"Stephanie, listen, I don't want to cause trouble for your family," Sydney began, her voice steady but firm.
"If you believe that I'm the cause of all this, I get it. I understand how you feel. But just remember, I have the same right to talk about your brother as you've talked about me. I won't, though. Instead of pointing fingers at me for his transformation, maybe you should ask him what happened. Let him explain why he's so miserable, and I'll do the same."
Sydney took a deep breath before adding, "But here's some advice for you: if you need to ask someone a question, don't stand in front of their car, or anyone else's. You never know where you'll end up. You don't know what mood the driver's in, and trust me, that could land you in the hospital."
With that, Sydney revved the engine and drove off, leaving the building behind.
As she cruised down the highway, she tried her best to suppress the emotions swirling inside her.
