Chapter 38 - Chapter 38 : STANDOFF

At the main hall, Mia sat at the round table, staring blankly into space, not enjoying the ball-like party; she wasn't used to such events. She glanced around for any sign of Jonathan or Tyga, then sighed in disappointment when she didn't see them. She had been at the party for hours, and it was starting to feel like a funeral. She hadn't had a meal or drink due to Jonathan's warning, but as a waiter carrying drinks on a tray passed by, she muttered, "Fuck this," grabbing one, ignoring Jonathan's warning. Thankfully, it was a cocktail, as she didn't drink alcohol. She began sniffing it, just to be sure it wasn't spiked.

Just as she was about to drink it, Tyga appeared out of nowhere, grabbing the cup. "What are you doing?" Tyga asked.

"What does it look like I'm doing?" Mia replied sarcastically. "Having a drink, of course. Y'all brought me here to just sit like a damsel in distress. It's frustrating."

"Well, I'm sorry if you got bored for just five minutes," Tyga said, his tone playful. "I promise not to leave your side again."

As the dance floor was cleared, the lights dimmed slightly, and the orchestra began to play a beautiful waltz. The soft, melodic music filled the room, entrancing the guests. Mia's mood lifted, and she smiled, "Finally, some music. Even though it's not my kind of music, I'll go with the flow." She grabbed Tyga's hand, pulling him towards the dance floor.

"No, no, I don't think I can dance," Tyga protested, looking around nervously for any sign of Jonathan. But Mia was insistent, her masked eyes sparkling with mischief.

"Come on, it's just one dance," she said, her voice playful. "I won't let you embarrass yourself."

Tyga hesitated, but Mia's enthusiasm was contagious. She pulled him closer, and they found themselves swaying to the music. To Tyga's surprise, Mia was a natural, gliding across the floor with ease. He stumbled a bit at first, but Mia's guidance helped him find his rhythm.

As they danced, the room around them melted away, leaving only the music and the gentle rustle of dresses. Mia's smile grew wider, and Tyga found himself grinning back at her. For a moment, Mia felt like she was floating on air, her feet barely touching the floor. The music, the movement, and Tyga's warm hand on her waist blended together in perfect harmony. She felt carefree and alive.

But just as they were getting lost in the music, whispers and murmurs emerged, a gentle hum at first, growing louder and more venomous with each passing moment. The room's attention shifted, gazes snapping towards Mia like a magnet, their eyes laced with disdain and judgment.

"Was she not with Sir Blacksmith?" a nearby guest whispered, her voice dripping with malice.

"Why's she with another man?" another chimed in, their tone laced with disgust.

"That's cause she's a slut, a call girl, that's what she is," a third voice spat, the words hanging in the air like a challenge. "Why else would she hide her shameless face?"

Mia's mask, once a symbol of mystery and allure, now seemed to mock her, its concealment of her face fueling the rumors. Tyga's grip on her waist tightened, his eyes flashing with anger as he heard the last voice spoke.

As he turned to the direction of the voice, his eyes darted towards the edge of the dance floor, where Jonathan stood in his bloody stained shirt glaring deadly at his direction.

Tyga froze at that spot, still staring at Jonathan like he was a ghost. The music and laughter around him faded into the background as he stood there, his grip on Mia's waist tightening. But before he could say a word, the dance floor's rotation swept them apart, and Mia was pulled and tossed into the arms of another partner.

Tyga's gaze never left Jonathan, but his attention was diverted when he saw Mia with her new partner. His eyes narrowed as he took in the scene. Mia's new partner was smiling coldly but weirdly at her, his eyes gleaming with an unsettling intensity. Tyga's instincts screamed at him to intervene, as he begins pushing through the crowd to her direction calling out to her.

Mia, on the other hand, was trying to process the sudden change of events. She recognized her new partner immediately - the man who had an intense talk with Jonathan earlier, Fernandez. His smile sent shivers down her spine as he leaned in close.

"Do you want to know who Jonathan really is?" Fernandez whispered, his voice dripping with malice.

Mia's heart raced as she heard someone call her name. The music swirled around her, the lights blurring together as she tried to turn towards the voice. But Someone stepped on her velvet gown, and as she moved, the fabric tore, leaving a crazy cut that exposed her knee.

Fernandez's grip on her waist tightened, his eyes never leaving hers. "Let's take a walk, shall we?" he said, his voice dripping with malice. As she struggled to break free quietly.

As Fernandez's grip on her waist tightened, Mia struggled to break free, but he was too strong. He began to pull her away from the crowd, his eyes gleaming with a sinister intensity. Just as she thought she was trapped, Tyga burst into the scene, his eyes blazing with fury. He punched and pushed Fernandez, but the man didn't stumble. Instead, he retaliated with a vicious punch, his knuckle ring accessories glinting in the light as they connected with Tyga's jaw.

Mia gasped in horror as Tyga stumbled back, clutching his face. She tried to rush to his side, but Fernandez yanked her back, his fingers digging into her waist like a vice.

Jonathan, who had been watching the scene unfold, stepped forward, his eyes flashing with anger. He raised his gun and fired a warning shot into the air, the sound echoing through the music hall.

The room fell silent, with all eyes on the unfolding drama. Fernandez sneered at Jonathan, his grip on Mia never wavering.

"You think a little trick like that will stop me?" he taunted, his voice dripping with malice.

"Let her go," Jonathan said coldly, pulling the trigger and aiming at Fernandez.

"What are you scared of, Maurizio? Scared I'd expose a deadly secret about you?" Fernandez sneered.

"For the last time, Fernandez, let her go," Jonathan repeated, his expression unchanging as Fernandez's men pointed their guns at him.

But Jonathan's own men, larger and more intimidating, pointed their guns at Fernandez, creating a tense standoff.

Mia's heart raced as she realized she was caught in the middle of a deadly game. With a surge of adrenaline, she tried to wriggle free, but Fernandez's grip was unyielding.

"I don't care what people may think," Jonathan said coldly, his voice devoid of emotion as his bloody self made him look deadly., "but if you don't let her go, I swear you're dying tonight".
