Chapter 37 - Gearing up

Now, we each have a full set of enchanted clothing, meticulously crafted to provide both protection and utility. Except for the backpack, each piece is infused with at least five different enchantments, making our gear far superior to anything ordinary soldiers or adventurers might possess.

Sophia's and Yumi's set:

Shirt: Self-Cleaning, Thermal Regulation, Reinforced Fabric, Penetration Resistance, All Attribute Resistance.

Pants: Self-Cleaning, Reinforced Fabric, Anti-Fatigue, Minor Healing, Penetration Resistance.

Boots: Enhanced Agility, Self-Cleaning, Impact Resistance, Silent Movement, Minor Speed Boost.

Gloves: Grip Enhancement, Self-Repair, Shock Absorption, Minor Healing, Magic Enhancement.

Cloak: Self-Cleaning, Minor Spell Reflecting, Minor Shielding, Camouflage, Wind Resistance.

Backpack: Weight Reduction, Spatial Expansion.

My Set: Shirt, pants, boots and backpack are the same as Sophia's. However, my gloves have Enhanced Strength instead of Magic Enhancement for obvious reasons. Additionally, my cloak has a single conditional enchantment: Invisibility.

Upon command and up to twice a day, it can cast an Invisibility spell on me that will last for five seconds. It's an extremely advanced enchantment that consumes many points, but it can help me escape dangerous situations or infiltrate highly secured areas. Five seconds is not long, but for someone who can move fast like me, it's good enough.

As for weapons, Sophia now has a small wooden wand that can cast Lightning Bolt with a ten-second cooldown, along with two very sharp knives for self-defense.

For myself, I enchanted my own army knife from Earth:

- Penetration + 10

- Durable + 10

- Wind Cutter + 5

- Spell Enhancing + 10

Enchantment points: 1 (decreased by 162)

————————-

It's quite a surprise. The knife actually has a lot of points for enchantments. It's actually even exceeding the best knife I can find in the market. With the Weapon Rating of 656, it has become an Epic Tier weapon. In this world, weapons are categorized into six tiers based on their Rating.

Novice (0-200)

Adept (201-400)

Master (401-600)

Epic (601-1000)

Legendary (1001-5000)

Mythical (5000 +)

I deliberately avoided overloading the knife with Sharpness enchantments due to diminishing returns. Beyond a certain threshold, increasing Sharpness further barely enhances its cutting power and can actually weaken the blade, making it more prone to chipping or breaking. Instead, I allocated the remaining enchantment points toward something much more valuable—a special ability.

Windcutter level MAX.

It's a wind-type elemental infusion, giving the knife the ability to project a sharp gust of wind with each slash, with cutting power equal to 80% of the knife's cutting power. The big downside of using a knife is that it has a very limited range. But with this, I can extend the range of my attacks easily.

Thus, this beast of a knife can now easily be worth hundreds of thousands of crowns. Well, I'm not very surprised though, since this is the best knife that I could find on Earth.

But of course, it is not the only weapon I enchanted.

I enchanted some of my bullets too.

Piercing Bullets (x20): Enchanted to penetrate even the toughest armor.

Explosion Bullets (x20): Detonate upon impact, causing high-impact area damage.

Unenchanted Bullets (Remaining): Reserved for future enhancements, allowing me to adjust based on upcoming battles.

Unfortunately, platinum bullets—the most powerful rounds I have—cannot be enchanted. Their anti-magic properties make them immune to any form of enhancement.

When it comes to my lovely Deagles, I'm still uncertain about the best enchantment setups. Accuracy and weight reductions are common for bows, but my guns are already quite light, and with Sapphire's aid, further accuracy enhancements seem unnecessary.

An alternative would be to infuse bullets with kinetic energy or raw mana, effectively increasing their impact force. However, no one has ever attempted this before, meaning there's a real risk of damaging the guns when firing. Since there's no data on potential side effects, I'll need to run tests and experiment carefully before committing to any enchantments.

As we pack up, I turn to Sophia with a curious thought.

"With all this gear, do you think I could take on a Champion Rank fighter?" I ask.

She pauses, considering the question carefully. "It's hard to say," she admits. "If we're talking about a Champion Ranker without top-tier gear, then maybe. But from what I know, anyone who reaches that level is incredibly wealthy. Their equipment is going to be leagues beyond what we have right now."

"Ahh… makes sense."

Even with perfect enchantments, our gear is still crafted from mid-quality materials.

Weapons and armor that haven't been enchanted yet are called "Blanks." The higher the quality of the Blank, the better the final product. No matter how good an enchantment is, it can only elevate an item so far if the base material is subpar.

Right now, the best blanks I could find in the market are B-tier.

A-tier or higher blanks require custom orders and rare materials, which take time and connections to acquire.

The best blacksmiths and tailors are exclusively employed by noble families, meaning they don't work with just anyone.

That said, Sophia has connections in the black market. She confidently assures me that she can track down the right people to forge superior-quality gear. Given her history and expertise, I trust her judgment on this matter.

Now that we're fully geared up, it's time to make even more money!

There's an auction house within the Guild, where I'll be selling my latest epic creations. If things go as planned, this should net us a small fortune—enough to fund our next step forward.

I turn to Sophia with a smirk.

"Ready to go?"

She grins back. "Of course."
