After Carmen left, I finished my breakfast, savoring the last bite of the delicious croissant. I couldn't remember the last time I'd had such a luxurious meal. Despite the looming contract, there was something almost comforting about this place, this temporary refuge from the chaos of my life.

I headed back to my room, feeling the need to freshen up and gather my thoughts. The shower was quick but invigorating, and I let the hot water wash away the remnants of last night's tension.

After drying off, I stood in front of the mirror, combing my hair until it fell in smooth waves around my shoulders. 

My clothes were another matter. I rifled through the meager selection in my suitcase, sighing in frustration. "I don't even have that many clothes," I muttered to myself. Well, when you get thrown out of your mother's house, you can't bring much with you.
