After an intense training session that could have easily been a reality TV show—complete with sweat, impressive displays of magic, and occasional grunts from Logan—the team assembled in Professor Xavier's office. The place was a mix of futuristic tech and cozy armchairs, with the ambiance shouting "serious discussions" while the furniture whispered "let's get comfortable."
Professor Xavier, ever the wise sage in his own high-tech version of Gandalf's robes, started the meeting. "Thanks for gathering. Today was a significant step in understanding Harry and Jean's new powers. Hank, why don't you kick things off?"
Hank McCoy, or Beast to those who preferred their super-geniuses with fur, adjusted his glasses with the kind of precision that would make a Swiss watch jealous. "Absolutely, Charles. We've seen some pretty amazing upgrades in Harry's abilities. His healing factor isn't just fast—it's like he has a built-in 'before it even hurts' feature. The Phoenix Force might be giving his resilience a major boost."
Harry, who was trying his best to appear nonchalant while internally processing the fact that his injuries were healing before he even felt them, nodded. "It was like my body knew it was about to get hurt and fixed it before I had a chance to complain."
Hank continued, "And as for his magical prowess? It's been supercharged. Harry's spells have more oomph, and his control is as precise as a laser-guided missile. It's almost like the Phoenix Force is tuning his magic to a finer frequency."
Storm, who exuded a calmness that could only be rivaled by a Zen master, added, "Jean, your grasp on the Phoenix Force is still developing, but today's results were promising. You managed to harness it without losing control, which is a big deal. We need to keep working on that balance."
Jean, looking both resolute and slightly flustered (thanks to Harry's near-constant presence), nodded. "I felt the power, but Harry helped me stay grounded. I need to learn to manage it on my own."
Logan, the grizzled veteran with a cigar permanently attached to his hand, leaned against the wall and grunted. "What about Harry's mental state? The Phoenix Force isn't just a body makeover; it can mess with your head, too. Any signs of that, Chuck?"
Professor Xavier, who always seemed to know more than he let on, met Harry's gaze. "I've been keeping an eye on Harry's mental health. No signs of instability yet, but we need to be vigilant. The Phoenix Force is a tricky thing—capable of both creation and destruction."
Harry, feeling a mix of resolve and mild anxiety, replied, "I've been feeling sharper, more focused. But I get that it's a tightrope walk. I'm committed to staying on the right side of it."
Jean looked at Harry with a blend of gratitude and something that made Harry's heart do a weird fluttery thing. "We're in this together. The Phoenix chose us for a reason, and we'll figure out how to use it right."
Hank's curiosity was practically bursting out of his fur. "Harry, have you noticed any new abilities since the Phoenix Force came into play?"
Harry thought for a second. "Aside from the healing and magic upgrades, I've had these weird moments of clarity, almost like glimpses of the future. They're brief but intense."
Professor Xavier's expression turned serious. "That fits with the Phoenix's abilities. Jean, have you experienced anything similar?"
Jean nodded. "Yes, fleeting glimpses of the future and a powerful sense of connection to everything around me. It's amazing, but also a bit scary."
Storm placed a reassuring hand on Jean's shoulder. "We'll help you navigate this, Jean. And Harry, we'll make sure the Phoenix Force becomes a strength, not a burden."
Logan, leaning back and puffing on his cigar, gave a nod. "You've got the whole team behind you. We'll tackle this together."
Xavier concluded with a determined nod. "We'll continue our sessions, deepening our understanding and control. Your bravery and resilience are impressive. Let's channel that into mastering these abilities."
As they were about to head out, Harry mentioned a weird issue. "My wand's been overheating lately," he said, trying not to sound too worried. "I've never had that happen before."
Jean's eyes lit up with curiosity. "That's intriguing. It might be a side effect of your new Phoenix connection. Maybe it's pushing your magic beyond what your wand can handle."
Storm nodded thoughtfully. "We'll keep an eye on it and consider other magical tools if necessary."
Harry appreciated their support. "Thanks, everyone. And Jean, if you need help adjusting to your new magical abilities, I'm here."
Jean smiled warmly. "Same here, Harry. Actually, I've noticed something too. Since the Phoenix Force awakened in me, I've been tapping into magic. It's strange but exciting."
Hank's eyes sparkled with scientific enthusiasm. "That's a fascinating development, Jean. We should explore how your magical abilities interact with your existing powers."
