Aileen was dressed by her maids. The head maid looked once at Aileen after she was dressed up, hair curled, and makeup done.
"I just can't believe it your highness... You're so beautiful and grown up, I remember when you were a baby like it was yesterday." She said with tears in her eyes.
Aileen smiled.
Aileen looked in the mirror, the figure reflecting her didn't feel like her. Her long, sleek black hair hung down around her. Her ember colored eyes were surrounded by various shades put together to make them pop. Her heart shaped lips were covered in a red lipstick. Her round face and tan skin was was sculpted with contour and various shades of pigment for blush, and shiny colors for highlights.
Aileen always knew she was a princess, but this was the first time she had felt like one.
But in her heart she did not feel content or comfortable.
~All this get up and makeup, just to take It off once I get there, hmph and as if he'll appreciate any of it, he's such a rude snob~
Aileen turned away from the mirror as her bags were carried out to the carriage.
Aileen followed our, and just as she stepped onto the carriage steps her mother and father entered outside.
"Our dearest child, we will pray for your safe arrival, write us when you get there and hopefully we will see you again at the wedding" They smiled so sweetly it was almost sickening.
Aileen hugged her father, and then her mother pulled her close. She had always been close with her mother.
"Aileen I understand this isn't exactly what you want in life right now, but I hope you can understand this is what's best for our people, you as princess have to play your part."
Aileen nodded, but she was tired of that excuse... Do it for the people.
~But what about me?~ She thought.
She stepped into the carriage, ahead of her the 4-day journey it would take to get to the capital where the palace was.
Her head maid had also handed she a matching shawl with her dress.
"Stay safe your highness, keep out of the cold."
Aileen gave her parents and staff once last smile as she rode away.
