In the span of a short time, Boss Li's forehead had begun to bead with sweat. For some reason, the man who had just appeared didn't seem to do much, yet he made him break out in a cold sweat, his steps becoming somewhat unsteady. No, no, that can't be right—it must be too hot in here.
Although he was angry that his bodyguard had been dismissed by Han Luoli like that, the businessman's shrewdness still prevailed, letting him hold his temper as he squinted his murky eyes to size up Han Luoli, "May I ask the gentleman's identity, could you introduce yourself?"
When he asked this, Gu Xiaoer wasn't worried—they had already rehearsed their lines.
Han Luoli began to speak, his voice as calm as millennium-old ice, "Who I am... you're not qualified to know." His glance swept past Boss Li without any emotion, as if nothing and no one could pique his interest.
Huh? Why isn't he following the script?
Boss Li, upon hearing this, was supposed to get angry but instead burst into laughter, his gaze turning scornful, "Got the guts to be so brazen, but not the guts to give your name. I think, you simply have no face to declare your family! Still wet behind the ears, yet trying to act the boss. Little Girl Gu, do you see? What's so great about this man? Isn't it better to follow me than him? Come here, and if you serve me well, I won't hold that slap against you."
Having said that, he even shook his corpulent body, his flabby flesh jiggling disgustingly all over the place.
Everyone present understood that Gu Xiaoer's choice at this moment was a fuse, and it also represented a man's face. Face could be a big or small matter, but at such an upper-class gathering like this dinner, no one could afford to lose face.
But Han Luoli seemed not to take any of Boss Li's words to heart, the smile that wasn't quite a smile never leaving his face. He casually glanced at Boss Li as if he was no more significant than an ant, not worthy of wasting even a moment of his energy.
His gaze remained on Gu Xiaoer all along, from her smooth forehead to her delicate nose tip followed by her jelly-like lips. Just when everybody thought he would ignore Boss Li, he casually asked, "Which hand touched you?"
He was asking Gu Xiaoer.
Gu Xiaoer was so shaken by Han Luoli's naturally commanding presence that when she came back to her senses, she stuttered, "I, I don't remember..."
Not seeing the anticipated submission from the pair, Boss Li also got angry, "Who the hell do you think you are, to dismiss me like that?! You're not asking around, who I, Boss Li, am. Kid, I'm telling you, don't get cocky with temporary ability, or you won't even know how you'll die!"
The outwardly tough Boss Li spoke these strong words. In his view, this man in his mid-twenties had never appeared in high society, so he didn't recognize him, and he certainly wouldn't take him seriously, thinking anyone can act tough and put on a show.
Gu Xiaoer was feeling conflicted, wanting to turn the situation around but also worried about making things worse. Han Luoli, after all, was just a salesman from a service company—how could he calm these rich and influential people? Her small hand tugged at the sleeve of Han Luoli's suit and she leaned in towards his ear with concern, "Han Luoli, this is enough..."
His large palm patted the restless hand, and Han Luoli seemed to find the action of whispering in the ear quite amusing, even bending down to murmur into Gu Xiaoer's ear with a hint of cool mint fragrance that was comforting, "Relax, trust your man!"
Gu Xiaoer's face turned red, and in her daze, she almost felt deluded that Han Luoli was her boyfriend, straight out of a romantic novel, the swaggering, cool, and domineering CEO.
Han Luoli lightly brushed her delicate little nose, his thin lips curved slightly, casually saying, "Since you can't remember clearly, let's assume it was both hands."
