[Ten years later]
[Solon POV]
Water has been proven to be the element that I got the hardest time to manipulate. It's changing nature goes against my very being that is constant and unchanging.
However, my powers are not depended on the concepts themselves. It is the most primal use of the different laws that exist, the only limitation I have found so far is my knowledge.
I have come to enjoy my time with my teacher Runrak, he has been nice to me even if I am a spirit. He taught me to the best of his abilities, at least I think so. My powers are unable to give me information about events outside the material world.
I need more training...
One of the positives of using my powers all the time is that my mind develops faster. Even using gravity is not too heavy on it anymore. What is still heavy is the use of force, a concept I came into contact with when I asked the lion-turtle to show me a powerful water attack. I think he called it a tsunami.
It's destructive power is beyond everything I have come into contact so far. However due to it I came to learn about multiple new concepts I can use through my powers. Among them, force stood out since I am able to stick it to things and cause what humans call secondary damage as well as move objects without touching them.
I also, came into contact with the concepts of death, sound, nature, destruction and emotions. Although extremely powerful, those concepts are not so easily used because I am unable to use them too much without overworking my mind.
Their constant use did teach me how to filter my mind without consuming energy all the time, but I am still unable to use them efficiently.
Lastly, I also found out that I am an idiot, I was using my powers wrong. They don't exist just to fight and destroy, that's how humans use them. I on the other hand, started using them for other goals. I used earth to create houses, water to create medicine and nature to make trees grow.
This use of power has been way more satisfying than just attacking and killing with them.
[Third POV]
"Stop daydreaming and focus on your task." Nosaya, Solon's healing teacher told him loundly enough to attract his attention.
"Okay" answered Solon as he continued to heal a fish.
After a while the fish once again started flopping on the ground.
"Good. With this you can be considered an expert at healing. The only thing you miss is experience." she said with a serious voice
"Thank you for teaching me."
"You shouldn't thank me, you thank the chief. The fact that a man was allowed to be taught healing is something that goes against our beliefs. Now go and meet with him, he wanted to talk to you about something." Nosaya said as she left the small house they were in.
Solon got up and walked towards the tent Hahn was living in to meet him.
Once he got inside the tent he saw him sitting on a chair made of ice looking through some parchments and noting down some things.
"You know, every time I see you dealing with those things, I remind myself that I am lucky to be a spirit instead of a human." he commented when he saw Hahn frown.
"It's not like I wanted every human to be an idiot. This work is useless, they ask for help even before they try to solve a problem themselves. Look here 'I am unable to catch fish due to careless use of the power of water, I request that the hunters more away from my spot'. BULLSHIT! If he had no hunters around the spirits would have eaten him for breakfast, moreover it's not like this colossal lake has only 3-4 spots to fish, just take your boat and move away from the hunters."
"Well, you wanted to become the chief, that's what a chief has to deal with." said Solon as he looked through the parchments.
Hahn sighed, turned around, looked outside and said thoughtfully
"You know when you proposed to create a settlement outside the lion-turtle's protection, I never expected something like this. Building in the wild was considered forbidden due to the danger."
"Indeed, but the danger depends on the time."
"What do you mean?" asked Hahn warily
"Well, the low-level spirits that you fight usually only act on insticts. However their instict change depending on the ruler."
"The ruler?"
"Yes, Raava and Vaatu. They are the spirits that dictate how the low-level spirits act. When Vaatu is in charge, darkness and chaos reigns, but when Raava is in charge peace reigns. They fight every 10 thousand years to decide the ruler. Last time they fought Raava won."
Hahn heard this and froze in his place trying to comprehend what he just heard.
"Well, that's all I can tell you, so why did you call me here?" Solon asked, snapping Hahn awake.
"I want your help to build more houses using the earth. More people have requested to move here and we don't have the nessessary housing for them."
"Sure, I can do that. I will go and start making houses." said Solon as he immediately got up and headed towards an empty spot where he could build freely.
After Solon left, a man entered the tent and asked Hahn
"Are we really gonna do this? He spent 10 years with us and most people have come to like him."
"Yes we are. Once he kill him and eat his body we will finally obtain the power to destroy all spirits. Then humans will finally rule this world. I made that deal years ago to make him trust us. Now that he considers us friends we can ambush him after he gets tired from creating the houses."
