Chapter 5 - Ce naiba de o zi

Lost in the labyrinthine halls of the demon academy, I wandered aimlessly, my heart pounding in my chest with each passing moment. The stares of my demon classmates bore into me like icy daggers, their whispered conversations sending shivers down my spine.

As the minutes stretched into what felt like an eternity, my anxiety bubbled to the surface, threatening to consume me whole. My breath came in short, shallow gasps, and my palms grew clammy with sweat as I struggled to keep my rising panic at bay.

Suddenly, I collided with something—or rather, someone—and was jolted back to reality with a start. Blinking away the fog of fear that clouded my mind, I found myself face to face with a familiar figure, their expression a mix of concern and confusion.

"Estelle, are you okay?" Xavian's voice cut through the haze of my panic, grounding me in the present moment. "You look like you've seen a ghost."

I forced a shaky smile, embarrassment burning hot on my cheeks as I struggled to regain my composure. "I'm fine, just got a little lost," I mumbled, my voice barely above a whisper. "Thanks for finding me."

"Where to, you forgot my Grande detour."

"Yeah, kinda I'm supposed to be meeting with the headmaster at his office'" I said embarrassed

Xavian's concern softened into a reassuring smile as he gently took my arm, leading me back in the direction of the headmaster's office. "No problem," he said, his voice warm and comforting. "Just stick with me, and I'll make sure you get where you need to go."

"There you go it's the only door in school that has an obsidian door, do you know what obsidian is?"

"Thanks and of course I know obsidian." I kinda felt irritated at the last part

"Well I have to go now." with that, the guy vanished in thin air and it was just me and the door, should I or should I not knock on the door, I felt hesitant

I raised my hand to knock on the door and it opened by itself, do all doors do all that

"You're on time Ms. Estelle, welcome please have a seat."

As I went in it was Professor Hemlock and another sudden guest inside

"How was your first day of school, did you have wicked fun," he asked expectantly

"Well, I was abandoned and given to someone else." I said as I glared at Azra who was at the next seat, "Um, well, it was definitely... eventful," I replied, trying to muster up some enthusiasm despite the chaos of the day. "Not sure if 'wicked fun' is the right way to describe it, though. More like 'wildly unpredictable'."

"Well you had a blast," he said so positively I almost believed him

"In my defence, I had big plans'" Azrael said

" Well you're still in charge but it's alright."

"Well, now that you had a wonderful day you were wondering where you were going to retire for the night?"

'No such thought crossed my mind but now I'm concerned"

"Yes sir?"

"We were discussing with Azrael where you would be staying for the night and we came to the conclusion it's not safe for you here since some of my students can't contain their urges for human blood and Azrael volunteered to let you stay at his place with his brothers how delightful."

"Umm...did I hear right.?" I asked, "I... uh, well, that's certainly generous of Azrael," I stammered, taken aback by the sudden turn of events. "But, um, is that really necessary? I mean, I appreciate the concern for my safety and all, but staying with demons... it's a bit... daunting."

Azrael flashed a reassuring smile, his eyes gleaming with warmth as he stepped closer. "Estelle, I understand your apprehension," he said gently, his voice soothing. "But I assure you, my brothers and I will ensure your safety. You'll be under our protection, and I promise you'll be treated with nothing but respect and hospitality."

Despite his reassuring words, I couldn't shake the nagging feeling of unease that lingered in the pit of my stomach. The thought of staying with demons, no matter how well-intentioned, sent a chill down my spine. But as I glanced around the dimly lit hallway, filled with whispers and sidelong glances, I realized that perhaps Azrael's offer was the safest option after all.

With a hesitant nod, I forced a small smile, trying to convey gratitude amidst my uncertainty. "Okay, Azrael," I said softly, my voice barely above a whisper. "If you think it's for the best, then... then I'll trust your judgment."

"Very well, Estelle," Headmaster Hemlock replied, his voice resonating with a calm authority. "Your safety is our utmost priority. Rest assured, Azrael and his brothers will ensure you are well taken care of. If you have any concerns during your stay, do not hesitate to inform me. Now, if there's nothing else, I bid you good evening."

"Thankyou headmaster'" I said as I bowed in respect

" This way Ms Estelle, I'm sure you will have a hell of a time at my place" he pointed out the door outside of the headmaster's office

"Ah, Estelle," Azrael greeted with a charming smile, his voice smooth as silk. "I trust you'll find our accommodations... intriguing. After all, a night spent in the company of demons is not an experience to be taken lightly."

His eyes twinkled with a hint of mischief as he gestured towards the door, a playful smirk tugging at the corners of his lips. "I assure you, my dear, you're in for quite the adventure," he added, his tone tinged with amusement. "Consider it a taste of the delights that await you in the underworld."

Azrael led the way with a confident stride, his aura radiating with an air of authority and allure. As we ventured into the depths of the demon academy, I couldn't help but feel a mixture of excitement and apprehension at the prospect of what lay ahead. And as I followed in his wake, I couldn't shake the feeling that this night would be anything but ordinary.