Jean nodded. "I've only tried a few simple spells so far, but they feel natural. It's like the Phoenix unlocked a part of me I didn't know was there."
Logan, leaning casually against the wall, added, "Just take it slow, Red. You've got a ton of power now, and learning to control it is key."
Jean gave a determined nod. "I will, Logan. With all of your help, I know I can manage it."
As they headed to the training room to plan their next steps, Harry caught Jean practicing a simple levitation charm on a book. Despite the seriousness of their situation, Harry felt a spark of hope. They were navigating uncharted territory, but with their combined determination and support, he was confident they could handle whatever came their way.
—
Harry and Jean found themselves once again in the fiery realm of their shared mindspace. The heat was relentless, making it feel like they were standing in the middle of a gigantic, cosmic BBQ. The Phoenix Force loomed above them, its fiery wings stretching wide and casting dramatic shadows that made everything look like a high-stakes, intergalactic performance.
The Phoenix's eyes glowed brightly, as if it were sporting a pair of celestial headlights. Its voice resonated like a cosmic drum, "You return, young ones. What wisdom do you seek from me today?"
Jean, trying to look casual despite the fiery setting, took a step forward. "So, um, I've been doing this magic thing lately. I'm usually all about telepathy and telekinesis, but now I'm casting spells like it's no big deal. What's up with that?"
The Phoenix's flames flickered in a way that almost seemed amused. "Jean Grey, the power I grant isn't just limited to your psychic abilities. I'm a cosmic entity, which means I handle all sorts of energy. When you embraced my essence, you unlocked hidden magical potential. It was always within you, just waiting for the right nudge."
Jean's eyes widened in a way that made Harry's heart skip a beat. "So, magic was always part of me? I just needed a cosmic kick in the pants?"
The Phoenix's wings fluttered dramatically. "Precisely. But remember, Jean, magic—like all forms of power—requires control and balance. Mastering it will be a journey, but you're more than capable."
Harry, holding his wand which felt like it was about to start smoking, stepped forward. "And what about me? My wand's been overheating since we connected. Is that supposed to happen?"
The Phoenix's gaze shifted to Harry with what might have been a cosmic eyebrow raise. "Harry Potter, your wand channels your magical energy. My influence has intensified your powers, and your wand, which was made for less intense magic, is struggling. This isn't unusual."
Harry looked at his wand, feeling a little self-conscious. "So, do I need a new wand, or can we fix this one?"
The Phoenix Force's flames danced in a way that could only be described as cosmic choreography. "You and Jean have a special connection to magic through me. While you don't need a wand to perform magic, they're useful for focusing and channeling your power. To manage the Phoenix's intensity, you'll need a wand that can handle it."
With a dramatic flourish, the Phoenix revealed two dazzling shards of dark pink gemstone. "These are fragments of the M'Kraan Crystal. They're incredibly strong and stable, making them perfect for crafting wands that can handle your enhanced magic."
Jean and Harry gazed at the crystals, their mutual awe momentarily overshadowing their awkward tension. Jean reached out, taking one of the crystals with a grin. "This is amazing. It'll make a huge difference."
Harry took the other crystal, his fingers brushing against Jean's just briefly enough to make his heart race. "Yeah, we'll make new wands. They should be able to handle our magic without turning into a pile of ash."
The Phoenix gave a nod that felt like a cosmic thumbs-up. "Remember, these crystals are part of the M'Kraan, a source of immense power. Treat them with respect, and they'll serve you well."
As the fiery landscape began to dissolve, Jean and Harry felt themselves being pulled back to the real world. They woke up in the medical wing of Xavier's Mansion, surrounded by the sterile white walls and the soft hum of medical equipment—a stark contrast to the apocalyptic setting they'd just left.
Harry blinked, trying to shake off the weirdness. "Well, that was... intense. Guess we've got some wand upgrades to look forward to."
Jean, still looking a bit dazed, managed a shy smile. "Yeah, and maybe we can, you know, work on our magic together. If you're up for it?"
Harry's cheeks turned a shade of red that matched his wand's glow. "Sure, that sounds great. I'd like that."
As they tried to settle back into the normal world, the lingering sense of awkwardness was mixed with excitement. With new wands and their shared magical journey ahead, Harry and Jean couldn't help but feel a bit closer. It wasn't just about mastering their powers—it was about discovering what they could do together.
