Chereads / Rise of the 9-Tailed Rainbow Fox / Chapter 21 - 21. Time Flies

Chapter 21 - 21. Time Flies

In what seemed like an instant, 3 years passed by. Today was Sarahs' birthday but currently, her and Zion were out in the nearby forested area of the house, training together.

Abraham would release captured beasts into the trees and let the pair hunt them in safety as he watched over them.

Sarah had grown, she kept her hair in a braid, her emerald green eyes were sharp, ready to pick up the smallest changes around her, and she held a broadsword in her hand tightly, looking around her.

She was wearing long brown pants with a white shirt and black boots. Although she was only 7, due to the constant training for 3 years her body was slim but firm enough to show the strength in her body and she no longer had any of that cute kid chubbyness in her face.

'"To the left, 10 meters away, on the lowest branch. Will leap in 3 seconds."' A surprisingly soft, but deep masculine voice spoke in her head.

She instantly turned to face the left and raised her sword just as a small cat-like beast leapt at her without a sound. She slashed down with the sword while moving to avoid its attack and the cat roared in pain as it fell to the ground.

She had slashed it straight across its chest but hadn't killed it. She walked over and stabbed it in through the eye, killing it instantly.

[[Sarah has killed a Prowler Forest Cat (D), 15 EXP obtained.]]

Zion jumped down from the nearby trees as he watched Sarah pull the sword out. He had grown in size, before he was about the size of a lynx cat and his tail on its own was now the length of an adult woman's arm.

The light shining through the trees fell on his white fur, making the rainbow shimmering appear as he walked to Sarah.

When they had first begun to train with real beasts, she struggled to kill the beasts. She would cry and afterwards she would occasionally throw up.

Often in the beginning, Zion would have to make the killing blow before the beast recovered and attacked her, but now she could kill a beast without blinking.

He glanced at his status as he waited for her to finish dealing with the beasts corpse.

'The system is harsh but true. She does have defending issues.' He looked up hearing Sarah walk over, "Zion, what did you think? I got another one!" She smiled happily.

Due to the training Sarah had adopted a bit of a strict appearance like her father, however also like her father, she's very kind as long as you are kind first. But do something wrong to her or someone she cares about and she'll be the first to punch you.

Zion just gave a nod towards her, '"Yes you did good. Now time to head back, training's over for the day."' He smiled at her and started to walk towards the house with Sarah following.

They walked into the house together and Sarah frowned softly, noticing the lights were out and it was unnaturally quiet.

Sarah placed her hand on the hilt of her small broadsword as she walked in, "Zion do you smell anything?" She asked but after a second there was no reply.

She instantly turned around and saw no sign of him so she pulled out her sword, on guard when suddenly all the lights turned on at once.

""Surprise!"" Abraham and Lauren shouted as they stood beside the table of food and gifts in the lounge.

'"Surprise!"' Zions voice entered her mind at the same time as her parents shouted.

Sarah froze seeing this then she put her sword away, a huge grin on her face, "You guys threw me a surprise party?" She giggled running over to them.

Lauren hugged her chuckling, "Of course we did. You turn 8 today. You can officially begin going to the Academy tomorrow!"

"You've had 3 years more training then others who will be attending. Most may have trained when they turned 7, but not many train at age 5. You'll do great sweetheart." Abraham ruffled her hair and she slapped his hand away, pouting cutely, "Stop that dad!"

Zion jumped up onto the table and nudged one of the gifts forward, '"Sarah, I would like to offer this gift first."' He sat beside it, his tail curling around his legs completely, making him look like he was standing on a cloud.

She walked to the table and picked up her gift. She raised an eyebrow seeing it as it was kind of small but then opened it and her eyes widened, "You... how did you get this Zion?" She asked in surprise.
