Chereads / Angel Has Fallen Down (Haru) / Chapter 2 - 2. The Man & Mission

Chapter 2 - 2. The Man & Mission

Koorselian, known as the dimension where humans reside, serves as a mediator between demons and angels. Unlike Hell and Heaven, no one here is aware of magic; humans coexist peacefully.

Alice surveyed her surroundings with shimmering eyes. "So, this is the festival," she murmured.

"You've never seen a festival before?" Lucas asked, munching on a large cotton candy. His forehead furrowed in surprise as he observed Alice's sparkling eyes, though her expression remained composed, anyone could tell she was excited.

Alice glanced at Lucas, still wide-eyed. "I've never seen a festival at all!" she replied, her voice slightly rising.

Lucas glanced at her briefly, then sighed softly. "You should enjoy it," he said, taking Alice's hand and pulling her along to the festival.

"Suddenly, an old woman with a crystal ball in hand yelled, "The apocalypse has come!" Her loud voice, uttering the word 'apocalypse', instantly grabbed Alice's attention.

Upon seeing this, Alice's face was filled with curiosity. "What's that?" she asked Lucas.

Lucas glanced briefly at the old woman, then sighed softly. "Oh, that's a fortune-teller. Sometimes, they claim to see the future. It's all nonsense," Lucas replied flatly, then proceeded to devour the cotton candy still in his hand.

Alice suddenly walked away from Lucas towards the fortune-teller who was still shouting about the end of the world.

The fortune-teller noticed Alice's presence and smiled at her. "What's the matter, young miss?" she asked.

Alice stared at the fortune-teller with a serious expression. "Why would the world end?" she asked directly to the fortune-teller.

The fortune-teller seemed to start making predictions with the crystal ball in her hand. "About 500 years from now, the world will end!" she exclaimed loudly. "This world will meet its end because of the actions of an angel!" she added.

Alice furrowed her brow in confusion. "An angel?"

"This angel seems to be interested in demons. She will destroy the world!" she continued, her face very serious, as she continued to grope the crystal ball in her hand.

Suddenly, a hand grasped Alice's right hand and pulled her away. "Don't believe what she says, it's all nonsense just to make money!" Lucas stared sharply at the fortune-teller.

The fortune-teller fell silent, her eyes widening, her body freezing as she stared at Lucas's red eyes. "... you are a demon," she said, her eyes wide, staring at Lucas.

"A demon? How crude of you. From any perspective, I am human. How can you say that I am a demon?" Lucas sighed at the fortune-teller, his face showing annoyance towards the frozen fortune-teller.

The fortune-teller fell silent again, reaching for Alice's shoulder. "Young miss, you should be careful," she warned.

Suddenly, Lucas grabbed Alice's hand and walked away from the fortune-teller. "Don't believe what she says!" he said angrily.

Alice looked suspiciously at him, then released Lucas's grip from her wrist. "Why did you say that?" Alice asked Lucas.

Lucas stopped, turned around, "She's a fake fortune-teller. It's impossible for humans to see the future," he defended.

Alice fell silent for a moment, "Why did she call you a demon?"

"Do you believe I'm a demon?" Lucas asked Alice, who was curious. Alice stared at him closely then sighed.

"Well, you're certainly no ordinary human," Alice said, then she walked back towards the bazaar.

Meanwhile, the fortune-teller sighed in relief, stood up from her chair, then looked at Alice and Lucas for a moment, "A demon and a sacred angel, huh?" she murmured as she suddenly disappeared with her belongings.

Blue eyes fixed on a beautiful sparkling ornament in front of her. "This hairpin..."

Lucas reached for the hairpin and placed it in Alice's hair. "It looks good on you," Lucas said, smiling at her.

Alice furrowed her brow, she removed the hairpin and placed it back. "I'm not interested in these mundane things," she said flatly, but her eyes still lingered on the hairpin.

Lucas looked at Alice flatly. "Suit yourself," he said, sighing.

"But maybe I'll take it," Alice suddenly said. "It will be a reminder that I once experienced the festival," she said, taking the hairpin back in her hand.

Lucas looked at Alice, then smiled. "Quick, buy it, we have to go see the parade."

The shop owner continued to stare at Lucas and Alice, then smiled. "Such a sweet couple," she said.

"Huh?" Alice suddenly furrowed her brow. "What do you mean?"

"It's a rare sight, a beautiful young woman and a handsome young man. Your children will surely be very beautiful one day," she said with a broad smile as she accepted money from Alice, "Let me tell you this, miss, I always tell people they're beautiful, but you are the most beautiful woman I've ever seen in my life!"

Alice's eyes widened in surprise, her cheeks blushing. It was the first time she had been praised for her appearance. "Th-thank you," she stuttered.

Lucas grinned, "Doesn't she look like an angel?" he asked the hairpin seller.

"Of course! If you say you're an angel, I'll believe you right now!" said the seller, smiling and praising Alice excessively.

Alice smiled awkwardly, "Thank you, ma'am," she said, then walked away while pulling Lucas's hand.

"Why did you say that?!" Alice asked in an annoyed tone, still walking away from the shop.

"Well, even if you say you're an angel, people here won't believe you, because they don't really believe in it," Lucas said, grinning smugly as he saw Alice's still blushing face.

Alice looked at Lucas incredulously, 'What a crazy man,' she thought.

Suddenly, a loud drum sound signaled that the parade had begun, bright lights could be seen not far from where they were, even fireworks had lit up the dark sky.

Lucas smiled, taking Alice's hand, "The parade has started!" he said and pulled Alice away to see the parade in the middle of the festival.

