... I was asked to chop some vegetables-"
"And... Isn't this garlic I'm staring at in the mix?", She queried, her eyes traveling from Fiona's pale face to the chopped vegetables.
"Yes, ma. It... It was given to me as part of the vegetables to cut, ma", Fiona managed to answer.
"Linda!!", The chief maid yelled, and before she could make another attempt to yell, a younger maid furrowed out of the crowd of maids with her head bowed to the ground.
"Yes, ma?", She answered.
"Who's this thing?", She irritatingly threw a finger in the direction of Fiona.
"She's the new maid that was added to the roster two days ago ma", Linda answered.
"Was she not giving the culinary manual for royal maids before she began working in the kitchen?", The chief maid asked.
"I ensured that she got it ma'am", Linda replied, her eyes still on the ground.
Fiona's mind wandered to the big chronicle of instructions that was handed to her last night. That must be what they were referring to.
"So... ", The chief maid faced Fiona once more, "It's either you didn't bother to go through it, or you were sent here by our enemies to cause havoc, because you should know that the royal prince is violently allergic to garlic", she folded her arms.
"Shit!", Fiona's eyes widened in sheer shock.
"Ma'am, I swear, I... I didn't mean add garlic on purpose! It was given to me as part of the vegetables to chop, and I didn't see that particular rule in the manual. I swear I did not-"
"So just because the prince rejected you and went for a better taste, you decided to end his life? Is that it?"
Fiona didn't know how to answer that accusation. She was so stunned, her mind went blank. She could hear the maids murmuring behind her.
"Ma, I... That was never my intention. I promise-"
"There's no promising. You should know that you're not going to go unscathed if you ever hurt the prince, whether intentionally or otherwise. Now, through that rubbish away and begin chopping a new set of vegetables", she instructed.
Without uttering a single word, she bowed in compliance and obeyed her words. Soon, she resumed chopping fresh vegetables.
"And what are you all looking at? Will you go back to work-", the chief maid's word's were interrupted by the sound of the kitchen door opening.
"Long live the future Luna", the maid chorused in unison.
Fiona raised her head, and she saw the maids bowing at her sister, who walked in elegance.
"May you all excuse Fiona and I? There's something I need to speak to her about", she placed the order in form of a kind question.
"What are you all waiting for? Move!", The chief maid ordered the remaining, and the scurried out of the kitchen, leaving Fiona alone with her stepsister.
The kitchen was finally silent, but Fiona could still see her stepsister's eyes all over her body.
"Is it me or this uniform is way too big for your body frame? Have you gotten leaner than you were? Have they been starving you since the wedding?", To someone else, it would seem as though Jemisha was worried about her stepsister, but Fiona could feel sarcasm poking at her as she spoke.
"I'll tell them to sew something smaller for you. I can't have you looking like this. It'd ruin my reputation", she sighed and went over to pick some strawberries from the counter.
"What do you want, Jemisha?", Fiona finally spoke out.
"My husband has gone to work, and I'm bored, so I came to gossip with my stepsister.", she casually replied with a mouthful of berries. "What did I want to tell you...", She trailed, lost in thought.
Fiona knew this wasn't genuine one bit.
"Yes! I remember! Babe, you didn't tell me that the prince's cock was so huge!! We've been enjoying ourselves for the past two days. It's actually a miracle that I can walk. My husband is literally a beast in bad. He hammers like a slut - just the way I like it"
"What's my business with all this?", Fiona mumbled as she tried to put her focus on the vegetables she was chopping.
"I mean, he had his way with you the night before our wedding, so I would've appreciated a heads up", she shrugged.
Fiona didn't have it in herself to keep on cutting vegetables, she dropped the knife on the counter.
By the time she turned to face Jemisha, there was tears in her eyes.
"Normally, I would beg you to make this less miserable for me, but I know I'd be pouring water on a rock. I'm busy, and I don't have to this conversation. Please leave"
Jemisha looked surprised.
"Are you telling the future Luna to leave?", She pointed at herself as she questioned.
"You're delaying dinner. At least be considerate to the rest of the royal family", Fiona left the counter to the other side of the kitchen to get more vegetable.
All of a sudden, she heard a loud scream from Jemisha.
"What happened...", Her words trailed, and her eyes widened in shock as she saw blood dripping from Jemisha's palm, a bloodied knife in her left hand.Chapter 6
