Chapter 18 - The Invasion: Part 2

Harry tightened his grip on the sword he had summoned, ready for round two with Angus. The battlefield around them seemed to fade away as the two warriors focused solely on each other. They clashed again, the sounds of their battle echoing across the battlefield, drawing the attention of both allies and enemies.

"You can't win, human," Angus snarled, his eyes burning with intensity. "This world is destined to fall under our dominion."

Harry parried a blow, his muscles straining. "We'll see about that. We're not giving up without a fight."

Their swords clashed, sparks flying with each strike. Angus's blows were powerful, but Harry's determination kept him standing. They exchanged fierce dialogue, each trying to undermine the other's resolve.

"You don't understand the power we possess," Angus taunted. "Your resistance is futile."

Harry deflected another attack, his eyes narrowing. "Maybe, but I won't let you destroy our world. We'll find a way to stop you."

Angus smirked a hint of malicious glee in his eyes. "The only way to close these portals is to destroy something you'll never reach. It's behind the main portal in the sky."

Harry's eyes widened as he processed this information. "An energy source? A core perhaps"—if he could reach it and destroy it, he might be able to close the portals once and for all. But first, he had to survive this battle.

The fight dragged on, both combatants showing signs of exhaustion. Angus started to falter, feeling the strain of the prolonged battle. Sensing an opportunity, Harry leaped forward with all his remaining strength, slashing Angus across the chest. The supreme commander of the United Monsters Alliance fell to the ground, his expression a mix of shock and rage.

Harry didn't hesitate. He swiftly turned his attention to the dragon Angus had been riding. With a powerful strike, he brought the beast down, its massive form collapsing beside its master.

Breathing heavily, Harry looked around. He was far from the main battlefield, isolated and without backup. He knew what he had to do to close the portals, but first, he needed a way to reach the sky. He remembered the skill he had acquired from Robert: "Necromancer's Command."

Harry knelt beside Angus's fallen body, using Essence Drain to absorb his stats. He felt a surge of power as Angus's essence flowed into him, enhancing his strength and abilities.

"Necromancer's Command," Harry intoned, focusing his will on the fallen dragon and the undead around him. The dragon's eyes glowed with an eerie light as it rose, now an undead minion under Harry's control. He felt a dark thrill as the other undead creatures also responded to his command.

Harry quickly contacted Susan and Marcus through the call option in their window. "I've got a plan. Angus hinted that the only way to close the portals was to destroy the mother core behind the main portal. I'm going to fly up to try and reach it. You need to handle the fight at the frontlines."

"How are you supposed to fly up?" Susan replied, confusion evident in her voice.

"It's a long story. I'll explain once I come back," Harry said. "You guys just hold the line and be safe."

"Be careful, Harry," Susan said, trying to act calm. "We'll hold the line here."

Marcus added, "Give them hell, Harry. We'll keep things under control down here."

Harry then contacted the headquarters, relaying the information and his plan. "This is Harry. I've discovered the way to close the portals. I'm going to destroy the mother core behind the main portal in the sky. I'll need everyone to hold the line while I do this."

The response was immediate and supportive. "Good luck, Harry. We're counting on you."

Mounting the undead dragon, Harry commanded the other undead monsters to aid the players on the frontlines. As the dragon's wings beat powerfully, lifting him into the air, he felt a mix of determination and fear. The sky loomed above him, the portal still pulsating with ominous energy.

The battlefield grew smaller below him, a chaotic swirl of combat and courage. His friends and allies fought bravely, their strength bolstered by the knowledge that there was a chance to end this nightmare. Harry's mind focused on the task ahead—reaching the mother core and destroying it.

As he neared the portal, the air crackled with energy. The mother core was visible now, a pulsating mass of dark energy at the heart of the rift. Harry steeled himself, his heart pounding. This was it—the final battle that would determine the fate of his world.

"Here goes nothing," he muttered, urging the undead dragon forward. The fight for humanity's survival was about to reach its climax.