—
When Harry and Jean finally came to, they were met with a sight that could only be described as "crowded, concerned, and kind of like a weird family reunion." Professor Xavier, Ororo, Logan, Hank, Sirius Black, Andromeda Tonks, Nymphadora Tonks, and Albus Dumbledore were all gathered around their beds, their faces a mix of relief and curiosity.
Sirius was first to speak, his grin as wide as ever. "Harry, Jean! You're up! I was starting to think you'd found a new hobby in sleeping through important stuff."
Professor Xavier nodded, his look combining concern with an air of someone who had probably seen too many awkward family dinners. "You both gave us quite a scare. Care to explain?"
Harry and Jean exchanged a glance, the kind that said, "We've been through some serious stuff, and now we're both trying not to blush in front of everyone." Harry spoke first, his voice still recovering from their otherworldly encounter. "We… we saw the Phoenix again."
Jean, who seemed to be clutching the M'Kraan Crystal like it was the last slice of pizza, nodded. "It gave us these." She held up the shard, which gleamed with an otherworldly light, drawing everyone's attention.
Dumbledore's eyes sparkled with that "I know a lot more than I'm letting on" glint. "Ah, M'Kraan Crystals. Remarkable artifacts. They possess immense power and should be handled with care."
The room went quiet as everyone tried to look impressed while clearly wondering what the heck a M'Kraan Crystal was.
"What are M'Kraan Crystals?" Sirius asked, his expression a mix of genuine curiosity and the kind of intensity that could be mistaken for a new prank idea.
Dumbledore stroked his beard, clearly enjoying the chance to play the sage. "These crystals are incredibly rare and connected to cosmic forces. They can amplify magical and psychic abilities."
Hank McCoy, always the brainy one despite his feral appearance, leaned in with a look of intrigue. "I haven't heard of these before. Any Earthly counterparts?"
Dumbledore shook his head, looking like he was about to drop some serious cosmic knowledge. "No, Hank. These are not of Earthly origin. They're linked to the Phoenix Force and believed to come from deep within the cosmos. Even the most learned scholars know very little about them."
Tonks, whose hair had decided to turn an appropriate shade of contemplative purple, peered at the shards. "So, these help with channeling powers? But what about your wands?"
Harry nodded, trying to sound like he totally understood the cosmic implications. "The Phoenix Force said we don't need wands for magic, but they help us learn and focus spells. These crystals can be used to make new wands that can handle our powers."
Jean chimed in, "The Phoenix wants us to have the right tools to control its energy."
Storm, the epitome of calm until she was not, raised an eyebrow. "But how do we make wands with these crystals? And where do we start?"
Dumbledore's smile was warm, the kind that made you feel like you were in good hands. "Creating a wand is a complex process. We'll need to consult with Garrick Ollivander. His expertise is unparalleled."
Xavier nodded, "I'll contact Mr. Ollivander. He will understand the urgency."
Logan, looking like he'd just stepped out of a bar fight and was in no mood for small talk, crossed his arms. "So, new wands. Then what? More training?"
"Exactly," Xavier confirmed. "We need to ensure Harry and Jean can control their powers effectively. It'll take time and patience."
Andromeda, looking at Harry and Jean with a motherly concern that spoke volumes, said, "We'll be here for you. Whatever you need, just ask."
Dumbledore's eyes twinkled as he addressed Jean. "Jean, I'd like to offer you a place at Hogwarts. If you pass the exams for the first two years, you're welcome to study magic here."
Jean's eyes widened, her excitement almost palpable. "Really? I can study at Hogwarts?"
Dumbledore nodded with a warm smile. "Indeed. With Harry and Susan's help, I'm sure you'll succeed."
Harry's grin was as bright as the M'Kraan Crystal itself. "We'll help you, Jean. You're going to be a brilliant witch."
Susan, standing beside them and trying not to make it obvious that her heart was doing a weird dance every time Harry looked her way, nodded eagerly. "Absolutely. We'll make sure you're prepared for those exams."
Jean's determination shone through her eyes. "Thank you. I'll work hard and do my best."
As the room buzzed with plans and promises, Susan couldn't help but feel a bit like a third wheel. Watching the obvious chemistry between Harry and Jean made her heart ache a little, but she was determined to be supportive. After all, she could see that they had something special—even if it left her on the sidelines.
—
In the quiet of the medical wing, you'd think it was a scene straight out of a very intense study group. Harry, Jean, and Susan were huddled together at a table piled high with textbooks and parchment, the atmosphere crackling with both excitement and a hint of awkwardness.
