It was just like Lin Chu said.
I stood amid rows and rows of people that gathered in a massive spiral around the place of the ritual. Everybody had its place, from the most high-ranked cultivator in the central coils of the spiral to the most lowly soldier on the outer edge.
The only ones not invited were the Ning family's Eternal Guardians, five of them. They—fittingly—stood guard and watched out for the enemy. The Union was also away, under the watch of several hungry spirits I summoned.
To my right stood Lin Chu, and to my left were Lin Wu and Lin Yuen. Qi Condensation cultivators of other clans, based on their importance. The Lin clan was neither the first of the clans, nor the last of them.
In the beginning of the gigantic spiral stood the Ning family cultivators, ending with Ning Tian and Grand Elder Ning Lau.
A circle of leveled and cleared ground ten meters wide served as the center of the spiral.
