Two foodie tycoons hurried off to the Birch Forest Restaurant.
"Xiao Er, do you think my outfit is okay?"
"Lele, you sly fox! Did you actually dress up on purpose to flaunt it?" Gu Xiaoer said, displeased, as she looked at her own cheap clothes and then at Ai Le's deliberately dressed-up appearance, pouting.
Ai Le stretched out her hand and gave Gu Xiaoer a flick on the forehead: "Madam, you were born with natural beauty, how can I, a simple rustic, compare with you? I have to rely entirely on my clothes to make a presence."
Gu Xiaoer was tickled pink and couldn't help undermining herself: "Tell me, how should we talk so that we don't seem like first-timers here?"
Teasing each other, they arrived at the Birch Forest Restaurant.
They chose a spot by the window, and as soon as they sat down, a waiter very politely brought over the menu.
"This is really something else!" Ai Le whispered to Gu Xiaoer, "They all say the restaurants near the school have bad service because there are too many people and more demand than supply, so they're not worried about losing customers. But look at this place, the service is so warm and attentive!"
Gu Xiaoer agreed and quickly pushed the menu towards Ai Le, "Hurry up and look what you'd like to eat, go ahead and order with confidence!"
Ai Le picked up the menu and frowned, noting the high prices.
A simple stir-fried dish was over a hundred.
She glanced at the neighboring tables, with their pitifully small plates, realizing that ordering four dishes wouldn't be enough for the two of them.
"Xiao Er, maybe we should switch to another restaurant; I'm not really hungry today."
In truth, she was just looking for a way out. It wasn't that she had never been to a fancy restaurant; she just didn't want Gu Xiaoer to spend so much money.
Gu Xiaoer was not having it and pushed back, "Lele, it's fine, just order, I'm starving."
Unable to resist her, Ai Le reluctantly picked a few of the cheaper dishes.
The waiter had only taken a few steps with the menu when Ai Le called out again, "Excuse me, what's the wifi password here?"
Before the waiter could reply, a girl who had just walked in scoffed, "Wow, since when did Birch Forest Restaurant start letting just anybody in?"
The words were directed at the waiter, but she was looking at Gu Xiaoer and Ai Le.
They looked up to see Lin Kexin standing there with an arrogant face. Without Lu Tianze and other VIPs present, Lin Kexin's true colors were completely on display.
"Even asking for the wifi password, are you here to mooch off the internet or do you actually plan to eat? Just look at this place, can you afford it? Don't end up unable to pay the bill and get stuck here washing dishes!"
Ai Le, who had a hot temper and had never liked Lin Kexin, was now utterly unapologetic, "Not being able to afford it is our business, which is certainly better than some people who can't get a boyfriend unless they snatch one!"
"You, Ai Le!"
Lin Kexin glared at Ai Le fiercely, snatched the menu from the waiter's hand, and sneered coldly, "Gu Xiaoer, pretending to be a big spender here, just ordering these worthless dishes, you might as well go to the cafeteria! Waiter, charge this table's meal to my account."
Her words showed no attempt to hide the contempt and disdain she felt for Gu Xiaoer, proud as can be, her nose in the air, making Ai Le feel both angry and disgusted.
"Miss Lin, do you think everyone is like Lu Tianze, that money can buy them off? Keep your money to support your men!" Ai Le's words were venomous, and just a couple of sentences had already made Lin Kexin's nose go askew with anger.
"Ai Le, who do you think you are? Gu Xiaoer hasn't even spoken and you're butting in so much? Crazy!" Lin Kexin felt itching in her teeth, and seeing Ai Le defend Gu Xiaoer like this was particularly grating to her.
