Meng Ning arrived at the interview waiting area clutching her resume, only to be startled by the scene before her. The room was packed with people, each holding their resumes, all there for interviews. The competition was intense.
After finally finding a seat, Meng Ning was greeted by a friendly young woman next to her. "Are you here to interview for the jewelry designer position?"
Meng Ning smiled and nodded, "Yes."
The young woman continued, "I'm Ye Su. I just returned from studying in France this year. I'm really passionate about jewelry design and have won numerous awards. How about you?"
Hearing Ye Su's impressive credentials, Meng Ning felt a bit embarrassed and subconsciously covered her own resume, saying, "My name is Meng Ning."
Ye Su was very enthusiastic, "I heard they're only selecting three people this time. Do you feel confident?"
Meng Ning smiled faintly, "I was confident before coming here, but seeing so many people has weakened my confidence a bit."
Ye Su chuckled, "I've been asking around. There are so many talented people here today. It's really not easy to stand out. By the way, do you have a boyfriend? Are you married?"
Meng Ning was taken aback by such a personal question. "I'm married."
"That's good then." Ye Su seemed relieved. "With your looks, if you get selected, I'll have another competitor."
Meng Ning was puzzled. "..."
What kind of logic was this? They were here to apply for designer positions, not beauty contests.
Meng Ning asked, "Miss Ye, just to confirm, we're here to interview for the jewelry designer position at Shengyu Group, right?"
"Yes," Ye Su corrected her, "specifically, it's for a designer assistant."
Meng Ning felt reassured, "That's fine then. I thought I might have come to the wrong place."
Suddenly curious, Meng Ning asked, "With your impressive qualifications and awards, aren't you overqualified for a designer assistant position? Many big companies would be eager to hire you."
"I didn't apply for the designer assistant position per se; I applied for Shengyu Group's CEO," Ye Su replied frankly. "Get close to the water to catch the moonlight first. I'm starting in the design department, but one day, I'll make it to the top floor, to meet my idol."
Meng Ning added, "My husband mentioned that even if I get selected, I'll be working at a subsidiary, not in Shengyu Tower."
Upon hearing this, Ye Su's expression changed drastically, but she quickly adjusted, saying, "It's okay. As long as we're in the same company, there will always be opportunities."
With thousands of employees at Shengyu Group, the chances of designers from subsidiaries meeting the CEO were almost zero.
Meng Ning decided not to confront Ye Su further. Ye Su asked, "Meng Ning, how does your husband know so much? Is he with Shengyu Group?"
Aware of the industry's taboo against office romances and considering Fu Tingxiu's career prospects, Meng Ning denied, "No."
She had just met Ye Su and couldn't reveal too much. Meng Ning also suspected Ye Su might be fishing for information; after all, the workplace was like a battlefield, and it was wise to be cautious.
"I'll go to the restroom for a moment," Meng Ning found an excuse to leave.
"Sure, I'll save your seat," Ye Su replied.
In the restroom, Meng Ning thought about the upcoming interview and felt nervous. She ended up spending more time than usual in one of the stalls.
As she was about to leave, she suddenly heard the sound of high heels entering, followed by a woman's voice, "Why am I nervous? I've already sorted things out with the interviewer. I'm definitely getting selected. Nowadays, as long as you can get along with the money, who can't handle Shengyu Group? Once inside, I'll definitely capture the Shengyu CEO."
Meng Ning was shocked inside the stall. Could it be that even in a large company like Shengyu Group, there were people using connections to get ahead? With only three positions available, one was practically guaranteed now, leaving only two spots.
Meng Ning couldn't help but marvel at the immense charisma of Shengyu Group's CEO. These women weren't aiming for a designer position but rather for the position of the CEO's wife.