"So," Jean said, her voice buzzing with determination, "what's the game plan?"
Harry exchanged a look with Susan. It was the kind of look that said, "Is it just me, or is this moment full of awkward romantic tension?" Susan nodded slightly, a knowing grin on her face. Harry cleared his throat and tried to sound as nonchalant as possible. "Well, first things first. We'll cover all the basics you need for the exams. You'll be pulling off magic like Hermione Granger before you know it."
Susan, who was definitely feeling the crush but was determined to be supportive, added with a hint of enthusiasm, "Yep, Potions, Charms, Transfiguration, Herbology. You name it. We'll break it down, step by step."
Jean's smile was bright enough to light up the room, though it was clear she was trying to hide how thrilled she was to be here with Harry. "Sounds like a plan. Let's do this."
They plunged into their study session with the kind of focus that would make Hermione proud. The room buzzed with the quiet rustling of pages and scribbling quills. Jean was completely absorbed, her attention unwavering. Meanwhile, Harry kept sneaking glances at her, their eyes meeting in those awkward, lingering moments that seemed to say, "We're definitely dancing around something here."
Susan, who was sitting a bit too close to Harry for her own comfort, tried to keep her thoughts on the study material, but the electricity in the air was hard to ignore. Every time Harry and Jean looked at each other, it was like watching two magnets trying to figure out if they should stick together or stay apart.
Despite the undercurrent of romantic tension, there was something really great about being together like this. The sense of friendship and support was more than enough to keep the awkwardness at bay. Jean was diving into the magical world with a new kind of enthusiasm, thanks to Harry and Susan's help. She could almost see herself acing those exams and joining her friends at Hogwarts, ready to tackle whatever came next.
As they worked, the room was filled with a mix of concentrated study and an unspoken promise. They were all in this together, navigating the crazy blend of magical education and teenage crushes. It was a lot to handle, but with friends like these, Jean felt ready to face whatever came her way.
—
A week of magical cram sessions later, Jean was practically vibrating with excitement as she stood in the mansion's courtyard with Harry, Susan, Tonks, Ororo, and Sirius. The morning sun cast a golden hue over the group, making it look like they were about to embark on a grand adventure—or at least a really intense field trip.
Harry was at the center of the group, ready to show off his latest trick: Flame-Travel. Picture teleportation, but with extra flair. It involved engulfing oneself in a burst of flames and reappearing at your destination. Harry had been practicing this with Kurt's guidance, and while it was less about being cool and more about being efficient, it definitely had a certain dramatic flair.
"Alright, everyone," Harry said, trying to sound all serious and heroic, "Stick close and hold on. Flame-Travel can be a bit, well, fiery if you're not used to it. But don't worry, I've practiced enough that we'll land in one piece."
Tonks, who could never resist a chance to tease, grinned. "Oh, a bit of fire never hurt anyone. Unless you count my last attempt at cooking. Let's do this!"
Susan, who had developed a crush on Harry and was trying not to be too obvious about it, squeezed Jean's hand. "You've got this, Jean. Just stick with Harry and you'll be fine."
Jean, who was feeling the awkwardness of dancing around her crush on Harry, managed a nervous but determined smile. "I'm ready."
Sirius, always ready for some mischief and adventure, clapped Harry on the back with the kind of enthusiasm that suggested he was secretly thrilled about any excuse to be impulsive. "Lead the way, Harry! And don't worry about the 'serious' part of this mission. I'm sure we'll be fine!"
Harry took a deep breath, held out his hands, and everyone gathered around, forming a circle. They clasped hands, Harry's concentration evident as the phoenix fire began to build. Flames flickered around their feet, gradually enveloping them in a warm, bright glow.
"Here we go," Harry said, his voice steady. With a burst of flames that would have made any pyromaniac jealous, the world around them blurred and then vanished entirely.
In the blink of an eye, they were standing in the Hogwarts courtyard. The ancient castle loomed majestically before them, its towers piercing the cool Scottish sky. The chill air was a sharp contrast to the warmth of the flames they had just traveled through.
Harry, looking satisfied, turned to the group with a grin. "Welcome to Hogwarts."
Jean stared at the castle, her eyes wide with awe. "It's even more magnificent than I imagined."
