Chapter 39 - Chapter 39 The Rotund Big Boss

"Go, go, go, I'm thirsty, get me some water!"

Han Luoli put down Gu Xiaoer, and seeing this girl's mood clear up from cloudy to sunny also made his own gloominess dissipate. His long legs carried him to fetch the water in just a few steps.

Gu Xiaoer nodded satisfactorily, this was the normal state of affairs in an employer-employee relationship, right?

But the next second, she could no longer smile.

"Come, I'll serve you personally..."

Gu Xiaoer: ...

In the morning, Gu Xiaoer was woken up by Ai Le's phone call.

"Gu Xiaoer, I'm reminding you again, hurry back to school and report to the principal's office!"

"Hmm..." A lazy response.

"You're at home, right! Get up quickly, or I'll come over and flip your bed!"

"!" As if stepping on a sore spot, Gu Xiaoer jolted up and rolled out of bed.

Meanwhile, the man on the bed lay there nonchalantly, his expression slightly innocent.

After hanging up the phone, Gu Xiaoer's face flushed with embarrassment.

"Had enough?" His morning hoarse voice was fatally attractive.

Gu Xiaoer scrambled up in a panic, throwing all the blankets over to Han Luoli and dashing into the bathroom with a loud shout.

The early morning antics refreshed Han Luoli. He made breakfast in the kitchen with dedication and, as he swept through the hallway, he saw Gu Xiaoer who had gotten up late and looked listless.

"What's wrong? You look so down."

"Ah, don't even mention it!" Gu Xiaoer sighed deeply, taking a seat at the dining table with fork and spoon already in hand, quite self-aware.

Women are a strange creature; when they say "I don't like," maybe they mean they do. When they say "don't even mention it," there's definitely a long rant following about the East family's long and the Li family's short.

However, President Han didn't know any of this. Bringing the breakfast out, he comforted her, "If you don't want to say, then don't, let's eat."

Gu Xiaoer cast a resentful glance at Han Luoli, her little mouth puffing up in a sulk, "Did you go complain to our principal? Don't bother denying it, I saw you at noon yesterday! If it weren't for seeing you, I wouldn't have gone to work at the design institute, and then I wouldn't have been caught skipping class!"

Thinking about it all just made her feel so miserable and sad.

"You think skipping class is justified? Are you that desperate for money?"

Gu Xiaoer put down her milk and retorted unhappily, "How could you understand the feeling of being in debt up to one's ears?"

Silence. His original intention wasn't this at all; he meant to tease her, scare her, and incidentally make her pay off her debt with physical labor, but he hadn't anticipated he would create such pressure for her.

Could he, Han Luoli, really be short of one hundred thousand yuan?

Han Luoli shrugged, neither denying nor affirming.

"Then tell me, why would you go to our school for no reason?"

"To work!"

"Oh." Gu Xiaoer kept eating, still jabbering away, "What job did you go for? Hospitality?"

It seemed that she had already made up her mind about Han Luoli's status, mentioning hospitality as if it was a matter of course.

The other side went silent, not intending to answer this unfruitful question.

"Oh, right, did you see a big boss there? It was him, he visited our school yesterday and because of him, the principal caught me skipping classes!" Gu Xiaoer didn't mind and continued to ask.

Han Luoli's forehead creased while a gloom seemed to hang over his head, "Blaming others?"

"Who else to blame but you? You have no idea. That rotund guy didn't call on anyone but me. It was as if he deliberately had it out for me! I've always been a diligent and thrifty student, if it weren't for him, the principal would've never caught me!" Her little face scrunched into a bun, grinding her teeth when she mentioned it.

Han Luoli frowned: "How do you just assume that man is rotund?"
