"Enough," he interrupted her with a dismissive wave, stretching his neck and staring up at the sky.
A few raindrops splattered on his face as if the heavens themselves were responding to his mood.
"I just needed a break," he muttered, "I'm not at the bar. I'll be back before you know it." His words lingered, but his attention drifted elsewhere, lost in his own thoughts.
Before Stephanie could fire back, his phone buzzed sharply, cutting her off.
"So, should I chase after you or what?" Stephanie's voice rang out, playful yet impatient from the other side of the line.
"I wouldn't mind you coming back," he teased, his lips curling into a smirk. "But let's see how she reacts."
"Fine, fine. Just don't make it too long," she replied, her tone more demanding than before.
"Yes, Mummy, I heard," he shot back with a mocking chuckle.