Heavania, Heaven

The golden gates of the throne room swung wide open, a red-haired girl in a white silk uniform walked towards the throne. She then knelt and bowed her head to the woman sitting on the throne. "My lord, may I know where the Sacred Angel Alice is?" she asked directly.

The Lord glanced briefly at the girl. "I ordered her to go and conquer Findlia," she replied.

The girl gritted her teeth, staring straight at the Lord sitting on the throne, "Didn't I forbid you not to let her go there, my Lord?" she said with a heavy voice.

The Lord's eyes sharpened at the girl. "Mary Res'Lumiere, know your place!" the Lord warned with an intimidating tone to Mary - the red-haired girl.

Mary bowed her head again, "I apologize for my recklessness, but..."

Suddenly, the golden gates opened again, a armored man approached the Lord, he knelt before her, "Report! The Black Butterfly has arrived, my Lord!"

The Lord sneered upon hearing it, "Why... what's a Taurinz doing here?"

Mary lifted her head, her red eyes staring directly at the Lord, "If a Taurinz comes, it means a great disaster is coming," Mary explained.

The Lord fell silent for a moment, "Taurinz... what's his name?" she asked the armored man in front of her.

"Report, my Lord! The Taurinz is known as Shie!" he replied loudly.

Mary widened her eyes, if the Taurinz named Shie came, it meant a great disaster was coming to this world.

Alice looked up at the sky, then turned her face to Lucas, "It's time for me to go," she said, then stood up from her seat.

Lucas smiled bitterly, "It's late at night, perhaps it's time indeed," he said.

Alice sighed, "Thank you for your time, thanks to you, I was able to experience joy even if only for a moment," she said, bowing her body to Lucas.

"Ah no, it's just to repay my kindness to you!" Lucas said, then he fell silent for a moment, not long, he took Alice's hand then kissed it gently, "Until we meet again, Sacred Angel, Alice," he said with a grin, then released his grip and walked away.

Alice's face turned red, "W-we won't meet again!" she said slightly raising her voice.

When Lucas's back had moved away, the wind blew fiercely, Alice looked back at the sky, her feeling suddenly not good, she lightly touched her chest, "A bad sign..." she murmured, "I have to go back."

Heavania, Heaven

Mary stared fiercely at the gates of heaven, "Should I open this gate? But I don't have permission..." for your information, the gate of heaven is the gate used by the holy creatures of heaven to go to the human world or the underworld. When Mary was about to open the gate, suddenly the gate opened by itself, Mary looked in surprise at Alice who was suddenly in front of her.

"Why are you back?" Mary asked suspiciously.

Alice stopped for a moment and looked confusedly at Mary, "Mary? Why are you here?" Alice asked, as far as she knew, the person in front of the gate of heaven would go on a mission, Mary had no mission, why was she here?

Mary sneered, "Did you kill the demon king?" Mary asked with curiosity.

Alice fell silent, then grinned at her, "Why should I tell you?" She then walked away leaving Mary standing still.

"Come on! I'm your friend! I'm Mary, I have to know!" Mary said in frustration to Alice who was walking away while waving her hand towards Mary, "I've already told you not to go," she said again in frustration, "It's good if you come back!"

Alice continued to walk along the corridor of the building, her feeling still uneasy, what's wrong with her?

"Are you back?" a cold voice greeted Alice in front of her, a woman in white clothes smiled cynically at Alice.

Alice stared intently at the woman, "Maria, hm?"

"Long time no see, Alice, Sacred Angel," she said with a smile, the woman with silver hair grinned.

"What are you doing here?" Alice's eyes looked suspiciously at Maria.

Maria sighed, "Don't look at me like that, I heard that Taurinz is coming, so I came back."

Alice's eyes widened, she looked sharply at Maria, "Is Taurinz's visit related to my mission?" Alice said, "If so, I will immediately kill the demon king," she continued then walked back towards the gate of heaven.

The woman fell silent as she watched Alice walk away from her, "Yes, we'll see," she said as she hummed.

Findlia, Hell

Alice once again returned to the starting point, she looked around and sighed, "Finally, I'm back," she sighed, she didn't expect to meet Taurinz, if indeed Taurinz's arrival in heaven was a harbinger of disaster, it must be related to her mission to kill the Demon King, "I have to finish it as soon as possible," she said coldly, "and why did I land in such a sad place," she said while sighing, she looked around, people were in chaos here because their energy was sucked up by demons, this chaotic place had no sacred power, the power of God could not reach this place because the Demon King was here.

Alice stood tall as she looked around her, she reached out her hand, then a sword with a silver handle was in her hand, Alice then plunged the sword into the ground, "Amen!" Suddenly, light emanated from the ground, making everyone look at Alice.

"An angel!" one person exclaimed joyfully.

"Finally, an angel has come to save us!" people shouted happily, they smiled and laughed as they saw Alice with the sword emitting a dazzling light.

The sad energy began to disappear and turn into light, but the happy signs had to end when a large black energy wave emerged from the ground and exploded, making Alice have to pull out the sword and step back for a moment.

People began to retreat and run, running for their lives when they saw a large wave of black energy surging from the ground.

Alice sighed, "Datsva" suddenly a large golden shield appeared, protecting Alice from the black energy, "An amazing reception, Demon King," she said calmly as she looked at the black shadow in front of her.

"As expected from the Sacred Angel, with such holy power even demon nobles wouldn't dare to approach," a deep voice sounded.

As Alice removed the golden shield she was holding, she could see a man with red eyes and black hair, as Alice looked at the man she grinned, she looked at the man in front of her with a disdainful look, "Finally, today has come, Luke Fier'diese, your life ends here," she said with a wide smile, a suit of armor suddenly appeared on her body, "come and die, Demon King."
