Ken climbed to the top of the second-level building, and his eyes instantly locked onto Sam's familiar figure. He stood at the edge of the rooftop, exactly at the same spot, where Ken was expecting to find him. It was as if Sam had claimed this spot as his own, waiting patiently for Ken's visits.
"You arrived quite early, I think I might start to come early as well," Sam said, his voice dripping with sarcasm as he gazed out at the city skyline. His eyes lingered on the distant buildings, their lights illuminating the darkness. Ken only chuckled, knowing Sam's comment was a mix of jest and annoyance.
Sam's gaze remained fixed on the horizon, his thoughts drifting elsewhere. If only the first-level building was situated in this direction, he would have had an unobstructed view of the entire structure.
He would have seen who came and went, witnessed every conversation, and monitored every move.
