Chapter 22 - 22. Birthday Gifts

Inside the gift were gloves made of Iron Lizard Scales. It is a very hard-to-fight, rank D beast due to the scales being nearly impossible to pierce through.

They were extremely comfortable so that you wouldn't feel like it's metal at all.

Zion couldn't help but use Analysis on them once they were out.

[[Item: Iron Lizard Gloves

Rank: D

+15 DEF

+10 AGI

Ability: Bloodless - No type of bleeding wounds on the hands will be afflicted to the wearer.

Description: These gloves are perfect for those who need a little boost to agility and a hand (no pun intended) with defence. With these on, you'll never get hurt by backlash from wielding the same ranked weapons.

Weakness: Due to the extra weight, the wearers' hands will be slowed faintly when swinging a weapon.]]

Zion nodded towards the gloves and then looked at Sarah's hands. Due to the training, her hands had become rough, and in the earlier stages, she would hurt her hands when swinging the swords.

To help her with her weakness towards defence while also making sure she wouldn't accidentally drop her weapon due to hurting her hands, he had hunted the lizard with Aala's help to locate it, and then Abraham paid someone to craft the lizard into the gloves.

Sarah slipped the gloves onto her hands and clenched them a few times. It felt just like leather was on her hands, but it wasn't uncomfortable like leather gloves can be.

She hugged Zion with a laugh, "Thanks, Zion!" She grinned.

'"I had help from two others. One was your father, but the other one is our healer friend."' Zion smiled and nuzzled her cheek.

Sarah smiled more, hearing what Zion said, and then she let him go and went back to her parents to look at the other gifts.

Her father gave her a proper sword instead of the training sword she had been carrying. It was a beautiful silver sword with a white hilt.

Abraham wouldn't explain where he got it, so Zion, of course, analysed it.

[[Item: Silver Snow Blade.

Rank: D

+8 AGI

+5 DEF

Ability: Phantom Strike - There is a 5% chance the blade will create a second phantom attack after an attack.

Description: This blade was crafted from the materials of a snow beast mixed with silver ore. While a low rank, it has a highly slim style, which makes it easy to use.

Weakness: The blade is weaker due to the narrow shape of it, making it easier to break when bent or hit wrong.]]

'Not bad.' Zion then looked at the cloak Lauren had made for Sarah. It was a light green cloak with dark green trails. He also analysed that, although he wasn't expecting much from that one.

[[Item: Forest Cloak

Rank: D

Ability: Blend - When laying still with the cloak on, wearer blends into the environment.

Description: This cloak was woven with love and a little protection magic from a mother to her daughter to help her hide from unfriendly gazes when she needs it.

Weakness: The blending ability does not affect the scent or sound of the wearer.]]

'Huh... that's not bad, either.' Zion tilted his head in surprise as he read the cloak's info. He then looked at the trio laughing and smiled faintly, 'Defence, attack, and stealth. I reckon she should be alright. Plus, with me acting as a scout, no one will sneak up on us.'

That night, after her parents fell asleep, Sarah and Zion exited the house and went to the forest.

After the first year, Aala got so bored watching them train from a distance and so asked Zion if she could meet Sarah, but only in the forest.

Zion had no problems with it, so the fairy and human 6-year-olds met and immediately got along like two peas in a pod.

They became best friends, and like Zion had been doing for a year, they met once every week.

Aala also knew that it was Sarahs' birthday and so had made them promise to see her so she could give them a special gift each.

Because they didn't know Zions' exact birthday, they just decided to give him a gift on the day Sarah brought him home, but this year, the gift she made was taking longer, so she promised to give them gifts together on Sarah's birthday.

They walked to the tree they always met and saw Aala sitting there with two boxes in front of her.

Aala, like Sarah, had also grown quite well, although differently. Aala, a year ago, had become fascinated with archery after watching Sarah practice.

She ended up getting Sarah to teach her some things, and so, now she had a specially crafted bow with her as well.

The quiver sat at her hip while the bow used fae magic to fold down into a miniature version of it that hooked onto the quiver. Once she added mana, it grew to its standard size.

Aala looked over at them and grinned, her eyes shimmering happily, "You two made it! Good, good, sit down." She gently pulled Sarah's arms to make her sit while Zion sat silently.

Aala wore a long ankle-length yellow skirt with a white blouse at the same time, while her wings twitched sometimes from behind her.

"Alright, now it's your birthday, so Sarah first." Aala pushed the left box towards her.

Sarah opened it with curious eyes and then smiled, seeing a beautiful pendant shaped like dragonfly wings.

Zion did his usual thing and analysed the item.

[[Item: Aalas Protection.

Rank: C

Ability: Fae Protection - Creates a magic barrier to defend the wearer from a Rank C or lower attack.

Description: The result of a promise from a young fairy girl to one of her best friends has been crafted into a tangible object.

Weakness: Barrier only works once before the magic is drained, becoming a magicless piece of jewellery.]]