Tonks, always one to mix humor with clumsiness, tripped slightly on her way out of the fire's aftermath but managed to stay upright. "Smooth landing, Harry. Really, that was impressive. Though I'll admit, I'm glad we didn't end up in the middle of a troll fight or something."
Sirius, grinning ear to ear, gave Harry a hearty slap on the back. "Not bad for a first try! And don't worry about being too 'serious'—I've got your back, kid."
Ororo, who maintained her regal composure, nodded approvingly. "Well done, Harry."
Susan, who was doing her best to keep her admiration for Harry under wraps, smiled at Jean. "See? Nothing to worry about."
As they made their way into the castle, the feeling of camaraderie and excitement was palpable. Harry had managed to navigate them through Flame-Travel with impressive skill, and despite the usual awkwardness and teenage crushes, everyone was ready for the next adventure.
—
As they approached the grand entrance of Hogwarts, Dumbledore awaited them, his eyes twinkling with that blend of amusement and pride that seemed to suggest he was in on some grand cosmic joke. The kind of joke that involved showing off how wise he was and how everyone else was, well, less so.
"Ah, Harry, Jean, and friends," Dumbledore said, his voice as smooth as a well-aged whiskey. "A fine arrival indeed. Welcome, Jean. I trust you're ready for your assessment?"
Jean, trying to hide her nerves behind a brave face, nodded. "Yes, Professor Dumbledore. I'm ready."
Dumbledore's smile widened. "Excellent. I have no doubt that you'll do wonderfully. You have a bright future ahead of you, my dear."
Harry, who was trying his hardest to keep up appearances and not reveal his true feelings about the headmaster, gave a polite nod. He was no longer on the "Dumbledore knows best" train but was playing the role of the ever-supportive student. Even though he'd long since deprogrammed from the Cult of Dumbledore, he knew how to keep up appearances.
Tonks, ever the clumsy troublemaker who hated her first name more than she hated stepping on her own shoelaces, gave a jovial "Wotcher!" as she tripped over her own feet for the umpteenth time. "Nice to see you, Professor! Just making sure the floor is still where it's supposed to be."
Ororo, standing with her usual regal composure, gave a nod that could only be described as "I'm calm, collected, and probably have a storm ready if needed." Her calm demeanor was a stark contrast to Tonks' exuberant clumsiness. She cast a brief but curious glance at Jean, then back to Harry, who was still awkwardly trying to not let his own crush on Jean slip through.
Sirius, standing slightly apart, gave Harry a mischievous grin. "Well, if it isn't our favorite headmaster. I see you're still as serious as ever." He couldn't resist making a joke about his name. "But seriously, Harry, I think you're in good hands. Just remember, if things get messy, I'm here to, uh, clean up."
Harry, trying to ignore the warmth creeping up his face as he thought about Jean, responded with a nod. "Thanks, Sirius."
Susan, who had developed her own secret crush on Harry and was doing her best to ignore the sparks between Harry and Jean, gave Jean a reassuring smile. "You're going to do great, Jean."
As Dumbledore led them into the castle, Harry glanced over at Jean, their eyes meeting briefly. The unspoken tension was thick enough to cut with a wand. Harry's thoughts were a jumbled mess of admiration and awkward teenage feelings, while Jean tried to focus on not blushing.
The grandeur of Hogwarts was even more impressive up close. The massive stone walls, the flickering torches, and the echoes of magic made it feel like they were stepping into another world. It was a place where every corner held secrets, and every spell carried history.
"Alright, let's get started," Dumbledore said, turning with that characteristic glint in his eye. "The path ahead is filled with challenges, but also with great opportunities for discovery and growth. Let's face it together."
As they moved deeper into the castle, ready to embark on this new chapter, it was clear that the road ahead would be filled with as much magic as it was with teenage drama and awkward crushes. But with friends like these, they were ready for whatever came next.
—
As Jean, Harry, Susan, Tonks, Ororo, and Sirius made their way through the sprawling, enchanted halls of Hogwarts, it felt like they were walking through the pages of a storybook. The walls were thick with history, and the air was practically crackling with magic.
Dumbledore led them into a grand, sunlit room where a row of professors awaited their arrival, looking like they'd just stepped out of a wizarding version of "The Voice." Jean's excitement was evident, but so were her nerves. This was her big moment, and she was determined to make a good impression.
Among the faculty was Severus Snape, whose expression could only be described as "unimpressed with a side of scowl." His greasy black hair and sallow complexion made him look like he'd been around since the dawn of magic. When he noticed Jean, his surprise was palpable. The resemblance between Jean and Lily Evans, Harry's mother, was so striking it was like seeing a ghost of the past.
