Ariana’s POV
Damon’s breathing was strangled.
A side of his face kissed the soil that soaked his blood and his fingers stained with his blood moved as he kept trying to gasp for air.
He couldn’t speak.
He wasn’t getting up.
I didn’t want to look anymore. “Stop.”
“The sword’s prophecy…complete it.”
Tears fell down my eyes without caution.
“What? How? I can’t touch—"
“I’m the one you need.” A gasp left my lips, “The sword was created to…end me.”
I staggered backwards.
That…couldn’t be right.
Why would the divine sword be created to kill Damon?
On seeing the confusion on my face, he spoke, “Our contract. I die—he dies with me.” My hands trembled, “End this, Ariana.”
He was right, I couldn’t touch Klaus and his biggest weakness was a bond that joined him and Damon together by death.
It was the sensible thing but—
My body couldn’t move.
Suddenly the weight of the sword became too obvious, it was all I could feel.