Snape quickly masked his shock with his usual cold demeanor. "Miss Grey, I presume?" His voice was smooth but laced with an undercurrent of disdain, like he was forced to deal with something particularly troublesome.
Jean nodded, trying to stay cool under his intense scrutiny. "Yes, sir."
Dumbledore, ever the picture of calm, stepped in with his trademark twinkle. "Professors, this is Jean Grey. She will be undergoing an assessment of her magical skills. Please extend the same warmth and thoroughness to her as you would to any other candidate."
Professor McGonagall, who looked ready to pounce at a moment's notice, offered Jean a warm smile. "Miss Grey, it's a pleasure to meet you. We've heard quite a bit about your unique journey to Hogwarts."
Jean returned the smile, feeling her nerves ease slightly. "Thank you, Professor McGonagall. I'm excited to show you what I can do."
As introductions wrapped up, Snape's gaze shifted to Harry, who stood protectively close to Jean. "Potter," he said with all the warmth of a damp blanket, "it appears you have a talent for attracting chaos."
Harry met his stare without flinching. "Professor Snape. We're just here to support Jean."
Tonks, ever the enthusiastic disruptor, chirped in. "Jean's been working her socks off, Professors. You're in for a treat. And if I trip over anything, don't worry—it's just my signature move."
Professor Flitwick, who was standing on a stack of books to avoid being invisible, added in his high-pitched, excitable tone, "It's always thrilling to meet fresh talent. Let's see what you've got!"
Professor Sprout, looking like she'd been waiting for this moment for ages, nodded vigorously. "Welcome to Hogwarts, Miss Grey. We're thrilled to have you here."
Dumbledore gestured to a semicircle of chairs, his eyes twinkling like a mischievous star. "Shall we begin with the practical examination? Jean, if you're ready, please take your place in the center."
Jean stepped into the center, her nerves a tangle of excitement and apprehension. Since she didn't have her own wand yet, she was borrowing Harry's—a sleek, holly wand with a phoenix feather core. It felt a bit odd to be using Harry's wand, but she had to make do.
As the assessment began, Jean performed the initial spells with Harry's wand. Each spell was executed with a mix of precision and grace, and Harry, watching from the sidelines, couldn't help but feel a mix of pride and awkwardness. It was clear Jean had talent, and her ability to handle his wand with such finesse was impressive.
The examination moved from basic spells to more complex magical challenges. Jean's performance was nothing short of spectacular, and even Snape's scowl softened into an expression of grudging respect.
Then came the grand finale: the Patronus charm. With a confident wave of Harry's wand, Jean conjured a magnificent, blazing phoenix that lit up the room with a warm, golden glow. The professors were momentarily stunned, their mouths hanging open like they'd just seen a unicorn doing the cha-cha.
Dumbledore's eyes sparkled with approval. "Remarkable, Jean. Absolutely remarkable."
Professor McGonagall nodded, her admiration clear. "You've surpassed all our expectations, Miss Grey."
Even Snape, though still as hard to please as ever, gave a curt nod. "Impressive."
With the practical assessment complete, the professors huddled together for a quick pow-wow. When they returned, Dumbledore, with a smile that could light up the darkest room, said, "Jean, you've shown exceptional skill and promise. We would be honored to have you study here at Hogwarts. You'll need to pass the written exams, but given what we've seen today, I'm confident you'll succeed."
Jean's face lit up with joy, making it clear how much this meant to her. "Thank you, Professor Dumbledore. And thank you to everyone."
Harry, Susan, and the rest of the group shared in her happiness. Susan, who had developed a mild crush on Harry, tried to ignore the spark between him and Jean. Instead, she focused on being supportive, her feelings tucked away for now.
Sirius, with his usual mix of bravado and impulsiveness, gave Harry a knowing grin. "Well, if that wasn't the most serious assessment ever! But seriously, Harry, you've got yourself a real gem here."
Harry, caught between embarrassment and pride, glanced at Jean. Their Hogwarts journey was about to get a lot more interesting, with plenty of magical mayhem, teenage crushes, and probably more chaos than anyone could handle.
Dumbledore's final words were delivered with his customary sparkle. "Welcome to Hogwarts, Jean. Your adventure is just beginning, and we're all eager to see where it leads."
